Online Gaming?

Do you play games online?

For a little while, I tried Ultima Online... and I got bored with that really fast. I got tired with it because it seemed like all you do is point and click. The most fun I ever had with that game was when I made a character named: "Sir Fuckalot". Then I ran around the town talking to people until a GM caught me.

Now, and AWESOME online game is Worms. I only like to play when I'm networked with people in the same room or a couple of rooms away so we can scream at each other.

I love playing on-line games. I still play StarCraft and Diablo 2 almost everyday.

And you just can't beat a good Counter Strike game with 8 or so people.

Gemstone III - best online RPG I've played, though I haven't played the biggies (EQ, Asheron). Is insanely popular, though not too well known. Most people go "Text based? Ewww..." but really, after a while, you stop seeing text.

Starcraft - Best. Online. Game. EVER.

Diablo II - When I had it, it was good fun. I losted it.

I also go to www.games.com for Scrabble every now and then.

I used to play Microsoft's Asheron's Call. It was fun, but there were more downtimes & hard times then there were good times, and its an exploiters/cheaters paradise.

I haven't in a while, but I played Quake II over GameSpy a lot.

Ahh...Memories. I used to rock Quake 2 online ALL DAY at RPI. My fav online game of all time.

Yeah, Quake II essentially blew any other non-RTS game out of the water for multiplayer goodness for a solid two-year span. There's probably still 300 people that play it today.

My favorite online games are the original Diablo, Rogue Spear and Worms. Worms online is outright hilarity, PvP in the original Diablo is second-to-none, and doing team deathmatches in Rogue Spear have literally raised the hairs on the back of my neck.

None of the MMORPGs ever really appealed to me, except for Ultima Online, which really hasn't been anything except gonads and strife since it came out. I played Anarchy Online for a little bit as a beta tester, but it just didn't captivate me - it seemed geared more towards number crunchers, as opposed to roleplayers.

CounterStrike is pretty good, but I got bored with it a lot quicker than I did with Quake 2...I can't really explain it - the game just seems old to me.

And I haven't gotten a chance to play it, but I hear that Neverwinter Nights is the new digital Jesus.

I used to play SubSpace a lot. None of you have probably heard of it, but it was basically online Asteroids, and was really fucking addictive. Too addictive. After multiple failed attempts to stop playing it, I finally uninstalled the thing, so hopefully that will keep me from going back to it. The problem with online games, and the reason I'll probably never really get into another one, is that they just suck the time out of your life. Yeah, I loved playing SubSpace, but there was nothing more depressing than getting home from classes, starting to play SubSpace and then realizing seven hours later that it was midnight and that all I'd done from the time I got home until the time I went to bed was play a stupid game. It's much easier for me to show restraint with offline games.

Does anyone have Jedi Knight Dark Forces 2? There is a really cool level that you can download that has the RAW arena.

I used to love playing Multiplayer Battletech (and 3025 until EA killed it).

Air Warrior was fun for a while before I found Multiplayer Battletech.

And then there was Dragonrealms.

Last game I was playing online was Day of Defeat, but that was over 4 months ago.

A few days ago, I tried getting my XBOX online so I could play Halo multiplayer, but it didn't work.

I play Starcraft (or used too since my friend has the disk and my sister uninstalled it).
