Guest PB-13 Report post Posted July 23, 2002 I hope the WWE realizes the rating jumped because the show was good, not simply because Rock or HHH was on. I really want to see the quarter hours. I hope the benoit / booker did good #'s. NIKO "See Vince? I returned to Raw and the ratings were way up! Now aren't you glad you listen to every bit of booking advice I ever give you? Just one thing, that RVD guy isn't nearly as over as I am, take my word for it...just book us in a match next week and compare!"
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted July 23, 2002 Thank christ that the first big jump in ratings comes the week that 3 great tv matchups are on. Now they have to give us more...they just have to... BENOIT VS. RVD!!!!!!!!
Guest Downhome Report post Posted July 23, 2002 Out of curriosity, is there a web site to go for ratings besides a wrestling site? I know where to get the network ratings, but where does one go for cable ratings, or quarter hour ratings?
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted July 23, 2002 I don't know where to go...but I'll bet that RVD/HArdy got a lower QH than it should have. They were in the card placement spot of DOOM! right after the open. Then again...maybe the ratings jumped because they put something worth watching in the spot that generally loses the most viewers... hmm...
Guest Dangerous A Report post Posted July 23, 2002 I am not sure how Meltzer gets his numbers or if there is internet access to those numbers. I heard that he calls someone.
Guest Downhome Report post Posted July 23, 2002 I bet he does call someone, as I used to have a phone number to call to get ratings also, but I have since lost that number.
Guest Shaved Bear Report post Posted July 24, 2002 maybe well see three good matches every week
Guest Human Fly Report post Posted July 24, 2002 With Bischoff and the Nitro-esque feel to the show I wonder if the ratings increase can be attributed to disgruntled WCW fans making a comeback.
Guest Dangerous A Report post Posted July 24, 2002 If that were the case, and it's a big IF, then maybe the WCW name can be resurrected. But history of the last year and a half has shown Vince will not put over anything that he hasn't created. If he would just pull his head out of his ass and realize that's how he's gonna make money. Guest MrSCARY Report post Posted July 24, 2002 The "This is your life" thing wasn't the highest rating in RAW history by the way. It was the highest rated quarter hour. The highest rating in RAW history was.... Austin vs Taker from back in the day, it drew a 9.5 or a 9.8 rating. Seriously, look it up if you don't believe me. (I'd post a link but I'm far to lazy to look for one now)

Guest Olympic Slam Report post Posted July 24, 2002 You gotta believe that HHH and Rock, love them or hate them, had something to do with the ratings jump. Bischoff and the ladder match I'm sure helped as well
Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted July 24, 2002 It's weird because ratings matter in a way but also not in other ways. Example: I tape raw, so they get my ratings points, yet when I get home from work, I still fast forward past a bunch of stuff I WOULD HAVE changed the channel on had I been home. On the other hand, when I am at work and tape RAW, they get my ratings points for the entire show as opposes to bits and pieces, so I guess in the end it all evens out. Guest Hogan Made Wrestling Report post Posted July 24, 2002 Do you have a Nielsen box? Because otherwise it doesn't matter.
Guest Olympic Slam Report post Posted July 24, 2002 Do you have a Nielsen box? Because otherwise it doesn't matter. I have a feeling most wrestling fans don't participate in the Nielsen box program. Most of the people I've know that watch pro-wrestling watch it alone in their rooms on a tv of their own. Most of the younger wrestling fans I've known don't watch the shows on the main family television either which a Nielson box, if there were one in the house, would most likely be. Guest Hogan Made Wrestling Report post Posted July 24, 2002 Well some people must have them, because that's how Nielsen figures out the TV ratings. Contrary to popular myth, they can't check the signal of every TV in the world to see what they are watching at that time.

I know this guy who would never change the channel during Raw, not even during commercials, because he didn't want any other show to get his "ratings". When I told him that no one could tell what he was watching because he didn't have a Nielsen box he was all shocked.
