Guest starvenger Report post Posted July 29, 2002 Manchester is the shittiest place on earth My girlfriend's from Birmingham, and she'd argue that THAT is the shittiest place on Earth. Mind you, I haven't taken her to Buffalo yet - that'll probably change her mind.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted July 30, 2002 Buffalo is much better than Detroit. Anyways, Canada ruled it in gymnastics today.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted July 31, 2002 I see Thorpe is still the greatest.

Guest TJH Report post Posted August 1, 2002 Honestly, what a joke the Commonwealth Games are. Sure, Australia has won 109 medals (so far) but the fact is, apart from Canada, England and Australia all the Commonwealth countries are either third world or have tiny populations. Someone should have a good hard look at whether the Games should be abolished (and say yes). I am a proud Aussie, but at least I have the common sense to realise this event means nothing whatsoever (unlike the editors of the Herald Sun, if you're from Melbourne you'll know what I mean). Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted August 2, 2002 They should absolutely not abolish it. Not every event can be the Olympics.
Guest TJH Report post Posted August 2, 2002 I don't really see any point to it. All it is is just Australia vs England vs Canada with a couple of cameo appearances. Some of the best athletes in the waorld are competing BUT, they aren't competing against anyone half decent.

In Canada, aside from the Olympics & the Pan-American Games this is pretty much it as far as amateur sports goes. Of all the countries here, only Australia is capable of dominance at the Olympic level. For everyone else at the games, it means a lot.
Guest TJH Report post Posted August 3, 2002 Maybe Australia should be split up into states? It would make it much more interesting.
Guest IPCRivalSchools Report post Posted August 3, 2002 If they split Australia, you'd get Queensland, NSW and maybe ACT dominating, with Tasmania, etc shut out - Thugh seeing state of origin sevens would be great stuff - especially if Alfie Langer could get a medal. Besides, to watch the smaller nations' teams/athletes obvisouly having the time of their lives at this sporting level makes the vent all worthwhile IMO. Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted August 5, 2002 Click for Full Medal Count Australia is the first ever nation to get to 200 medals.
Guest TJH Report post Posted August 6, 2002 If they split Australia, you'd get Queensland, NSW and maybe ACT dominating What possible reason could you give for the ACT dominating. And Langer plays League, not Union. Typical intelligent Queenslander.
Guest IPCRivalSchools Report post Posted August 6, 2002 No reason - they just might in terms of the pecking order for the Australian states/territories. Having watched the Orign Series, an being a Broncos fan, I'm well aware that Alfie plays league - however, we picked Marcus St. Hilaire for the England 7's squad, and he plays league for St. Helens, so I'm not sure how much that distinction matters for an event such as this - anyhoo it'd just be cool to see Aflie get a medal. Ian (who wouldn't mind being a Queenslander really, but not from NSW)
