Guest chirs3 Posted July 24, 2002 Report Posted July 24, 2002 I hope you were joking when you said looks good... Just kidding. I personally thing this is one sorry batch of nominees, but it hasn't been the best year for music, really...
Guest Narcoleptic Jumper Posted July 24, 2002 Report Posted July 24, 2002 Mayer nominated for Best New Artist is reason enough to watch for me.
Guest Snappy Nappy Dugout Posted July 24, 2002 Report Posted July 24, 2002 I hope you were joking when you said looks good C'mon, Of course I was jokeing. It doesn't look that good, but It's ok. SOAD, White Stripes, Nas, Shakira, Musiq, Coldplay, and Eminem all up for awards= Goodness.
Guest redbaron51 Posted July 24, 2002 Report Posted July 24, 2002 and yet still we have Best Rap best Hip Hop and Best RB, yet they are all the same, yet we have Best Rock, in which this case the only so called rock band is none... of the above. BTW who's hosting?
Guest Snappy Nappy Dugout Posted July 24, 2002 Report Posted July 24, 2002 Jimmy Fallon is the host. Which will suck.
Guest Shaved Bear Posted July 24, 2002 Report Posted July 24, 2002 SOAD better win every catergory they are in
Guest razazteca Posted July 24, 2002 Report Posted July 24, 2002 will Britney Spear perform? that is the only reason to watch
Guest Combat Apparatus Posted July 24, 2002 Report Posted July 24, 2002 Why the fuck isnt weezer's "Keep Fishin" video on there somewhere?
Guest Narcoleptic Jumper Posted July 24, 2002 Report Posted July 24, 2002 Why the fuck isnt weezer's "Keep Fishin" video on there somewhere? I'm guessing because it came out past the deadline.
Guest Incandenza Posted July 24, 2002 Report Posted July 24, 2002 Outside of the presence of the White Stripes, bleh.
Guest BifEverchad Posted July 24, 2002 Report Posted July 24, 2002 Why the fuck isnt weezer's "Keep Fishin" video on there somewhere? I'm guessing because it came out past the deadline. Either that, or because its a HORRIBLE video. Anyways, the nominees look as soild as any other year. Eminem will take most of the awards. Jimmy Fallon will crack a few memorable jokes. A few celebs will show up half naked and someone like Kid Rock or (insert rapper here) will drop the F-Bomb or something. Same shit every year, its MTV....and I love it!
Guest Big McLargeHuge Posted July 24, 2002 Report Posted July 24, 2002 Don't forget shameless shiling of new album/movie releases. I think it hit an all time low last year. Just terrible.
Guest starvenger Posted July 24, 2002 Report Posted July 24, 2002 >will Britney Spear perform? that is the only reason to watch I'd think that the only reason to watch would be if Shakira performs - she may not be a great singer, but at least she actually sings. Britney performing would pretty much be the exact same thing we've seen from her since she debuted. Oh, and BifEverchad, Amanda Walsh is no Rachel Perry...
Guest BifEverchad Posted July 24, 2002 Report Posted July 24, 2002 Oh, and BifEverchad, Amanda Walsh is no Rachel Perry... true...but Amanda Walsh is the love of my life! and yes, Rachel Perry was/is one sexy bitch too... (I think I'll include here in my sig as well)
Guest FeArHaVoC Posted July 24, 2002 Report Posted July 24, 2002 No anouncment for who is getting the Michael Jackson, Video Vangard award this year?
Guest KANE Posted July 24, 2002 Report Posted July 24, 2002 This isn't the WORST, don't you guys remember the past 3 years or so? All pop. The only "rock" band there was Limp Bizkit. Oh, and watch Aliyah win the R&B award as a formality, because she's deceased (God rest her soul).
Guest starvenger Posted July 24, 2002 Report Posted July 24, 2002 Ok, I suppose I should say who I'd like to see win... Best Video Of The Year The White Stripes, "Fell in Love With a Girl" - I suppose because it's unlike all the rest Best Male Video Craig David, "Walking Away" - Not gonna happen, but hey, the guy's got talent Best Female Video Shakira, "Whenever, Wherever" - I'm not thinking with my brain for this one Best Group Video No Doubt, "Hey Baby" - Because Gwen is so damn cute Best Rap Video Don't care Best R&B Video Ashanti, "Foolish" - Aaliyah's probably got this one, but it'd be nice to see someone else get it. Best Hip-Hop Video Don't care - Too bad Swollen Members haven't gotten noticed in the US Best Dance Video Dirty Vegas, "Days Go By" - There's just something about this video that I like. Best Rock Video Jimmy Eat World, "The Middle" - eh, why not... Best Pop Video Shakira, "Whenever, Wherever" - I'm a slave to the ass... Best New Artist In A Video Avril Lavigne, "Complicated" - Go Canada! Best Video From A Film Chad Kroeger f/ Josey Scott, "Hero" ("Spider-Man") - where's the Sum41 song? That was a better video... MTV2 Award The Strokes, "Last Nite" Viewer's Choice Michelle Branch, "Everywhere" Breakthrough Video Cake, "Short Skirt / Long Jacket" - Great concept. Best Choreography In A Video - Geez, did they make this category for Britney?
Guest y2jailbait Posted July 25, 2002 Report Posted July 25, 2002 GO NORAH JONES!!!!!!!!!! Oh yeah, Weezer's video for Dope Nose was screwed, ya cant have a Rock catagory on MTV without Weezer in there somewhere.
Guest raptor Posted July 25, 2002 Report Posted July 25, 2002 Does anybody find it funny that Elton John's "This Train..." was probably nominated because Justin Timberlake was in the video?
Guest Ripper Posted July 25, 2002 Report Posted July 25, 2002 Does anybody find it funny that Elton John's "This Train..." was probably nominated because Justin Timberlake was in the video? That was a pretty kickass video, and I didn't even know it was him for a while. Justin or no justin, that video should have gotten nominated for something. "and yet still we have Best Rap best Hip Hop and Best RB" I still don't understand the Best Rap AND best Hip-Hop when they are the same thing to normal people, but lets remember, MTV doesn't have the slightest Idea what they are talking about. Sisco(or however you spell his name) won the first one...how the fuck that made sense still escapes me. R&B is not the same thing as Hip Hop/Rap(which are the same thing).
Guest hardyz1 Posted July 25, 2002 Report Posted July 25, 2002 Here's my picks, as if anyone cares. Oh, and as a note beforehand, I am a Linkin Park fan, but the video for "In the End" sucks ass. Guest Snappy Nappy Dugout Posted July 25, 2002 Report Posted July 25, 2002 I Think Eminem, Pink, And The Boss: Bruce Springsting preforms this year. As for my pics: "Best Video Of The Year" Who I want to win:Eminem, White Stripes, or Nas. All three are kick ass videos and I'll be happy any one of them will win. But must likely to win:Eminem, Linkin Park. But it's going to be P.O.D. just becuse 9/11. You watch. "Best Male Video" Eminem. Clean Sweep. "Best Female Video" Shakira. I Just got her album yesterday and It's pretty good. She's better then everybody here. "Best Group Video" P.O.D. If they don't win Video Of The Year, There winning this one. "Best Rap Video" Eminem or Nas. Very close. "Best R&B Video" Aliyah or Alica. "Best Hip-Hop Video" Ja Rule & Asnthai. Becuse it's MTV and white people over 30 LOVE JA RULE~! Or Busta Rhymes and P.diddy will win. If MTV are smart enough. "Best Dance Video" Shakira. Damn, Ass shots golore in that video. "Best Rock Video" System Of A Down. But Serj diss MTV, P.O.D Is going to win. Becuse of 9 Fucking 11. "Best Pop Video" Ha, Nelly's in the pop catgorey. So um, there going to win. "Best New Artist In A Video" John Mayer or P.O.M "Best Video From A Film" That Crappy Hero song. I Fucking hate it. "Viewer's Choice" Eminem. "Breakthrough Video" White Stripes, Coldplay, or DMX. "Best Direction In A Video" Don't Know. "Best Choreography In A Video" Don't know. "Best Special Effects In A Video" LET ME SEE YOU NOD YA HEAD!! "Best Art Direction In A Video" Stick Em' Up. "Best Editing In A Video" System Of A Down. "Best Cinematography In A Video" Shakira. "MTV2 Award" Musiq
Guest TheyCallMeMark Posted July 25, 2002 Report Posted July 25, 2002 "By The Way" should have swept pretty much every fucking catagory. Oh well. I hate MTV.
Guest evenflowDDT Posted July 25, 2002 Report Posted July 25, 2002 Ummmm.... go Nas & The White Stripes? I've never actually seen the video for "Fell in Love with a Girl", but the fact that they actually nominated it for best video shows that a) it's a HELLA good video B) Weezer was too late to be the "alternative"/filler slot c) MTV realized nobody gives a damn about The Strokes anymore. I honestly don't care in the slightest this year, and this'll mark three years in a row that I'm not interested enough in the nominees to have even seen most of the videos, much less waste 2 hours of valuable p05t wh0ring time actually watching that crap.
Guest mesepher Posted July 26, 2002 Report Posted July 26, 2002 it didn't take long for the Strokes to die out... thats kind of a shame, they were kinda good, and had a groovin' look B) Springsteen and the E Street Band is the ONLY redeeming factor of that show... but I'm not into him enough to watch 2 hrs for a five minute performance.
Guest Nevermortal Posted July 26, 2002 Report Posted July 26, 2002 Why wasn't Ozzy nominated for anything? Given his relationship (or Sharon's influence) with MTV, I'm surprised he's not in anything important. What happened to the Best Metal Video? Do they even have that anymore? Fucking MTV twats.
Guest Still Fly Posted July 26, 2002 Report Posted July 26, 2002 "Best R&B Video" Aliyah or Alica. "Best Hip-Hop Video" Ja Rule & Asnthai. Becuse it's MTV and white people AHHHH! I hate it when people spell names wrong!!!!! AALIYAH ASHANTI OKAY!
