Guest bob_barron Report post Posted July 27, 2002 Thelma Cornette, 68, the mother of Jim Cornette, passed away earlier today after a lengthy battle with cancer. Cornette was very close to his mother, who raised him by herself. When he was a kid, she would drive him to wrestling matches in the area which is where he got his first taste of the business. (from observer) My prayers go out to Jim Cornette and his family
Guest Mattdotcom Report post Posted July 27, 2002 I was reading she was in poor health and remembered reading (in Foley's book?) how close they were. This is just sad, heartbreaking.

Guest jimmy no nose Report post Posted July 27, 2002 I feel bad for Jim Cornette. He seems like such a nice guy from the time I met him, and this must be hard for him. I was just wondering if he still has a job with the WWE.

Guest Bloodice Report post Posted July 27, 2002 Yes I met jim back several years ago at the smokey mountain massacre card and he seemed really nice and took time to talk with all the fans after the show. R.I.P. Thelma
Guest franchise632 Report post Posted July 28, 2002 In regard to Jim's position with WWE, he is the director of the developmental program in OVW. Which is the only current indy fed that is sponsered by WWE. My thoughts and prayers go with Jim and the rest of his family. This has to be a most difficult time, however if you have a loved one that is suffering somtimes this can also come as a blessing as there pain is taken away. What a wonderful person Thelma was, we certainly have her to thank for Jim's participation in wrestling at the start of his career. She drove him all over the Memphis territory before he was old enough to drive. Without her its hard to say if Jim would be a part of the buisness. R.I.P.
