Stone Cold update

Yeah, but isn't it funny how Taker, HHH, Rock, etc. have the characters they always have and are always booked incredibly strong?

Austin is the one who has been put in shit programs and left to the side when his career is winding down and all he has done is produce.

HHH gets 45 minutes of air time to escape 10 on 1 beatdowns, the Rock is ALWAYS the babyface who just whips everyone's ass, Taker is squashing left and right and looks ultra-strong, and even the nWo can just complain about the booking and get the show re-written to satisfy their liking.

But Austin being booked with Bradshaw, peeing on people, losing to Lesnar and looking the worst he has since picking up the "Stine Cold" gimmick isn't feasible?

You acting like there isn't a separate priority for Main Event guys as far as characters goes is ridiculous. They are given the care and the work as far as talent goes. It is that simple. Austin was left behind and shouldn't have been.

Sure there are bad gimmicks/horrible storylines everywhere, but the maine eventers and people like X-Pac are taken the utmost care of while Austin is forgotten. Why? What did he do?

I would have to say that Rock jobs to more people than Austin, Undertaker and HHH combined. He jobs to Angle, Y2J, HHH, Undertaker and Austin on many occasions. I'll agree, Steve got stuck closer to the midcard towards the end, but you can't say Rock didn't job often.

No, there is no denying that, but would you agree that The Rock being placed in a team with Bradshaw and face X-Pac, Big Show, Ric Flair and Nash all day was incredibly ridiculous?

Why SHOULD he job there? I couldn't see any feasible reason as to why Rock would need to put over ANY of those guys.

Austin more than likely WOULD have jobbed to Eddy, and Benoit in their feuds because they would have been built well , etc. It was even said Austin's main reason for not jobbing to Lesnar was because there would be no build and it was pointless to give away a match like that if they had such big plans for Brock (Hogan/Goldberg anyone????)

Hell, Austin being gone made Benoit go for the IC title and he and Guerrero lose to the Dudleyz nightly and Ric Flair have nothing to do but go over Steven Richards! Austin being there would have given Ric something to do in his last run, Benoit/Eddy would have been higher on the card and their careers would have benefitted more and faster by austin feuding with them.

Sure, Rock feuded with Eddy for one night where Eddy lost clean and didn't get a title shot, but even if he did, Rock was facing Lesnar and he'll be gone soon anyway. Austin could have picked up that slack and given them the other HUGE name to feud with where they could come off looking good.

I'd LOVE to see Austin back in the WWE...just not quite yet. There's too much happening right now, there's lots of new main eventers, and the time isn't right to bring Stone Cold back. However, after thinking about it, there's a great way to bring him back, and one that gives him plenty of character direction.

First of all, you wait until the inevitable happens later this summer, or this fall, and Bischoff turns RAW into Nitro, completely takes over, etc, etc. You figure Shane will reappear right about then, as he did warn Vince about what would happen if Bischoff took over the company. So Vince reluctantly backs Shane, and Shane, with the help of Stephanie on Smackdown, go to war with Bischoff. Eventually, sometime after a few losses by the McMahon kids, they bring in their secret weapon: Stone Cold. Judging by the boos HHH got for slamming Austin on RAW, he'd still get a massive pop. I remember at Backlash 2000, when Austin came out during his injury. MASSIVE, massive pop. He'd get one of those.

Now, you have a few choices. You either play Austin as a guy who can help turn the tide for the WWE forces against Bisch, give Austin his final run on top, which he DOES deserve, and then use his regained cred to put people over on his way out. (See Hogan, Hollywood). The other option is to have Austin immediately turn on the WWE guys and team with Bisch. No one outside of the internet community knows jack squat about Austin's past with Bischoff in WCW, so that wouldn't be any type of problem. Turn Austin heel, have him vent about what the WWE did to him, and build him up for a big feud with someone (again, his last run on top). You could bring in Goldberg for that, as an Austin/Goldberg match would draw comparably to a Rock/Hogan match, especially since it would be soon after both returned, making it even more appealing. Then, you go ahead and put over new guys with Austin. It takes a lot from the way Hogan's return went, as it gave the guy the true credibility needed to give his opponents the rub from picking up wins over him. Angle making Hogan tap was HUGE for Angle, and if a guy like a John Cena or a Rey Mysterio or some other developmental talent could cleanly beat Stone Cold, that'd do a ton for their career.
