Guest Sebastian_the_Bastard Report post Posted July 29, 2002 My opinion... he was good for what he was worth. He would always let the blue liners slide by, but the up close "harder" shots he would stop. Always thought that was odd...
Guest starvenger Report post Posted July 29, 2002 He's a very good, but not great goalie. Got a raw deal from the Detroit media.
Guest Grenouille Report post Posted July 29, 2002 As an Avalanche fan I never liked Osgood that much, but I'll admit he is a solid goalie that can come up big. In 98 the Wings may have had lots of talent, but Osgood kept his side of things just fine. I think that the Wings probably could have won the Cup this year with Osgood, but they chose to go with quick fix with Hasek. Overall Osgood was treated like shit after the collapse against L.A. by everyone, I hope that if the circumstances were there he could win one with the Isles and stick up Detroit's ass. Guest RobJohnstone Report post Posted July 30, 2002 as an islander fan it's great to finally have a good goalie in the net. He is a cup winner, it's nice to have the experience --Rob
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted July 30, 2002 As a Wing's fan it bums me not to see Ozzy in the net...very underrated goalie and I hope he does well in NY
Guest Slingshot Suplex Report post Posted July 30, 2002 Ozzie is a solid ,if unspectacular, goalie. As starvenger said, the Detroit media and fans could be kinda brutal on him. Some of it may have been deserved...most of it not.Their two playoff series losses the 2 previous years were more a problem with the team in front of him than him,but he still took more of the blame than he should have. I hope he leads the Islanders back to serious contention soon so he can prove that he's a legitimately good goalie...not a guy who just happened to play on a good team. Guest hockeytown9321 Report post Posted July 30, 2002 I always liked him. Not spectacular, and he can't win a series for you, but he won't lose one either. Everyone in Detroit always focused on the long goals he allowed, and never the great saves he made to make up for it. He was Detroit's best player in the 2000 and 2001 playoffs, and he was hurt in 99, so you can't blame him for Detroit's losses those years.
