Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted July 26, 2002 Report Posted July 26, 2002 It occured to me what bothered me most about Sabu/Shamrock on Wednesday wasn't the non-finish...as someone pointed out Sabu wasn't going to win anyway...so a cliffhanger isn't that bad an idea. No...what bothers me is... ...they were halfway through a fairly decent, and better than expected match. What I mean is...they did the mat wrestling/trading submission holds half...then did a couple of spots...but they never got to the ladder. There was more than just an ending missing...there was a second half! Had they had another 5-7 minutes with Sabu coming close to reaching the belt...and him spotting off of the ladder...then the inevitable spot where Sabu is going to reach the belt and Shamrock locks in the anklelock (which should end with Sabu kicking Shamrock off...then trying to climb again...but having his ankle buckle and fall off...leaving Shamrock to climb the ladder and get the belt). Is it just me...or would that have been a pretty darn good main event?

If Sabu would do more work like that, he could hide his flaws (missing spots when that's all he does, generic spot-fest offense, can barely run) with decent matwork and then hit the highspots everybody loves when they're needed. Sabu/Shamrock II - The fans demand it, Jerry.

Man...if they could have just had the second half as I described it...that would have been the best Sabu match in a LONG time...and put Shamrock over as a more credible champion (since his last 2 title defenses have been no decisions). Come on Jerry!
Guest Bloodice Posted July 27, 2002 Report Posted July 27, 2002 I would personally like to see a nice long sabu vs shamrock feud as I think it would be a good one. Hell throw sabut in with malice and you have a great top set for a sadistic and brutal team or stable.

He just does what he knows the fans are gonna like. Here, most want insane spot Sabu. There, they want mat Sabu. He really is a lot more flexible than some realize. I would also like to see Shamrock/Sabu 2. They had a bizarre chemistry working there.
