Well, from my understanding, it started in 1981 when Abdula the Butcher appeared on a New Japan card, despite being the top heel in All Japan. Later that year, the same situation happened with Tiger Jeet Singh, except this time it was an NJPW wrestler invading AJPW. Both were treated as "outsiders" but actually signed with the respective companies. Over the years, many wrestlers would jump between the two companies, such as the British Bulldogs, Bruiser Brody, and others.

Still in the early eighties, Chosyu turned on Fujinami and was thus, elevated to stardom. Chosyu would later form the Ishin Gundan with Hamaguchi, Killer Khan, and Kuniaki Kobayashi. They eventually leave NJPW and form Japan Pro-Wrestling. This promotion eventually started co-promoting with AJPW, which was the famous "Chosyu's army invades All Japan" angle. The feud revolutionized AJPW forever because it gave Tsuruta a new crop of talent to work with, revitalizing his character, and helped make a star out of Tenryu. It also helped the Juniors like Tiger Mask because it gave them guys like Kobayashi to feud with instead of just each other. Anyway, eventually it was desolved, along with Japan Pro, and everyone involved either stayed in AJPW, or went back to NJPW.

I would just like to say you are one of the few who actually STOPS when he doesn't know. I applaud you. Seriously.
