I was just wondering if anyone else likes the store? ;)

I've picked up some pretty hilarious shirts at Hot Topic. And they do have some great leather jackets/gloves and whatnot.

Yeah, some of the other paraphernalia is a little "disturbing", but it's nothing compared to wandering into a Mustard Seed or another Christian-based store in the mall.

I like the store but I can't tell if the place is for goths or teeny boppers because I see both there.

We don't have one around here, but I've been to it a couple times if I was in a mall that had one. Not a bad place. You can find some great shirt. And hey, it doesn't discriminate! Where else can you find a Mr. T shirt and goth leather goods in reach of each other?

Hot Topic is the thing I miss most about America.

Where else could I have cute (m)al(l)ternative females in the palm of my hand purely on the basis of my nondescript English accent? B)

Most of the people there are just freaks but they have good stuff there.

I used to work there......and trust me I dont understand why "preps" come into the damn store when they look at you weird and say why are you goth or just a plane freak......*sigh* I wanted to kill most of them that came in and did that to me or yeah......

As in freak, you mean crazy person with pink or green hair dressed up in black fishnet or something? Or freak as in a normal Gothic person....with black hair..kind of pale face, black lipstick (or dark color)....eyes lined with dark eyeliner and black eyeshadow (for females)....."goths" dont always wear black so ill count that out.......

I have a couple of items from there hanging in my closet, but as far as my taste goes, I don't think it's any better than, say, Gadzooks.

Just freaks. Wearing stupid looks that were outdated in 1993.

Somebody needs to tell these people that Goth is a sham. Along with Punk...

Punk was 75-83. Anyone else that calls themselfs "Punks" because they have orange mohawks and wear leather jackets with Social Distortion, U.K Subs and Dropkick Murpheys pinned on it,does not mean your a punk.

Goths that think GOTH still exists because you're wearing all black and fishnets and green lipstick and listen to Marilyn Manson are idiots Goth existed an died in the Late 1680's.

I've never ever been to one. I just checked their website, and the closest Hot Topic stores are in Staten Island and White Plains. I had never even heard of them until I came to this board and read posts about Jeff Hardy and Hot Topic.

That said, I think this would have been the kind of place I would have enjoyed going to in my misspent youth (around 1991).

It's alright, I go in there every once in awhile and buy a shirt or something. I've gotten a few cool T-shirts, some button up shirts, and a belt from there.

My one real complaint about Hot Topic is that everytime I go in there, so dumbass nu-metal or whiny emo is usually playing. The only exception is the time I walked in and heard Built to Spill playing ("Center of the Universe"). I got excited, and was just about to ask the person behind the register which fine employee with excellent musical taste put on this disc, when I realized it was just some random CD sampler that happened to have BtS on it. Oh well.

I got a neat Radiohead shirt there once. Also, I managed to find the scarf/ski cap combo that Christian wore (blue, white stars) during Edge's brutal semi-shoot promo on X-Pac. That's pretty awesome. Other than that, I wouldn't be caught dead in half of the stuff there.

they only had 1 metallica shirt, yet 4 million linkin park shirts, they have some cool stuff though if youre lucky

I found the furry hat that Saturn would wear from time to time last year, but the fuckers wanted $50 for it.

I must say that while they don't always have stuff in there that I like, the staff in there is pretty cool. They at least try and talk to the customers in there, just b/s~ing with them you know

May I just say that not all preps insult the alternative minded. I'm a prep, and I do my fair share of looking around in hot topic for gag T shirts and what not. Yeah, you get some asshole that thinks because they wear Abercrombie when you wear leather that they're better than you, but you know what, to each his own. They're not necessarily preps, just snobs.

That said, any store that carries Garbage Pail Kids T Shirts is OK with me.

Hey, even the Smartmarks favorite prep has to 'dress down' once in a while ;)

i pick up some stuff there like a nich shirt for shows or clubbing, but i feel old in there.

I also wonder how much they lose in theft because

1) the music is RIDICULOUSLY LOUD

2) the people working there very rarely pay attention

3) the people working there are stealing themselves

i guess the inflated prices make up for whatever they lose. I go to Hubba Hubba (small non chain store in Cambridge, MA) when presented with an option

I went in looking for some funny bumper stickers to put on the Regal, but apparently my hilarious sense of humor is different from a lot of people, as most of the bumper stickers involved random stationary objects, random animals, stolen (unfunny) Simpson's quotes, or extremly retarded gags/sayings. The girl working there stared at me blankly when I asked her if the carried any Social Distortion tee shirts, so I left. Enough with that. I have friends to visit Newbury Comics for me up in MA!!!
