Of the franchises listed which do you think is the most powerful? This includes movies, TV shows, merch, etc.

My pick would be Star Trek. 5 series, 10 movies, books up the yin yang, comics, all kinds of merchandise from collectible plates and pins to action figures and mugs. And the conventions... JESUS CHRIST. They also have a ride in Las Vegas.

Star Wars. 5 movies so far, most among the top grossing films of all-time, constantly liked by the general public, many MANY novels, several comic titles, several video games, and toys up the wazoo.

I'll have to go with Star Wars. Star Trek has more stuff for it's fans (movies, TV, books etc) but Star Wars is much more popular worldwide.

In today's society - Star Wars.

BUT, overall - and by that I mean in the long-term - I think Star Trek has it beat. Trek will still be around, in some form or another, probably decades from now. Star Wars eventually HAS to run out of steam.

Nah...Star Wars is widely accepted by people as a great form of entertainment. Star Trek is still looked at as something for the geeks.

Bond

James Bond

It does not matter who plays the lead role, people will still watch it. Has the most movies based on the character with about 20.

Star Wars is just a merchandise vehicle for kids toys just like Pokemon

Schumacher screwed up the Batman franchise

Christopher Reeves will always be Superman

Lucy is funny on Nick at Night or Tv land thats about it

Star Trek is sci fi for an older audience than Star Wars.....Restitance if Futile

As long as Geeks roam the earth, Star Wars and Star Trek will have a market.

What is the criteria for "powerful"? Popularity? Moneymaking ability? Overall quality? Longevity? Personal favorite? Lots of those choices will fit into one of these categories, but not others.

Star Wars has made more money than a lot of those other franchises combined, so it gets the nod.

Its a battle between Star Wars and James Bond here folks. None of the others are even close.

As it stands, Bond is popular, but not nearly as popular as Star Wars. 4 of the 5 Star Wars movies were the highest grossing movie the year they were released, and the other would have if not for the Spiderman phenomenon. 3 of the films (TPM, ANH & ROTJ) are in the top ten highest grossing films of all time. Both the highest grossing sequel and highest grossing prequel of all-time are Star Wars films. The orginally trilogy made more money than all the Bond films combined. It isn't even close.

Batman could have had a shot, but Batman & Robin completely killed its market.

Star Wars rules the universe.

And regarding James Bond, I'm a big fan as well and I looked it up, and while all of Pierce Bronsnan's films have done big business (over 100 mil) I think the Sean Connery films were more popular. If you adjust their box office makings to actual prices you'll find they made huge numbers.
