Guest JaKyL25 Report post Posted July 27, 2002 Okay, this is the tournament of all the ECW World Champions, counting Shane Douglas as the first ever ECW World Champion when the fed changed their name from Eastern to Extreme. Since this is when the fed first considered themselves to have a World title, I'll just agree with that. Rankings are determined by # of reigns first, with impact as champ for tiebreakers. Although, admittedly I know little about ECW after Credible won the title, so the Credible/Lynn/Corino/Rhino rankings MAY be a little off. 15 Men held the ECW World Heavyweight title, so the #1 Seed, The Sandman, the only 4-time ECW World Champion, gets a bye to the next round. Here are the remaining 7 match-ups: #2-Shane Douglas vs. #15-Masato Tanaka #3-Raven vs. #14-Bam Bam Bigelow #4-Taz vs. #13-Sabu #5-Mike Awesome vs. #12-Rhino #6-Justin Credible vs. #11-Jerry Lynn #7-Terry Funk vs. #10-Tommy Dreamer #8-Steve Corino vs. #9-Mikey Whipwreck I gave Dreamer as high a ranking as I did because of what his winning the championship finally meant to the character and the fanbase. Voting begins now, runs until after Raw

Guest JaKyL25 Report post Posted July 29, 2002 Yoo-hoo!!! You forgot Tito Santana!! I dunno if that was in jest or not, but I'll answer it anyway. As explained in the opening post, since ECW itself didn't consider its title to be a World Title until they became Extreme Championship Wrestling, simply holding the Eastern Championship Wrestling Title is not enough to warrant placement in this tournament. Thank you.
Guest deadbeater Report post Posted July 29, 2002 So Tito Santana, Don Muraco, Johnny Hot Body and Jimmy Snuka are chopped liver, excuuuuse me. They didn't even call themselves Extreme until 1996, 2 years after Douglas trashed the NWA title.
Guest JaKyL25 Report post Posted July 29, 2002 So Tito Santana, Don Muraco, Johnny Hot Body and Jimmy Snuka are chopped liver, excuuuuse me. They didn't even call themselves Extreme until 1996, 2 years after Douglas trashed the NWA title. I've never even seen a picture of Johnny Hot Body, so he may well BE chopped liver for all of my ignorance, but I was in no means saying that the others were worthless, but rather just saying that no one, not even the federation in which they won the title, deems them as having been World Champions. And I'm 99.95% certain that Eastern Championship Wrestling became Extreme Championship Wrestling within a week after Douglas threw down the NWA strap. Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted July 29, 2002 They were Extreme in 1994, Tod Gordon made the switch right after Douglas threw down the belt. And let's face it, has anyone even seen footage of Snuka's one day title reign? I don't even think it's on tape anywhere...The list is perfect the way it is...ECW didn't get recognition till Douglas did the belt thing anyway, so that's the best place to start
