New Uniforms

It occured to me today, sitting in the office (Doing shit nothing as always...Gotta love poor economy) I turned to ESPN and saw the Braves shit kicking the Marlins...nothing new there of course..However I saw that Atlanta was wearing the 70's jersey and been wearing for awhile.

Florida also had a new uniform as well...

Then I remembered Oakland brought back the dayglo unis.

Washington Rskins got a new suit and helmet as did Buffalo and Seattle...and Cleveland will wear a "Special" Orange uniform this season (Which is BS since Cincy had the Orange Unis for years).

Why are teams getting new unis? Is it a Marketing thing or Fiancial thing?

I'm in Buffalo...and we have no idea what the point of the change was.

The home jerseys are nice...but the road jerseys are terrible.

They put in for them a while ago...which is funny...because I don't think they would have sold too many coming off of that season...

then they got Beldsoe and sold a ton of them.

Go figure.

Seattle changed because its a new stadium and the logo hadn't been updated in like 25 years.

From what I understand some of the leagues require to apply for a uniform change a couple of years before you actually change it. Which makes sense, since it gives you a chance to explore whatever changes you want to make.

But what I really want to know is why MLB has 20 different variations of the team uniforms...

So each team can sell 20 different jerseys.

Those Marlins uni's aren't new, they're 1982 Miami Marlins uni's.

Hey, another Buffalonian smark! Howdy!

Yeah, my father and I have had Bills season tickets for like the past 15 years. I'm not a big fan of the uniform change, but the team looks great this year, so that evens things out a bit.

Everyone around here is talking Superbowl, which is WAY too premature. I'm hoping for a Wild Card spot, then we'll see what happens from there.

Well the Red Sox have really never changed their uniforms except to modernize the with the rest of MLB, like button shirts instead of pullovers and longer pants, so I guess the Sox are still wearing their 70s uniforms too. NYY is the same way.

some teams wear the old-school jersey from 20 years ago, and some times they represent the negro-league jersey's

Remember, though, that happens in every Major League Sport city. I mean, even though the Bengals will suck, they'll be talking Superbowl at least until the first preseason game...

Actually if you notice back in the 80's the redsox away uni's were grey with dark blue lettering, NOW it's grey with red lettering.

As for Buffalo making the playoffs....

"PLAYOFFS.....PLAYOFFS!!!!!????"

I say good luck to you Buffalo fans cause I guarauntee you will see just as many touchdown passes from Bledsoe by the other team's D as you see from Buffalo's O.

The Braves are only wearing the old retro uni's for one more series. It was an on-line vote to pick the most memorable year for the Braves and they chose 1974, the year Hank Aaron broke the HR record.

I like the old Braves uniforms. Don't know what it is, but it seems to make them look better.

It gives them Character. The drab Gray and Marroon sucks.

I just hope the reds don't revert back to the all white look back in 1996.

You should consider yourselves lucky!

Here in England, the football (soccer) teams all change their shirts every two years. That's home, away and third kit, every two years.

This is only for financial reasons as demand for these shirts is high, and despite being able to make the shirts for £5, they are sold for £35 - 40(about US$60).

That just goes to show that Europe is bizzare.

Uniform changes aren't always bad. The old Ravens uniform with the black pants was ugly and I like the new Giants uniform. I haven't seen the Buffalo uniform yet, but I had no problem with the old one.
