Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted July 26, 2002 What's the backstory between these two. HHH never wants to give Jericho any sort of rub and has never really put him over. He's been critical of Jericho numerous times. It almost seems like he goes out of the way to make him look bad.
Guest HartFan86 Report post Posted July 26, 2002 When Jericho got signed, he bad mouthed HHH for not a main reason. HHH and him have had heat since, well, basically Day 1.
Guest FeArHaVoC Report post Posted July 26, 2002 Also, HHH got pissed because Jericho worked too stiff with Chyna.
Guest mach7 Report post Posted July 26, 2002 When Jericho got signed, he bad mouthed HHH for not a main reason. HHH and him have had heat since, well, basically Day 1. "For not a main reason" ? What the hell does that even mean?
Guest welshjerichomark Report post Posted July 26, 2002 jericho is said to be a stiff wrestler, he didnt stiff chyna any moreso than the other people he was facing at the time. so whats the problem?i thought chyna wanted to be treated like 'one of the guys' he did what was nessesary to get that fued over. Guest Brian Report post Posted July 26, 2002 Jericho's a blond wrestler who attempted to cross over into the mainstream before HHH did.
Guest welshjerichomark Report post Posted July 26, 2002 hhh is basically just an ugly, talentless dweeb who since coming back from injury has just held people down and been a waste of space.......agrrrrrrrggghhhhhhhh o yeah and boned the bosses daughter.
Guest DJ Jeff Report post Posted July 26, 2002 Well, when you bang the bosses' daughter, you get alot of pull backstage. Anyways, I think it's good now that HHH is on RAW because now, Jericho won't be held down as much. Actually, to be honest, I don't think HHH has that much backstage pull, so I don't think he held down Jericho that much lately. I know he used to hold down various superstars, but not as much I don't think lately.
Guest The Man in Blak Report post Posted July 26, 2002 I'm guessing that his feud with Chyna did a lot towards starting the great gap between 'em. There's been some subtle sniping between them on-and-off camera - somehow, I don't think Triple H's reaction to Jericho doing the DX crotch chop at Fully Loaded was scripted. Guest welshjerichomark Report post Posted July 26, 2002 oh man jerichos crotch chop was the biggest mark out moment of my young life
Guest The Man in Blak Report post Posted July 26, 2002 I agree - that moment basically made that match, but judging by the initial look on Trip's face, I'm not sure if it was authorized, as recognizing Helmsley's DX past was probably the last thing that the WWF wanted to do at that time. Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted July 26, 2002 IIRC, HHH had some not exactly kind comments for Jericho on the WWE radio show before Jericho even signed. The question was something like "What do you think of the rumors that Chris Jericho is coming to the WWF?" The answer was along the lines of he'll never be a star. Then...Loss4Words was telling me about a Byte This that had HHH and Jericho both on about 4-5 months into Jericho's arrival. HHH was the first guest and then when Jericho came on they traded shots at each other. HHH started in with "Chris Jericho, you look bigger than you do on TV" Then Jericho countered with "Shouldn't you be off somewhere banging the bosses daughter" And it stuff like that. So...no...I don't think they like each other.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted July 26, 2002 That DX crotch chop was classic. I'm gonna watch that match tonight
Guest DJ Jeff Report post Posted July 27, 2002 It's no secret that HHH and Jericho don't like each other that much. What I'd like to know is why they detest each other. I mean, what does HHH have against Jericho anyways, and vice versa? I'm actually surprised that Jericho won the WWE Undisputed Title since HHH supposedly had some backstage pull. By the way, I don't really know if HHH has any backstage pull at all.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted July 27, 2002 DJ, if HHH has no pull, there are a lot of unexplained coincidences.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted July 27, 2002 HHH is the reason WHY Jericho won the title. He pushed for Jericho to get that push while he was away. And if anyone has to wonder why in the world HHH would do that. What happened to Jericho, his title reign and his heat upon HHH's return?
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted July 27, 2002 I don't hate HHH but isnt it funny after Jericho became mega over thanks to his feuds with HHH and Benoit- he feuds with X-Pac?? I'm just saying
Guest CanadianChris Report post Posted July 27, 2002 Not to mention Kane. Over coffee. For months on end.
Guest BigTim2002 Report post Posted July 27, 2002 If what you guys said about having heat between the two from day 1 is true, then I would think that the Kane/Jericho feud over hot coffee is the most ironic feud ever depicted...just my humble opinion... Guest undisputedjericho Report post Posted July 27, 2002 I don't even remember him doing the DX chop during that (LMS, no?) match...and even so, wasn't HHH buddying around with DX 3.5 at that point anyway?
Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted July 27, 2002 It originally started with Kevin Nash in WCW. When Jericho jumped to the WWF to avoid the WCW politics, Nash gave instructions to HHH to bury him. That's the story, anyways.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted July 27, 2002 It took HHH 2 and a half years to figure out how to do it too. HE spent a good part of 2000 trying to destroy Jericho's heat by pulling the "You're not in my league" then beating him...then pulling the "I proved he wasn't in my league" stuff in interviews. But it didn't work because Jericho's face heat couldn't be damaged. So...HHH gets hurt...lobbies for a Jericho push to the top as a heel...and what happens? "You're not in my league" then beats him...TWICE...and once again doesn't put Jericho over even verbally after the matches. Jericho: "Man...I'm still beat up from HHH on Sunday...he's tough" HHH: "The Hell in a Cell is one of the most brutal matches there is. But I won." and Jericho's heat slips away. Guest Sakura Report post Posted July 27, 2002 Jericho had heat? And I doubt Jericho made any jabs at HHH "banging the bosses daughter", especially 4 to 5 months after his debut. The McMahon-Helmsley Era was either not happening yet or just starting then. All we really know is that HHH has taken some shots at Jericho, making cute little "shoot" comments like HBK does. That's it. We don't know if they detest each other. We don't know what Jericho thinks of HHH or his "burial" or any of that crap, or if he even cares. But I guess that doesn't make for an interesting topic.
Guest DJ Jeff Report post Posted July 27, 2002 Now it makes sense as to why Jericho won the WWE Undisputed Title at Vengeance and lost it to HHH at Wrestlemania X-8. Out of the entire roster, Jericho was the one superstar HHH wanted to take the WWE Undisputed Title from. Remember, there were rumors that HHH was scheduled to return at Vengeance but never did. By the way, I'm not saying that's true or not, but I did hear that numerous times leading up to Vengeance. Anyways, I'm thinking that had HHH returned at Vengeance, he would have screwed Jericho out of winning the WWE Undisputed Title, and went on to Wrestlemania X-8 to face whoever Jericho faced in the final match, which I believe was Austin. However, this didn't happen, and we saw HHH beat Jericho for the WWE Undisputed Title at Wrestlemania X-8. Anyways, whenever I see a HHH vs. Jericho fued/match, I always think about the backstage politics now.
Guest thebigjig Report post Posted July 27, 2002 I do know that HHH was on some radio show either at the time of WrestleMania or a little afterwards, and the DJ asked him his thoughts on Jericho and he replied something along the lines of "Jericho is a very gifted athelete and someday he will probably be a star" read between the lines on that one if you will

Oh... I get it! I still don't really believe the whole "HHH conspiracy theory though", although I also don't deny Jericho has looked like a total fool since losing the title. Even look at last night... Jericho is too weak to leave the cage through the door, when Edge, who's taken the same beating from the match, has more than enough strength to climb over? Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted July 27, 2002 HHH was on Conan the week before MAnia...and he said that Jericho was missing something that he couldn't put his finger on before he could be a top guy. This was before...what is the point of discrediting a guy BEFORE you beat him? Then you did nothing but beat someone that was made out to be no good in the first place. Oh...wait...that probably was the point.
Guest Sakura Report post Posted July 27, 2002 what is the point of discrediting a guy BEFORE you beat him? But the comment was out of character. He was saying Jericho is missing something to be a star, not anything about his ability to win a wrestling match. And that was on Conan!? But the bottom line is that he(or anyone else) shouldn't be saying shit like that on ANY show. Though I do agree with him about Jericho not having "it". I think it's his mic skills. He doesn't come across as a main event style of promo to me, his interviews are for a mid card act. But anyway...

The point is that he KNEW that he would beat Jericho, and so why not at least verbally put the guy over. I don't believe that HHH is behind all of WWE's bad moves, but the fact is that Jericho has never beaten HHH at a PPV. That's just ridiculous.
Guest Sakura Report post Posted July 27, 2002 Because the topic was what Jericho needs to do to be a big star, not if he can win a fake wrestling match. What does their PPV record have to do with that? Nothing. And they've only fought each other on PPV like 3 times.
