wh00! OK, confirmed non-spoiler matches for Smackdown! that I know of are...

 

Rey Rey! vs. Chavo Guerrero Jr. - Chavo laid out the challenge for Rey Mysterio Jr. last week, and even though he has yet to officially announce it, it's officially announced. wh00! I hope this match r0x0rs so we can see more of Chavo and that Rey Mysterio gets off to a good start. No word yet if The Rock will interfere with more tired, offensive, unfunny Mexican jokes.

 

Chris Jericho vs. Edge - This was supposed to take place on Sunday, but was moved so Edge/Hogan could drop the tag titles. The Smackdown! official preview says it's a cage match now, don't remember when that was decided, but go figure the WWE's non-spoiler official preview would spoil their own show

 

Team Canada © vs. Hogan/Rock (Tag Team Titles) - This is a joke, right? Oh well, no matter how much they'll cheat (oh, and you know they will) to win, a win over such a high-profile team should get Team Canada a pretty good reaction. No word yet on how many tired, offensive, unfunny Canadian jokes The Rock will make in his 20-minute boring promo.

 

THE BROCK IS ON SMACKDOWN!!!!!!11 - On this week's RAW, Stephanie McMahon, Smackdown's GM, stole Brock from Eric Bischoff's RAW roster, possibly in a form of "revenge" for Bischoff signing her ex-husband HHH. Who knows what those wacky GM's will try this week? Oh yea... who wants to bet since Y2J has his match with Edge, THE BROCK will do interference duty this week. Why the hell else would Rock/Hogan be a tag team?

Yea, I was actually going to call the thread WWE Thunder, but then it probably wouldn't have gotten pinned. Anyway, do you think Rey Mysterio's already been cut down into the "WWE style", or that he'll bust out a ton of impressive moves and, in doing so, up the bar for the entire cruiserweight division?

Actually, last week I posted it an hour earlier - at around 9pm PST (my time) because I knew I'd forget and by the time I woke up the next day it'd be too late.

 

This is the fastest it's ever gotten pinned though... every time before I made it late at night, but it didn't get pinned until I woke up the next afternoon.

This Thursday's episode of SmackDown! kicks off from the Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on UPN!

 

This past Sunday at Vengeance, SmackDown! G.M. Stephanie McMahon said that she was going to steal the heart of RAW this past Monday. By the end of the first RAW of the Eric Bischoff era, Stephanie had indeed stolen an intricate part of The Bisch's program when she led Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman into her limo! What's Lesnar's relationship with Stephanie? Has he signed with SmackDown!? Find out on UPN!

 

Also, last week on SmackDown!, Stephanie thanked Chris Jericho for graciously giving up his singles match against Edge at Vengeance so that Edge and Hollywood Hulk Hogan could defend their Tag Team Championship on SmackDown! In return, Steph informed Y2J that he would be facing Edge in a singles match this Thursday on SmackDown! How with Jericho fare against Edge in a steel cage this Thursday? The Tag Team Champioship will be on the line, as Lance Storm and Christian defend their titles against Hollywood Hulk Hogan and The Rock!

 

Also, SmackDown! will mark the WWE debut of Rey Mysterio, who will be in action against Chavo Guerrero!

Mysterio is definetly a welcome addition to the roster. I saw him at a house show a few weeks back and he looked phenomenal.

 

I wouldn't say that Knoble's matches have totally blown. While the Knoble/Hurricane match was a letdown, it appears that Knoble is going for a more mat-based style rather than a flip, flop and fly cruiser style. When people here cruiserweight, they just stereotypically figure "Hey, that there Knoble should be doing one of them there twisty dives" rather than actually wrestle.

 

Give me 15 minutes worth of Knoble/Mysterio at Summerslam, and I'll be happy.

Tonight's Smackdown will be a major show for WWE. Being that RAW ratings skyrocketed this week, a good rating for Smackdown could secure a final rebound for WWE. One of the things that seems to be helping with fan interest is the fact that WWE finally seems to be offering larger roles for mid-carders. With Eddie Guerrero receiving a main-event on RAW, Lesnar having an increased role on both Monday's RAW and tonight's Smackdown, Edge who seems to now have a huge reputation, and Mysterio who debuts tonight. The crowd was very hot for Smackdown, so one hopes that the enjoyment will also exist in the living rooms of wrestling fans. One key note to look out for is that Bischoff was on most of the show during RAW and does not have a major role tonight, so one must wonder how Bischoff's presence affects ratings.

I went to this show on Tuesday, and I will say this. The Rey-Chavo match is kick-ass, the main event is better than I expected, and Brock did get some legitamite heat at the show although I suspect they might blow it up somewhat when it airs tonight
