While I think they blew a few scenes (the first zombie shoulda been the one dragging the axe), it was fun, and definitely one of the better video-game-to-movie translations. That said, Milla Jovovich is damn fucking hot. Romero's script for the movie wasn't that great. I was way too much along the lines of the game - therefore people who play the games would already know what happened. At least with this version they're giving us an alternate storyline to follow that is still faithful to the games (in terms of the Umbrella corp, and the enemies). It sets up the sequel(s) nicely. This movie ruled except for one thing. There weren't enough zombies! I kept seeing the same zombie actors over & over again. Especially that blonde asian guy. He was ALWAYS THERE! I was a lot better than I thought it would be going in. *********SPOILER************* ***SPOILERS BELOW*** I love the ending how the set up the one guy for the "nemesis" program and how Milla's character is just walking outside into a destroyed town not knowing what the hell is going on. Guest Black Lushus Report post Posted August 1, 2002 I liked it *shrugs* I think people tend to go into a movie hoping to see EXACTLY what they got in the game, it seems to be that way with every video game movie or even comic book movie...my take on it is, if you want the game, GO PLAY THE GAME. these movies are BASED on these games, they're not direct translations of the game onto the movie screen...for example, Final Fantasy was great, IMO, but too many people expected to see Summons and Chocobos and shit and were letdown... Now, is it just me, or if you take out 2 of the usages of the word "fuck," is this PG-13 worthy? Well, the nudity too... When it comes to nudity or gore, in a movie involving ZOMBIES and MONSTERS, I'm taking the gore. Anderson's a decent writer, but Romero's was definitely more epic. I cared about some of the characters in Romero's script for Resident Evil. Only character I cared about in this movie was...come to think of it, I didn't care for a single one of them, which makes it a decent movie at best. A good movie should at least make you care for one of the characters. Scream made you care about Randy and Sidney. Aliens made you WANT to see all 7 of them survive, and when one of them died, you cared. Dawn Of The Dead made each death a surprise, which helped make it the classic it is.
