Guest Mattdotcom Posted July 26, 2002 Report Posted July 26, 2002 My computer has been on the fritz for a while, now, but it got worse in the past two months. Today, I took my computer to Best Buy for a virus eradication, system tune-up, and had 128 MB of memory installed. It seems to have helped, except for this: I've been trying to get the EWR ame since it was released and the problem went like this: Cannot find the file "'C:\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\AIY5HF28\ewr[2].exe'" (or one of its components). Make sure the path and filename are correct and that all required libraries are available. I get that message when I try to download anything like EWR or a media player. What does it mean? I'll be the first to admit I don't know much about computers, but I've been getting this alot recently. So, should I try saving it to a disk? Or something else? Also, I thought that DLL program you can get on the EWR site might help, but I got the same message. What libraries should be available?
Guest The Man in Blak Posted July 26, 2002 Report Posted July 26, 2002 I'm not exactly sure why it's prompting you for any particular libraries on a download request...but I do know that the Temporary Internet Files folder is basically where IE caches all of your web-browsing stuff. My recommendation would be to clear out your cache (Tools/Internet Options/General tab, under Temporary Internet Files) and, hopefully, clear out some of those library-specific dependencies in the process.
Guest Mattdotcom Posted July 27, 2002 Report Posted July 27, 2002 I do that all the time, every day in fact.
Guest MrRant Posted July 27, 2002 Report Posted July 27, 2002 Try saving the file to your desktop.. that oughta work.
Guest The Man in Blak Posted July 27, 2002 Report Posted July 27, 2002 *smacks himself on the head* Oh, gawd. I didn't think about trying to open it directly from the site. Yeah - just save it to your desktop using the "Save As..." prompt when you click on it. Then run it there.
Guest Mattdotcom Posted July 27, 2002 Report Posted July 27, 2002 Will do, although a friend of mine is giving me the media players I need through AIM right now with no trouble. Thanks, fellas.
Guest Mattdotcom Posted July 27, 2002 Report Posted July 27, 2002 Tried it, didn't work, thanks to "Error: Could not copy file. [1026]". I'm paraprasing, but any help is welcomed.
Guest Mattdotcom Posted July 29, 2002 Report Posted July 29, 2002 I hate to bump, but I really need some help. I'm still getting Error 1026.
Guest areacode212 Posted July 30, 2002 Report Posted July 30, 2002 Try looking here, though MiB already suggested the same fix that Microsoft does. How much free space do you have on your HD?
Guest Mattdotcom Posted July 30, 2002 Report Posted July 30, 2002 Free space is a "whopping" 2.0 GB...
