Worst color commentating by a wrestler

I was watching ECW Barely Legal on tape, and I just noticed how horrible Tommy Dreamer was on commentary during the Funk-Richards-Sandman match. First of all, Tommy spoke up about once every 5 minutes, and each time Joey Styles had to ask him something to get him to talk. Then Tommy would say something like, "Yeah, what a chairshot." And for someone who was supposed to be watching his childhood hero get torn apart by his most bitter rival (Raven), Tommy seemed pretty bored.

It's kinda like those group commentaries on DVD's. There's always that one guy who pops up every once in a while just to say 'Yeah, I liked doing that scene' or something.

Maybe he was too mad at Raven to talk

He was keeping his mind on the match...Terry was his hero and he was taking a whoopin...although it was pretty bad I agree

I can't stand D-lo on Heat...He seems to say the same couple of things every week...him and Coach just sound...white (don't get me wrong, I like white people...I am white people)

Do retired wrestlers count cause Bruno Sammartino was pretty bad with his accent, But I think the worst if it was active wrestlers would be Stevie Ray since he did actually wrestle some what full time when he was a commentator.

Dawn Marie @ Heatwave 98. I forgot she was even there, considering she said about 1 thing every 15 minutes.

I didn't really have a problem with Dreamer's commentary, he was supposed to be emotionally torn up while watching that match, it made sense that he wouldn't say much.

But the WORST color commentary I've ever heard was on a local indy TV show, where manager/wrestler Nick Nitros simply yelled "It's all about respect!" and "Blood is thicker than water!" over and over and over again.

Jackie was the worst announcer wrestler ever on HEAT

And I am starting to dislike the guys who do Velocity, all they did was shrill Brock Lesner the whole show

Seeing as how Dawn Marie didn't even come into ECW until about February 1999, she wasn't at Heat Wave 1998.

The event you are thinking of, I believe, is some PPV from 2000 (Guilty As Charged?).

Dawn Marie did commentary at Heat Wave 2000 (and was shit), and wasn't it Shane Douglas commentating at Heat Wave 98 and Francine was just with him.

Yeah but she was sort of on commentary too as she did say like three things throughout the whole show.

Yeah Shane Douglas did commentary for the Taz vs. Bam Bam Bigelow match and he was pretty bad.

I dunno, Shane Douglas did commentary on the whole show, and was alright IMO. He wasn't great but at least he pointed out some actual wrestling basics in the matches which mad e anice change from Styles and his 'Tiger Bomb.

I thought Douglas was pretty good.

The best part of Barely Legal is in the 3-way dance. Tommy says "What's going on, Joey?" in the most confused tone. It makes me laff...

I thought he was pretty good, especially in WCW, when he was injured during the Revolution angle

Tommy couldn't have been the worst because he barely said anything. The guys who suck and talk anyway are the worst.

LMAO, sorry guys. I meant Heatwave 2000.

I thought Shane Douglas actually did a pretty good job for most of the show. Explaining basic stuff. I mean, he had a convincing way to put over a rear chinlock. Most of his commentary went a long way to helping some of the matches

Dreamer became my GOD after that Commentary.

'Hey, where's Sandman goin?'

'These two men have taken the 3 way hardway dance...~toduextreme~'

A GOD I TELLS YA, A GOD!

If the Wwf was smart, they would take Dreamer and give him his own sitcom based on Who's the Boss, with Tommy as Tony. They could call it 'Who's the Hoss' and have Dreamer be Bradshaws housecleaner. Raven could be Samantha and Albert could be Jonathan and Kane could be Mona. And have dreamer say 'Aye Oh, Oh Aye'

I can't believe nobody has mentioned the *best* announcer/wrestler ever!

I can understand why Tommy Dreamer would be "emotionally torn" while watching his idol get beat up and therefore not say much, however...

1) He sounded bored as hell

2) Terry Funk wasn't really taking that much of a beating. The 3-way moved at a snail's pace and was a lot of Funk and Sandman beating on Richards.

3) He didn't get excited until Big Dick Dudley attacked him at the booth.

Oh, and here's a question for ECW fans: What the hell was Dick Dudley even doing there? Was there and angle going on between Dreamer and Dudley at the time?

You don't need a reason for a Dudley to be around (and be hostile). They just are.

And that's why you gotta chokeslam them off of balconies every once in a while to keep them in check.
