I think a NOAH/AJ fued could be damm good if put in the right hands. The title unification would have to be Muto v Misawa if it happened. Misawa coming back to defend Baba's honour.

Tenryu v Ogawa wouldent exactly draw.

Politically, I don't see it happening. Although I haven't heard anything concerning the fractured relationship of Misawa and Baba.

I would love to see a NOAH/AJ promotional feud though. For some reason I think those guys could get it right. (unlike WWF last year and NJ/AJ from last year)

To clarify,

I said "I Hope not" to the match between Tenryu and Ogawa.

Politically, I don't think the fued will happen.

Tenryu is a fucking gypsy so I wouldn't put it past him getting this done by any means.

The only person fit to protect Baba's honor right now is Kawada, and he's injurred.

If Tenryu/Ogowa happens, it's just another nail in the coffin for both promotions.

Baba vowed that Tenryu would never work for him again. I guess his wife decided that once he died, hiring Tenryu wouldn't be such a bad thing because technically, he wouldn't be working for Giant Baba anymore. Or not.

to be fair, all the top stars had just jumped to NOAH, but i think she should have repected her husbands wishes. Why did Baba say that Tenryu wouldn't work for him again?

When Tenryu left he didn't leave on good terms. I don't know the details, but I think Tenryu had a much different vision of AJPW than what Baba wanted, and it makes sense, looking at his masturbatory booking style focused around spitting on All Japan tradition, aka: Giant Baba's memory.

Actually the reason for the heat between Baba and Tenryu was the way he left the promotion in 1989. During the Tsuruta/Tenryu feud, he gave Baba a real short notice about him leaving either to start WAR or go to New Japan. Baba didn't appreciate this because he saw that Tenryu was only thinking about himself. So when Tenryu left, Baba vowed that Tenryu would never work for him as long as he was alive.

IMO, I think Motoko had almost no choice but to hire Tenryu back because of the NOAH defections. It was a case of Tenryu being at the right place at the right time.

If you ask me, I think the best way to go is Kawada/Fuchi. Tenryu and Mutoh are egomaniacs looking to push themselves and end All Japan with themselves on top as opposed to having the company's best interests in mind and building to the future as well as keep Baba's vision of what pro wrestling is.

Actually it was the colossal flop that was the SWS that Tenryu bolted for, (WAR and NJ came later), presumably trying to make his own name for himself outside the Tsuruta/Baba shadow. I never heard the short notice bit, but it wouldn't be that far of a stretch to say loyalty to Baba was the underlying issue there.

I also hope that Fuchi/Kawada run AJPW, but in all fairness to Mutoh, he helped AJPW put a lot of asses in seats and that's what the business end of wrestling comes down to.

When considering the issue, one has to wonder if the words "push Kawada" ever came into her mind when she was considering it. "Hmm, should I push the best worker I have left who also embodies my late husband's vision of pro wrestling, or hire the guy he detested?" I know Kawada supposedly got into hot water with Giant Baba over suggesting inter-promotional feuds to freshen up AJPW, but hasn't Motoko already played the interpromotional card several times anyway? Why would she care about that? I think, when it all comes down to it, if Giant Baba were alive and had to chose between pushing Kawada and hiring Tenryu, he would have pushed Kawada. Then again, if he were alive, the split would never have happened, so hindsight is a dificult thing to use here.

Either way, here's to hoping Kawada just retires and becomes president, or simply retires. If someone else gets the job (even Fuchi is suspect), there won't be a point to having him around anyway, as he'll merely be the ghost of all Japan past and wouldn't be able to fit in with the likes of Tenryu, Kojima, and Mutoh unless he spit on his legacy more than he already has.

If Giant Baba were still alive, not only would the split probably have not happend. But Mutoh, Ka Shin, and Kojima would still be in NJ, because I don't think Baba would have hired them. Baba was big on loyalty, how loyal would he think Mutoh and Co would be after leaving NJ after so many years.

Of course the downside is that NJ may still be in the hell that was the year 2000, because the NJ vs AJ angle got them out of their little rut.
