Ok Is a Top Rope Hurricanrana, when one jumps off the turnbuckles and Hurricanrana's the other guy

OR

Is it perching a guy on the turnbuckles and Hurricanrana him off?

if not what do you call them?

The latter. I believe the former would just be a leaping Hurricanrana.

The former is a hurricarana from the top, the other is a top rope hurricarana.

Just for my own personal use, when one guy ranas another guy perched on the top, I call it a frankensteiner. I don't think it makes a difference, but that's how I go about it.

No no. A Frankensteiner is when tori (the receiver, NOT the former Terri Power) runs into uke (the thrower), and uke times the backflip to grab his head. Best move ever.

EH? I didn't understand a word of that...

The Frankensteiner is a name for the finisher done by Scott Steiner back when he and Rick were still a tag team. He sat the opponent on the top and did a 'rana on them to the mat. Calling this move the frankensteiner when it isn't done by Scott Steiner is like calling the uranage the rock bottom when it's done by someone who isn't The Rock; it's simply incorrect!

Hurricana is only when a person is pinned with the move, so the 1st one Rey Misterio Jr style!!!!!

2nd one would just be a spotfest move :)

Scott Steiner didn't use to plant a person on the top rope; he whips them to the ropes and catches them on the rebound. Only later, roided and all, does he plant them to the top first.

Feh. I'll call a rock bottom a rock bottom when I see one, regardless of who performs it.

Damn, there goes any chance I have of being hip with the DVDVR crowd.

What does the term "avalanche style" mean when it comes to top rope moves? I have seen the term "avalanche stlye hurricanrana" used in match descriptions.

Is there a difference between Lyger's avalanche style brainbuster, and a top rope brainbuster?

i think i read here not too long ago, that "avalanche" something is when the move is from the top rope..........like avalanche brainbuster is the same as top rope brainbuster..........

i could be wrong i'm not sure...

Im waiting to see on NWA TNA to see someone call a Rockbottom a Uranaga or a Soviet Judo Suplex. I'll hold my breath till I turn blue.

Ah move names, so pointless to argue over...

The fact is that, when writing a review or a post or whatever, if people know what move you are talking about then it's a satisfactory name, surely.
