Guest Juvydriver Report post Posted February 20, 2002 I was sitting at work about a week ago reading a rant from Slamboree (I think) and it was mentioned that Scott has a serious dislike of Dory Funk Jr. I was just curious as to why. Is it because his matches are pretty boring or Is it maybe because the guy has looked exactly the same for the past 120 years? I swear the guy must have come out of the womb as a short, fat, middle age bald man. Juvy
Guest J*ingus Report post Posted February 20, 2002 Well, I've never seen what's considered to be his "best work" against Jack Brisco, etc. Most of Dory's matches that I've seen have been tag matches with Terry in All Japan, and those were usually against Brody, Hansen, the Sheik, Abdullah, and so on, so they were mostly wild no-contest brawls. Dory is supposedly one of the best technical wrestlers of all time, but is there anyone here who's seen more of his stuff who can offer a more informed opinion? Guest Juvydriver Report post Posted February 20, 2002 I've never seen his best work either, so I guess saying his matches are all boring might have been a bit of an overstatement. I should have probably said that all the matches that I have seen him involved in were pretty boring. Juvy
Guest Sassquatch Report post Posted February 21, 2002 It's a joke. Scott has said so in the past. He does not hate Dory, it's just some joke Scott had going on.
Guest Sassquatch Report post Posted February 21, 2002 This goes to everyone... Go out NOW and buy every bit of footage with Dory in Florida. That stuff is GOLD. He had some great matches and angles down there. His work in Armarillo was pretty good as well. And Dory's title matches with Harley Race and Jack Brisco along with his 2/3 falls match with Jack Brisco in 1975 are gold. Dory is a bit of an acquired taste for some while most people seem to like Terry's older stuff more instead of Dory's solo work.
