Guest EQ Posted July 25, 2002 Report Posted July 25, 2002 A lot of thought is normally given to putting songs in at certain points in movies or TV. Is there one that stands out in your mind as having been well done (i.e. - A song that seemed really relevant given the other things going on in that show/movie)
Guest godthedog Posted July 25, 2002 Report Posted July 25, 2002 no contest: in 'lost highway', during the sex scene in the desert they play 'song to the siren' by this mortal coil. the scene was great by itself, but the music made it transcendental. some runners-up: 'thus spoke zarathustra' in 2001 'everything in its right place' by radiohead, during the titles of 'vanilla sky' the waltz from 'eyes wide shut' 'be my little baby' during the opening titles of 'mean streets' 'jumping jack flash' when robert de niro walks in the bar, from 'mean streets' almost anything from 'pulp fiction' 'one', 'wise up', and 'save me', all from 'magnolia' everyone on the bus singing 'tiny dancer', from 'almost famous'
Guest Youth N Asia Posted July 25, 2002 Report Posted July 25, 2002 I like how "Paint it Black" comes up as soon as Full Metal Jack ends...as soon as Charlie's first drum shot hits Directed by Stanley Kubrick pops right up I don't know what song it was, I think it was Coldplay, slow song with piano... but the last 5 minutes of the the last episode of The Shield was great.
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Posted July 25, 2002 Report Posted July 25, 2002 In the movie me and my friend Shannon are making, "Bound For The Floor" by Local H plays in the beginning when all of the main characters (and some random extras we'll find around town) are at some party. It'll work, trust me, especially because of the depressing nature of the movie... I think Dawn Of The Dead used the music from The Goblins really, really good. Return Of The Living Dead used the punk soundtrack EXCELLENTLY.
Guest cartman Posted July 25, 2002 Report Posted July 25, 2002 I loved the song(composed by Marylin Manson) that opened Resident Evil...I know I know I'm strange
Guest Ripper Posted July 25, 2002 Report Posted July 25, 2002 The theme to the Godfather...not only did it go to the movie, it is the perfect music for almost anything with a build.
Guest The Amazing Rando Posted July 25, 2002 Report Posted July 25, 2002 "The End" by The Doors playing at the beginning of Apocalypse Now
Guest Choken One Posted July 25, 2002 Report Posted July 25, 2002 I think "The End" is the famous song to ever accompy a movie. I agree with the use of Aimee Mann's songs in Magnolia.
Guest godthedog Posted July 25, 2002 Report Posted July 25, 2002 I think "The End" is the famous song to ever accompy a movie. seems to me that 'zarathustra' would hold that title. you can meet people who will listen to 'the end' and not think of coppola, but when you hear those 3 beats of horns, EVERYBODY thinks of 2001. most people aren't even aware that the song wasn't done specifically for the movie.
Guest areacode212 Posted July 30, 2002 Report Posted July 30, 2002 I thought it was pretty funny to hear Joy Division's "Love Will Tear Us Apart" in the "goth music video" scene in Series 7: The Contenders. I also liked Thompson Twins's "If You Were Here" at the end of Sixteen Candles.
Guest starvenger Posted July 30, 2002 Report Posted July 30, 2002 Yello's "Oh, yeah" in either Ferri's Bueller's Day Off or The Secret of My Success. It worked well in both of them, IMO...
Guest Shaved Bear Posted July 30, 2002 Report Posted July 30, 2002 oh yeah by Yello in Ferris Bueller worked out really well
Guest The Amazing Rando Posted July 30, 2002 Report Posted July 30, 2002 I really enjoy Apocalypse Now...."The End" and "Ride of the Valkyries" make it cool... and I do enjoy "Oh Yeah" by Yello....because it is very memorable in FBDO
