Guest shlidgn90 Posted July 29, 2002 Report Posted July 29, 2002 i just read both death stories for the first time in two years. considering that they are two of favorite comics miniseries ever, i just wanted some of your veiws on them.
Guest areacode212 Posted July 29, 2002 Report Posted July 29, 2002 Man, I haven't read either of them in a long time, so I can't really give my opinions on them. I remember loving the first one and being disappointed with the second. Maybe soon (after this move), I'll dig up my Gaiman stuff and re-read them all.
Guest starvenger Posted July 29, 2002 Report Posted July 29, 2002 Off the top of my head... The first one was kinda fun. The second wasn't too bad, but didn't seem to have the same oomph to it. It may have been Bachalo's artwork, since I thought it got better towards the end with Buckingham doing the pencils. I guess I'll have to read the stuff again...
Guest J*ingus Posted July 29, 2002 Report Posted July 29, 2002 Personally, I think that Sandman broke Gaiman, as everything he did after that was mostly of the good-but-not-great variety. As for the Death comics, the single thing I remember most was the intro that Tori Amos wrote for one of them. Talk about frightening, someone get that woman some lithium, stat!
Guest Cerebus The Aardvark Posted July 31, 2002 Report Posted July 31, 2002 Personally, I think that Sandman broke Gaiman, as everything he did after that was mostly of the good-but-not-great variety. Well, IIRC, the first Death mini came out before Sandman was done. Just saying.
Guest Steviekick Posted August 1, 2002 Report Posted August 1, 2002 the first death mini series is 8x better than the second.
Guest areacode212 Posted August 4, 2002 Report Posted August 4, 2002 BTW, Death has appeared recently in Lucifer and the DC 9-11 special, in case you want to see more of her.
Guest Vyce Posted August 4, 2002 Report Posted August 4, 2002 Personally, I think that Sandman broke Gaiman, as everything he did after that was mostly of the good-but-not-great variety. I don't believe that to be true. However, Sandman is such a pinnacle of his career, it's probably what he will always be remembered for. And it was so damn good, it will be the crucible through which all of his other work is judged.
