XVIII Commonwealth Games

Recommended Posts

Guest Kahran Ramsus

First of all, any Americans should ignore this, but the Commonwealth Games are underway from Manchester.

1 Gold & 1 Silver for Canada before the Games were officially opened.

What did everyone think of the Opening Ceremonies?

Personally, I felt that it was much better than the last few Olympics openers.

i missed it, though i will prolly burn the midnight oil and watch a few events. 1 gold and 1 bronze, could australia go nuts like 4 years ago in KL?

also, the hypocrisy of the australian sporting authorities was again highlighted by the reaction to the positive drug test by that shooter.

Are those the only medals that were given out before the Opening Ceremonies?

If so, a 3 way tie for first place.

Yeah those were. No other medals have been given out yet. They are just doing prelims right now.

There's an oxymoron for ya. Can't they just call it "figure swimming" or something?

I think they should just can it, like they did in the Summer Olympics.

I watched that press conference with the Canadian who got busted with a banned substance in his blood. That was seriously one of the saddest things I've ever seen.

BTW, he had 3.06 mg of the stuff in his blood, and the max allowed is 2. For comparison, Canadian field hockey player Steve Vezina was caught at the last Games with the same stuff, except he had 16 mg. That's a fuckin' shame, right there. If it was in the doctor-prescribed supplements he was taking, then I demand to know how the fuck this quack got his license.

There's still no reason to cry like a baby!

He's still got the B test and if he is as innocent as he says, it should be clear.

So far, the medals race is a three between England, Canada, and Australia, pretty much as predicted.
