Recommended Posts

I saw a commercial for this last night while watching the Best Sports Show Period.

Anybody know who will be on the show?

Is this just a one time thing? Or weekly? or what?

All they said was coming this August, nothing else. Maybe Meltzer or someone will bring the whole story.

Just moving this up as a reminder that UFC on FSN airs tonight, it will be on here at 6:00 PST.

Having only watched some of the earlier UFC cards way back when I'm interested to see MMA now. They will probably only show lower ranked guys and build up the PPV bouts of the big names but hopefully they will show classic fights too.

Both TV Guide and the Dish Network schedule that I have say it will be on. If you're on the east coast it will probably be on at 9:00 unless it conflicts with another sports program and has to be delayed.

Angle-Plex you must put program your VCR to record the show.

Mir & Sierra put on a BJJ clinic on how to work a submission when the opponet is trying to resist. Sierra got a big vignette(sp?) on how he was an instructor for Renzo Gracie at the BJJ NYC school. They also had him demostrate some of his favorite moves and his striking abilities at the gym.

I'd like to see this as a regular show.

I wasn't into the first bout (it bored me, actually), but I liked the Mir / Williams fight (all 30 seconds of it.....arms don't bend that way) and the Cerra fight.

Next time I'd like to see some better fighters, though. Give me some Tito Ortiz.

next week will have Tito Ortiz and Newton in action

the 1st match was more of a Muay Thai fight, with alot of strikes of Knees. Whenever they went to the mat nothing happened, no real attempts at submissions or chokes. It was apperant that the fighters had not clue at BJJ with the choke attempt on the cage, the guy was riding his back for nearly 2 full minutes, without a takedown or a solid choke hold.

the Mir vs Williams match was a big surpise to me, with Pete giving up so early. But then again he did not look in shape either.

It was a good show. I still like PRIDE much better than UFC, but UFC could probably get more popular in the United States out of the two.

if only it was on FX in primetime then it will get notice. Or maybe instead of the stupid eating contest or that 30 seconds stupid human trick talent show. UFC belongs on FOX in primetime not on a 3rd tier sports channel.

I think the winner of the 1st match was from the Hook N Shoot promotion.

I know next to dick about MMA.

But I was kind of surprised when they said that Williams knocked out Coleman.

Maybe I'm wrong, but Williams just didn't look like the kind of guy I'd expect to be doing something like that.

it was a few years back, like in UFC 16 or something in that time period. I think Pete was able to beat Coleman because it went into overtime, also back then I think Pete was training with the Shamrock brothers in the Lions Den.

The UFC tv show is on again tonight and it might be a regular show on Fox Sports Net. Check your regional fox sports affiliates. I hope it's on every week and get exposure for ufc.

2 title fights

Milatich vs Newton

Ortiz vs Sinosic

and promos for the Tito Ortiz vs Ken Shamrock

Tito is a good heel, giving the Lion's Den the Stone Cold Salute.

As JR would say "Ortiz is saying that Shamrock is either #1 or #11"

Yes. That was one of the biggest upsets ever. Knocked Coleman out with a kick to the head.

I'm torn on this UFC thing. I'm not big on MMA, have never watched much of them. And here's pretty much why: most of the fights just seem either too slow or too fast for me.

Take last night's show:

Mir fight was too quick for me to get into it.

The Milletech / Newton match seemed a bit too slow for me (not as slow as last week's welterweight fight, though) except for the exciting finish.

The Ortiz fight ended nicely, but it was about 2 minutes of grappling....not terribly eventful or thrilling.

I figure the PPVs have the good, exciting fights, but I just want something with a little more flash I guess.

UFC as it is today seems like its either all striking or all ground fights. I wish UFC would do a no weight class tourny like they did in the early days. Or have an event like Ultimate Ultimate 96 again with a Grand Prix like tourny.

Tito Ortiz is going to destroy Ken Shamrock in the match, the only way I think Shamrock can win is if it goes to the ground for a submission.

Tito can out strike Ken with punch and knees.
