Guest Kid Kablam Report post Posted July 24, 2002 Just downloaded Benoit vs Armstrong from Clash of the Champs 23. Never really heard of this guy Armstrong, but he seemed pretty good. Should I know about him?
Guest razazteca Report post Posted July 24, 2002 Brad Armstrong is probably the best singles wrestler in the family and was a midcard champ in WCW for his early on in his career. During the Russo era Brad was given stupid gimmick after strupid gimmick, eventually mocking his brother Roaddogg. I think Brad was the Light weight champ in the early 90s and was in the Cruiserweight tourny putting up descent matches on Saturday Night. Too bad he never came up with a better finisher than the Russian Leg Sweep, even though it was the best on in the business.
Guest Kid Kablam Report post Posted July 24, 2002 I liked their match, I though Brad was quite good. Oh well, yet another good wrestler gets saddled with lame gimmicks that drag him down eh?
Guest kingkamala Report post Posted July 24, 2002 Brad Armstrong was one of those guys who usually was a curtain jerker at house shows and WCW Saturday Nights(Talking about the later years of WCW SN) and once in a while got pushed up the card with a lame gimmick(Examples: Arachniman,Candyman, Badstreet, B.A and Buzzkill). I thought it was cool when Brad Armstrong upset Berlyn(Who was originally going to be a German bad ass) at Halloween Havoc or Mayhem 99.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted July 24, 2002 Remember the Armstrong curse?
Guest kingkamala Report post Posted July 24, 2002 Yeah they even made a brief storyline centered around the Armstrong Curse with Jimmy Hart's First family(the WCW version with Brian Knobbs, Meng, Hugh Morrus, Jerry Flynn and maybe several others that I forget) were making fun of the Armstrongs cause of the Curse and said they were a bunch of losers. Well I think all this lead to was a few six man tag matches on WCW Saturday night and one or two on WCW Thunder.
Guest Slingshot Suplex Report post Posted July 24, 2002 Brad in the early/mid 1980's was as good an in-ring talent as you'll find.I believe he's a former Georgia National champion and UWF tag champ with Tim Horner .On a couple different interviews by his contemporaries of the 80's (among them Tully Blanchard) talk about what a great wrestler he was.Brad's biggest problem was a lack of on camera personality. That's the biggest reason he never got any kind of push in the NWA. Guest Drury37 Report post Posted July 24, 2002 Just downloaded Benoit vs Armstrong from Clash of the Champs 23. Never really heard of this guy Armstrong, but he seemed pretty good. Should I know about him? Where did you download the match from,I have was looking for places to download matches but I couldn't find any. Thanks.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted July 24, 2002 Drury37 goto Kazaa and search under artist frozenblockofpiss, there you will find sweet matches from japan and indys....I found Tajeri vs Low Ki UCW match. I think Brad Armstrong had some matches with Otani (sp?) over the Cruiserweight title.
Guest Drury37 Report post Posted July 25, 2002 Oh alright,do they have any WWF or WCW stuff? Thanks.

Guest razazteca Report post Posted July 25, 2002 well besides Hotline or Direct Connect or MIRC would be a better choice just check the general forum for info. the 80s and early 90s were Brad Armstrong peak period, the Russo era tried but making him a No Limit Solider and tree hugging hippie did not help him much. Guest Bloodice Report post Posted July 27, 2002 My favorite moments of brad armstrongs where when he was a member of the lightning express with TIm Horner and of course his days in the SCW. He also had several good matches with brian pillman and jushin liger.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted July 27, 2002 The Armstrong brothers were always at their best when they were in tag teams Brad & Tim Horner as Lightning Express Steve & Tracy Smothers as the Souther Boys
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted July 28, 2002 I actually marked out when Scott and Steve "broke" the Armstrong Curse. See, there was a mini-angle that developed on WCW Saturday Night and WCW Worldwide that involved Scott and Steve Armstrong never winning a match together as The Armstrongs. Then, one match, I think against Hugh Morrus and The Barbarian, Steve won with a powerbomb reversal or something, and the announcers were screaming "THEY JUST BROKE THE ARMSTRONG CURSE!" Guest razazteca Report post Posted July 29, 2002 I remember Scott & Steve as a team but really never thought that they amounted to much on Da Mutha Ship Saturday Nite. I rememer the Curse angle which Larry Zybrisco always seem to bring up when the brother wrestled, but never really cared for Scott.
Guest Your Olympic Hero Report post Posted July 31, 2002 I remember the Armstrongs beating Raven in a handicap match on Nitro once... what was the point of that?
Guest The Hollywood Fashion Plate Report post Posted July 31, 2002 Why did Brad beat Berlyn on PPV, anyway? Or for that matter, why did they even wrestle at HHavoc '99?
Guest The Hollywood Fashion Plate Report post Posted July 31, 2002 By the way, Bloodice, your avatar kicks ass! I thought that I was the only person who liked Scott Norton on this board.
Guest Bloodice Report post Posted August 10, 2002 Hey thanks man. No I was a huge norton fan from his days in the awa to his many stints through the wcw. I'm glad he's getting his shot in NJPW but I'd love to see him back in the states. As for the armstrongs I think that had they tried to push brad more as a heel he would've gone over but that's just my opinion
