Guest chirs3 Posted July 24, 2002 Report Posted July 24, 2002 I haven't found anything online to support this yet, but I heard just now that Rob Lowe will soon be leaving The West Wing, because they won't agree to pay him as much as he wants. Anyone know anything about this? ... and while I'm at it, how could you leave The West Wing?! It's only the greatest TV show ever, with the best cast, the best writers, and the best selection of music for season finales! Bah.
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Posted July 24, 2002 Report Posted July 24, 2002 <<shrugs>> If he wants to leave, let him. I don't watch the Left Wing anyway. Is his departure like Franz leaving NYPD Blue? Or is it more like Gordon Clapp?
Guest starvenger Posted July 24, 2002 Report Posted July 24, 2002 Well, Rob isn't exactly known for good decisions - remember that incident with the underaged girls?
Guest Vyce Posted July 24, 2002 Report Posted July 24, 2002 ... and while I'm at it, how could you leave The West Wing?! Actually, I think the show is perhaps one of the most overrated in the past 10 years or so.
Guest chirs3 Posted July 24, 2002 Report Posted July 24, 2002 Bah, you people have no taste. Don't like the West Wing? Fine. But he's leaving because they won't pay him as much as he wants. Greedy bastard. I hope they kill him in the show.
Guest razazteca Posted July 24, 2002 Report Posted July 24, 2002 so Rob Lowe is going to have a movie career again?
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Posted July 25, 2002 Report Posted July 25, 2002 "Bah, you people have no taste. Don't like the West Wing? Fine. David Caruso left NYPD Blue his first season for a "movie" career and look what happened to him... That chick who played Clooney's wife on ER left for a "movie" career and look what happened to her... Once Lowe wipes the egg off his face regarding his post Left Wing stint you'll feel vindicated. Trust me.
Guest Ripper Posted July 25, 2002 Report Posted July 25, 2002 Ever think that Rob is getting a shit deal. They didn't know how big the show was going to be. He probably signed one of those little contracts that everyone gets when a show starts, the show became enormously popular and rakes in huge revenues, and he feels he should make more money. If you are bashing a guy for wanting a raise when he is part of why the show is doing well...then what would you do at your job. If you got hired to a 2 person business and help make it a multimillion dollar corperation, wouldn't you want a raise. Its not the same as those others named. They actually got good deals offered to them and said they would rather try and make movies. And while West Wing is a good show, it is VERY overrated...and that season finale was a piece o crap if you ask me. That really let me down.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted July 25, 2002 Report Posted July 25, 2002 I don't watch the West Wing...but before the show Rob Lowe use to be a joke in the SNL weekend update...that show re-made him somebody.
Guest Nevermortal Posted July 25, 2002 Report Posted July 25, 2002 No, Wayne's World made him something!
Guest Ripper Posted July 25, 2002 Report Posted July 25, 2002 Lowe was making 75,000 a ep and Sheen just got a raise to 300,000 a ep. Every other cast member got a raise last year except for lowe(although, their raises took them to about his and SHeens original salaries, but they are the stars of the show.) This show and Lowe helped each other equally. The first season, the show was basically about him and Sheen with everyone else kinda hanger ons. I think he has the right to ask for a raise. They aren't offering him anything but Scheen gets his salary tripled? Come on...you would be pissed too.

If you take that into consideration there's no way you can blame Rob Lowe for being angry and leaving the show unless he gets a raise. He's one of the central characters still and now everyone in any regular role is making the same money that he is.
Guest MDH257 Posted July 25, 2002 Report Posted July 25, 2002 He was the only one not to get a raise since the show started. The studio wouldn't even pretend that they interested in givng him a raise. Ego, Money, and Stubborness. That's all it is.
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Posted July 25, 2002 Report Posted July 25, 2002 My question is how pivotal a role is his character? Using NYPD terms, is he closer to Sipowicz or Metavoy(sp)?
Guest MDH257 Posted July 25, 2002 Report Posted July 25, 2002 As important as anyone on the show not named Martin Sheen. Lowe is not anymore important than Bradley Whitford, John Spencer, or Richard Schiff. Martin Sheen isn't the focus of every episode, but he is clearly the series' lead actor. This isn't a David Caruso situation where the most important character is leaving the show. To answer the question. He's not as important as Sipowicz, but he's more important than Meadovoy.
Guest Vyce Posted July 26, 2002 Report Posted July 26, 2002 Martin Sheen getting 300 grand for ANYTHING is absolutely sickening.
Guest NazMistry Posted July 26, 2002 Report Posted July 26, 2002 <<shrugs>> If he wants to leave, let him. I don't watch the Left Wing anyway. Left Wing? I think Right Wing is more appropriate considering the source material.
Guest J*ingus Posted July 26, 2002 Report Posted July 26, 2002 Martin Sheen getting 300 grand for ANYTHING is absolutely sickening. Blasphemy! ::whacks Vyce with a copy of Apocalypse Now::
Guest Ripper Posted July 26, 2002 Report Posted July 26, 2002 Lowe character is the only other one that could be considered a lead actor on the show. He is second in importance on the show. The guy should get a raise from the beganing of the show...
