The most fast-forwarded wrestler...

Recommended Posts

Guest KanadianKrusty

Mine is Koji Kitao, I only a couple of complete matches of him and the rest is highlights (NJ Super Visual Dome Tour) but DAMN does he suck... at least in 1990 he could walk and stuff but a couple of years later when he had that karate outfit the guy had trouble standing up...

So, who is the most fast-forwarded wrestler in the history of YOUR vcr?

Tiger Jeet Singh

I've never seen anything from this guy, not even a clip. I'm thinking to order a tape of him just to see if he truly sucks as bad as I hear from everyone.

After a quick search, I just leared that Jeet is the father of Tiger Ali Singh, whom I HAVE seen, in the WWF of course. Now...

...when you say he sucks, did Ali's father suck so much more than his son, or are they somewhat the same? Just to give me an idea of what you mean.

Also, I thought Tiger Jeet Singh was someone around today still, but I just saw he was active way back many years ago. Does he still work today, and if so, do you mean his current work sucks, or is it just him in his entire career.

I don't FF over too much - I'm usually reviewing what I'm watching, so I keep my hands off that button. In terms of stuff I've already watched/reviewed and I'm rewatching, the list is pretty long: Mick Tierney, Kimala, Rob Van Dam, the Patriot, Saemi Numata, Akemi Torisu, Dick Vrij, Bart Vale, Los Hermanos Dinimitas (though Universo & Apolo occasionally aren't shit), Rayo de Jalisco (also known as Mayo de Nabisco for a reason), any AAA Somebody (AAA's fake versions of people e.g. Psicosis), Abdullah the Butcher, the Double Iron Sheiks, Hideki Hosaka, Arashi, Yasuda, etc etc etc. You get the point.

Jeet's still around, ancient and godawful as he is. He pops up on a lot of shows I'd never dare watch, the sleazy crud with Tarzan Goto, Great Kabuki, and the like.

I fast forward through any crap.

Crap (to me) = mega slow paced matches, with nothing but punches, etc...

I do however love Hogan, Nash, etc... So who am I to judge what is really crap? :D :D :D

Oh yeah, thanks Trivia. I never watch any of the crap like Mr. Pogo either, I just can't get into that type of thing.

Back when AJW used to have midget matches, I'd fast forward all of that crap. I wasn't particularly fond of the rookie matches either.

But midget's are sooooo funny, I laugh my ass off at them. The midget's had the most entertaining match on When Worlds Collide apart from the hair vs. mask match.

One of my mates really wants a midget of his own, who can't properly jump ropes because he is so short, is german and has a lucha mask... and has tourets (sp?) syndrome...

... I'm sorry.

Ah, yeah, forgot about the midgets. I always FF over them if it isn't Lucha.

*looks shifty* Of course not...

No, it really isn't me, but if my mate's dream came true and he got one, I would certainly play with it too.

Downhome: Tiger Jeet Singh SUCKS.

He is unbelievably bad, in my mind the single worst wrestler to have ever made money. He has NO offensive moves besides punching and choking, and those look like crap. What's worse is, he's so goddamned selfish that he usually insists on being on offense for the ENTIRE MATCH, because he's too greedy to give his opponent anything, even when he's wrestling Terry Funk or someone similar. And yeah, he's worse than Tiger Ali, and he's been around forever.

Most garbage matches, I fast forward through the "milling about" periods, and stop at the bumps.

I just want to point out, that if I FF through something, it is in order to get to the next match only. I never FF DURRING a match, in order to hurry it along. If I'm going to watch one, I need to totally "experiance" the match.

I can't stand to watch any NOAH matches with Rusher Kimura, or any NJ match with Shiro "ass attack" Koshinaka, they say "hip attack" but look at the move.

Yeah, Koshinaka isn't very good as of late.

The Giants eat my fast forward button and like it and Ka Shin can burn, burn I say. Most of the Muta/Motoh I've seen has annoyed the crap out of me, too.

Tiger Singh. I have only seen a couple of matches with Tiger that I didn't fast foreward through.

hmmm,

Muta can be really frustrating, because he uses the gimmick as an excuse to do jack shit. He is usually better when wrestling as Mutoh, but can still be really lazy.

Guess I already answered this ;) but Choshyu is king of the >> round here. I mainly avoid footage of wrestlers I know I don't enjoy watching perform but when you start collecting big batches of 1990's NJ/AJ tv you're eventually gonna hit some road blocks. Likewise Choshyu seems to be fucking everywhere on my tape collection.

Oh and Koshinaka was a heck of a worker in his day. He's only sucked for the last 3 or 4 years now, age is a bitch.

The only good Koshinaka match I've seen is from the 1/4/00 Tokyo Dome show when he fought Kojima.

All of his other matches that I have are really bad.

The six man from 11/23/92 (WAR vs HI)

Koshinaka vs Kimura (5/3/97)

The six man from Starcade '91 (but WCW clipped it up)

If someone wants to tell me some good matches to check out then go ahead, because so far I can't stand this guy.

Koshinaka had some good matches in the '96 G1 Climax against Mutoh, Chono, and Yamazaki. That makes up most of my exposure to him as a heavyweight, which I was quite fond of. His Junior work with Takada in the eighties is the best, as their feud over the IWGP title was just awesome stuff.

Tiger is very smart in a Hogan/Nash manner, when it comes to gauging the trends and knowing exactly what bandwagon to hop on at what time. He started out by beating Inoki a few times back in the 70's when Antonio never lost, and went on from there. In Japan, much like in America, being a selfish no-selling sonufabitch often results in getting over; just look at Kensuke Sasaki. Also, his rumored Yakuza connections probably don't hurt.

Not only that, but he used his hardcore antics to get over back when things like that weren't commonplace. Think New Jack in early eighties WWF. From there, he recieved the "hardcore legend" reputation and has milked it ever since. The "anything can happen" appeal has given him a niche following, which allows him to survive by popping up every once in a while on obscure indy shows.

Yeah, that's probably not a very good Koshinaka primer. Kimura stinks and besides Tenryu and Kitihara WAR had a lot of really bad workers on their side.

I'd start out with the Takada vs. Koshinaka IWGP Jr. feud that went through '86-'87. Their rivalry helped usher in a new era for the Jr. division post-Sayama/Dynamite/Cobra. Excellent matches. Koshinaka did a lot of good stuff with a young Keichi Yamada, Owen Hart and Hiro Hase in the late 80's as well in that division. By the early 90's he was working heavies, and gained a good rep as a solid charasmatic-mid carder who developed into a very smart worker. He helped carry a very good tag team with a young Takayuki Iizuka in 90/91. They had an excellent underated series of matches chasing the Hase/Sasaki team that are worth tracking down. As a singles wrestler he could carry mediocre talent to hot entertaining matches or help good-great workers like Chono/Hashimoto/Hase/Mutoh/Tenryu look like a million bucks. Just a great utility guy with a lot of charisma who knew how to play his roles well. Shined in the G1 tournaments more often then not.

His most notable carry job is probably during the HI vs. Invading Karate Guys (forget the stable name) Dojo Sign feud in '92. You had slugs like Aki Saito and Aoyagi who couldn't work a lick but had mega-heat with the crowd and Koshinaka reigning them in to 3 1/2-4 star matches. Koshinaka was at his babyface best in that feud.

By '98 he seemed to start to slow down, but had one last hot run tagging with his old rival Tenryu. They pretty much carried the tag division that year. The matches vs. the Chono/Tenzan team are quite good.

Thanks for the advice, I'll be sure to check some of that out.

Also of note due to sucking would be Tadao Yasuda, Yoshinari Ogawa, and Sampson/Hiromichi/Kodo Fuyuki

Why has no one mentioned my mortal enemy in puro, Yutaka Yoshie?

I try not to fast forward when watching wrestling, but Yoshie sure as hell tests me.
