Guest Downhome Posted July 23, 2002 Report Posted July 23, 2002 By "the top guys", I mean the guys that many seem to focus on as being the greatest. Guys like Misawa, Kawada, Muta, Kobashi, Taue, etc... What guys are great in Puroresu that sadly get overlooked because of these "top guys"? Personally, I am a huge mark for Jun Akiyama (sp?). Call me a sucker for his "EXPLODAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!" if you will, but I just love that guy with that finisher, and his knees. Sincerely, ...Downhome...
Guest BionicRedneck Posted July 23, 2002 Report Posted July 23, 2002 TENZAN!!!! Look at the mullet for gods sake. Actually, for a while, i didn't "get" Tenzan. I think it was the G-1 Climax 2001 which made me sit up and take notice, because he was definately the MVP. I like Akiyama too, but i don't watch much NOAH so i don't see him very often. I watched his match against Misawa (from Excite Series 2000) today, and its real good.
Guest Black Tiger Posted July 23, 2002 Report Posted July 23, 2002 Koji Kanemoto Tiger Mask IV Curry Man Takao Omori Ikudo Hidaka Jun Akiyama Naomichi Marfuchi Hiroyoshi Tenzan Taiyo Kea
Guest PlatypusFool Posted July 23, 2002 Report Posted July 23, 2002 I think Akiyama and Tenzan are really, really good. I also think Takayama and Omori deserve more chances to prove themselves as great workers.
Guest Dangerous A Posted July 23, 2002 Report Posted July 23, 2002 I'll give you my big 3 puro favs that are legends to be AJ- Taiyo Kea NJ-Hiroshi Tanahashi, Minoru Tanaka, Hiroyoshi Tenzan Noah- Naomichi Marufuji, Team No Fear, Wild II (I have a soft spot for those guys) Jun Akiyama
Guest BionicRedneck Posted July 24, 2002 Report Posted July 24, 2002 To those already mentioned i'd like to add Tatsuhito Takaiwa and, of course, the most underated wrestler ever... EL SAMURAI
Guest Downhome Posted July 24, 2002 Report Posted July 24, 2002 To those already mentioned i'd like to add Tatsuhito Takaiwa... Would that be the individual who allowed me to have one of my greatest mark out moments ever by performing a multiple powerbomb/dvd finishing move?
Guest Downhome Posted July 24, 2002 Report Posted July 24, 2002 He certainly would Then I would have to agree with you! I am not the best with names of these guys, as I haven't seen TOO much of it. I do know quite a few though, and I THOUGHT that was his name.
Guest BionicRedneck Posted July 24, 2002 Report Posted July 24, 2002 I too marked out for the "Endless Powerbomb" first time I saw it.
Guest Downhome Posted July 24, 2002 Report Posted July 24, 2002 I too marked out for the "Endless Powerbomb" first time I saw it. It will own you... ...*sigh*, that is great!
Guest BigTim2002 Posted July 24, 2002 Report Posted July 24, 2002 Takaiwa is like my hero. He rules it. And Jun...you damn right he rules...Marufuji is going to be the next big thing in Juniors. He rules it SOOOOOOO much.... Ahhh...I think the future looks pretty bright.
Guest Special K Posted July 24, 2002 Report Posted July 24, 2002 Jun Akiyama is awesome, and I like Tenzan. Some of the Toryumon guys could really be something. I also love Deano Machino's stuff in Japan. Very fluid, and much more athletic than his American style.
