Guest Downhome Report post Posted July 28, 2002 I'll make this short, yet sweet... 1) Why in the hell did they do an alcholic angle with Scott Hall on screen? 2) Why did they have Brett Hart turn on The British Bulldog & Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart, instead of joining them to continue The Hart Foundation? 3) Why did they feel that a "disapearing act" and other such antics with Warrior would get over in this generation of wrestling fans? ...just some things I'm remembering as a look through my old tapes. Sincerely, ...Downhome...
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted July 28, 2002 I'll make this short, yet sweet... You better... 1) Why in the hell did they do an alcholic angle with Scott Hall on screen? Because the bookers at the time were really fucking stupid with any angle outside of Raven's Flock. 2) Why did they have Brett Hart turn on The British Bulldog & Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart, instead of joining them to continue The Hart Foundation? Why not? Why re-create something that another company made popular? 3) Why did they feel that a "disapearing act" and other such antics with Warrior would get over in this generation of wrestling fans? Because it's actually a somewhat cool idea. I know if I saw a wrestler that could appear and then disappear without a trace after attacking somebody, and they had actual talent, I'd mark-out. The only stupid thing was the cartoonish way he did it. I mean, SMOKE?! ...just some things I'm remembering as a look through my old tapes. Sincerely, ...Downhome... Okay then... Guest Downhome Report post Posted July 28, 2002 Because the bookers at the time were really fucking stupid with any angle outside of Raven's Flock Agreed. Why not? Why re-create something that another company made popular? I would have thought they would have done so, in order to benifit from them being so over in WWF at the time. Just seems odd to me that they didn't, with all but two pieces of the puzzel being in place, pieces I'm sure they could have found someone else to fill. Because it's actually a somewhat cool idea. I know if I saw a wrestler that could appear and then disappear without a trace after attacking somebody, and they had actual talent, I'd mark-out. The only stupid thing was the cartoonish way he did it. I mean, SMOKE?! I can see how you think it's a cool idea, but it was done horribly, and isn't something that era of fans wanted to see, nor would take serious. I can totally understand why the fans didn't take Warrior serious, because I was there live for a few of The Warrior's "tricks". Let me tell you... ...that smoke, it did nothing. It may have "blinded" those at home, but not in person. I remember one time, specificly, where he knocked The Diciple out cold, and he stood in the ring and did a promo while he laid there. Then, the smoke came up, and through the smoke, Warrior doesn't drag Booty Man through the ring, no. He stood up, in plain view, walked on his own through the trap door, and Warrior followed. I don't know, but if they are going to pull something like that, at LEAST make it as believable as possible, ya know?
Guest the 1inch punch Report post Posted July 28, 2002 Because the bookers at the time were really fucking stupid with any angle outside of Raven's Flock. Sad to think that fucking KIDMAN came out with the most success Actually, the time period your taling about is late 98, when they did kill the Flock
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted July 28, 2002 Trust me, I know that was when The Flock was breaking up. And the sad part is that it was the best performed angle on WCW TV at the time. That might not be saying much, but I was still a mark until about July 1999, and The Flock was the only thing I cared about in WCW at the time outside of the LWO and the Cruiserweights. Guest the 1inch punch Report post Posted July 29, 2002 I dont suppose you remember the little angle before the match at Fall Brawl Corey?, the one where Saturn lost to Lodi or something at became his slave until Fall Brawl, it was the angle that introduced the world to Lodi's really good mic skills, plus really funny shit like Lodi telling Saturn to stand somewhere, and Kanyon would come along and bash him over the head with a chair Now that was cool

They said he did it so Warrior "wouldn't be able to disappear!" How lame is that? That's like blatantly admitting that it's just a 3rd-grade magic show sight gag, as opposed to Warrior actually having supernatural powers.

The "spernatural powers" crap was horrible anyhow, especially for 1998. I mean, seriously... ...are we to believe that The Warrior somehow learned powers while he had been away from wrestling? Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't remember any crap like that when he was in WWF, so why did they try to pull that crap across in WCW?
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted July 29, 2002 Yes, 1inch, I remember that. It lead to the best match on the Fall Brawl '98 card (although that's not saying much, really). DVD THROUGH A TABLE WITH THE TABLE SET UP SABU-STYLE~!~

Actually, it did fit into the storylines...Remember how Papa Shango had cast some kind of spell on Warrior? Well, you could say that the spell had something to do with Warrior gaining some kind of powers.
Guest Whatmaniac Report post Posted July 30, 2002 I'll make this short, yet sweet... 1) Why in the hell did they do an alcholic angle with Scott Hall on screen? I think it was because Scott Hall was really struggling with his alcoholism at that point, showing up for work drunk alot. The angle was designed to cover up the real life problems that were going on. 2) Why did they have Brett Hart turn on The British Bulldog & Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart, instead of joining them to continue The Hart Foundation? Because WCW often signed talent for the sole reason of keeping them out the WWF's hands. Coming up with something for them to do would have made too much sense. 3) Why did they feel that a "disapearing act" and other such antics with Warrior would get over in this generation of wrestling fans? Because Eric Bischoff is an utter moron for letting Warrior book his own angles. just some things I'm remembering as a look through my old tapes. If you have any other questions, let us know.
