ROYAL RUMBLE 1990

The Hart Foundation beat Jacques & Raymond Rougeau in 14:36 to earn a tag team title shot at Wrestlemania. The Foundation beat The Powers of Pain, and then The Rougeaus beat Demolition several weeks before this. Therefore the Harts and Rougeaus were put into this match to determine a #1 contender. Good match here with the Rougeaus dominating Bret before he gets the hot tag to Neidhart. The Anvil cleans house. Jimmy Hart tries to throw the megaphone in to Jacques, but he overthrows it and Bret catches it. He lays out Jacques while the ref is distracted. He clotheslines Raymond out of the ring as Neidhart pins Jacques to earn the title shot.

Brutus Beefcake beat The Genius with a sleeperhold in 8:54. Genius used some high-flying moves, including a moonsault press. But it wasn’t enough to overcome Beefcake. The match itself was nothing special. The Barber cuts his opponent’s hair after the match to the crowd’s delight, but was then attacked brutally with a chair by Curt Hennig, setting up their Wrestlemania match.

Tag Team Champions Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard beat The Rockers in 18:46. The classic you would expect from these two teams. In my world, the Brainbusters would have stayed. Michaels plays Ricky Morton for the entire match. So many near falls for the Rockers have the crowd going NUTS. They dump Tully out of the ring, and put down Arn with a double superkick. They go up for the double fistdrop, but Bobby Heenan pushes Jannetty off the top to the floor. Michaels connects with the fistdrop, but the ref is preoccupied asking Heenan about pushing Jannetty. Blanchard comes back in and nails Michaels in the face with the tag title belt. He puts Anderson on top for the win, barely retaining their titles.

Rick Rude beat Intercontinental Champion The Ultimate Warrior in 15:10 of a cage match to win the title. This was a brutal match, and both men had to enter the Royal Rumble match later in the evening. Roddy Piper and Bobby Heenan were handcuffed together at ringside. This is the chain link cage, not the stupid looking blue one. Pinfalls and submissions are the only way to win. By the end, Warrior’s face paint had worn off and both men were wearing the crimson mask. Bad News Brown arrived at ringside and distracted Piper, as Heenan slipped a pair of brass knuckles through the cage to Rude. Warrior set Rude up and went for the flying shoulder tackle, but Rude punched him right in between the eyes with the brass knucks on his hand. He finishes with the Rude Awakening and the crowd is PISSED.

The Ultimate Warrior won the Royal Rumble match in 68:46, last eliminating Curt Hennig. The last 8 men left were Rick Rude, Andre the Giant, Curt Hennig, Hulk Hogan, The Ultimate Warrior, Bret Hart, Jake

Roberts, and Arn Anderson. The heels and faces paired off here. Order of elimination: Anderson (by Hart), Jake (by Rude), Hart (by Hennig), Andre (by Hogan and Warrior), Rude (by Warrior), Hogan (by Hennig), and Hennig (by Warrior). Warrior lost the IC title, but won a spot in the Wrestlemania main event by winning the Royal Rumble. This was a great, great Rumble match with tons of drama.

WRESTLEMANIA VI

Demolition beat Andre the Giant & Haku in 7:15. This is the same match as their original WMVI contest, only a bit shorter without the tag titles involved. Andre still turns back face after the match. The crowd pops huge for the Demo win and Andre’s turn.

Rick Martel pinned Tito Santana in 13:22. A year after the Strike Force breakup, they finally have the huge blowoff. Martel has ditched the “Model” gimmick, but still acts like a really cocky heel. This is a good match with the crowd being hot for all of Santana’s offense, loving it that he’s finally getting his revenge. He hits the flying forearm, but Martel sails out of the ring, preventing a pinfall. Santana locks Martel in a figure four, but Martel makes the ropes. Santana goes for it again, but Martel grabs the tights and cradles him for the win.

Earthquake pinned Hercules in 3:38. This is the same as their original WMVI match, with Quake just getting the squash win over a strong face to build him up. He hits two more BUTT splashes after the match and Hercules does the stretcher job to enforce the point.

The Orient Express beat The Rockers in 16:30. I have the Orients as Pat Tanaka and Paul Diamond under a mask as “Kato”. Screw the era with Aldo Sato. A great fast paced match. The crowd, as always, is super hot for the Rockers. In the end, Mr. Fuji throws salt in the eyes of Shawn Michaels so he wanders around the outside of the ring, supposedly blinded. Jannetty is left alone with both Orients and they finish him with a rocket launcher.

Jake Roberts pinned Intercontinental Champion Rick Rude in 15:46 to win the title. They play up the past between these two really well, and Rude brings back the comments about Roberts’ wife. The fans are just waiting for Rude to get his, and he does. It seems as if Rude has things going his way, and he goes for the Rude Awakening. Roberts counters with a low blow and a short arm clothesline. That is the set up for the DDT, and the fans know it. The crowd is rabid as he hits the DDT and FINALLY wins his first WWF title. The ref hands Roberts the title belt, and Bobby Heenan runs in the ring and steals it from him. He tries to run away but Roberts catches him and DDT’s him on the belt. He lets Damien crawl all over Rude and Heenan as he celebrates with the belt.

Ted DiBiase pinned Dusty Rhodes in 7:16. This is the common man vs. rich man angle. The match isn’t very special at all. The ending comes when Rhodes is going to hit DiBiase with the million dollar belt. But, Virgil takes it away. Rhodes turns around to grab Virgil, but catches a knee to the back from DiBiase. Ted rolls him up and puts his own feet on the ropes to get the cheap win. Just like at WMVI, he hides under the ring and waits for Bossman.

The Big Bossman pinned Akeem in 1:48. DiBiase attacks Bossman before the match, but Bossman makes a quick comeback and hits the Bossman Slam for the win over his former Twin Towers partner. This was a nothing match, merely a formality to get Bossman over as a face. It worked.

Randy Savage pinned Hacksaw Duggan in 7:13. There’s nothing special here, once again. Duggan wants his crown back, and gets it if he wins here. But Savage dodges the three point stance clothesline, and Duggan goes chest first into the dreaded exposed turnbuckle. Savage wins right after this with a bodyslam and the flying elbow.

The Hart Foundation beat Tag Team Champions Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard in 22:34 of a 2/3 falls match to win the titles. The Brainbusters took the first fall at 6:46 with a spike piledriver on Bret. Bobby Heenan is caught interfering at 13:39 to give the Harts a fall by DQ. Anderson is pinned with the Hart Attack to give the Hart Foundation the titles at 22:34. Monster pop. Classic match here, as expected. Heenan is having a horrible night, as his men are 0 for 3 in their matches, he’s lost both titles his stable held, and Andre turned on him. Gorilla Monsoon makes fun of Heenan in the announce booth.

Roddy Piper wrestled Bad News Brown to a double count-out in 4:38. This is the same deal as the original match, only a bit shorter. The ref counts both men out after nothing but punching, kicking, choking, and brawling. Crowd was hot for it, but the match was a DUD.

The Barbarian pinned Jimmy Snuka in 4:17. This was just to try to get Barbarian over as a singles wrestler. He dominates, but Snuka makes the comeback. The Superfly Splash misses, but the top rope clothesline doesn’t. Heenan celebrates as one of his men finally won a match tonight.

Brutus Beefcake pinned Curt Hennig in 12:47. I never thought this match got enough time originally, so I gave them 5 more minutes to work with. I always liked the slingshot into the scroll finish, so I’ll leave it here. Good match.

The Ultimate Warrior pinned World Champion Hulk Hogan in 22:51 to win the title. This is the same exact thing that happened originally, down to the second. The historic ***1/2-**** effort they put on in 1990 was the best we could have expected from these two.

Let me know what you think... if I have positive feedback I'll continue with the 1990 KOTR, Summerslam, and the Survivor Series.

except Rick Martel Faced Koko B Ware at WM VI

That's why it's called FANTASY booking. I chose to have the Strike Force blowoff instead of Martel vs. Ware or Barbarian vs. Tito because those matches sucked originally.

KING OF THE RING 1990

The story of this pay per view is an 8 man tournament, with the winner receiving an Intercontinental title shot at Summerslam ’90. Now, for the first round of the tournament:

Curt Hennig pinned Shawn Michaels in 11:26 to advance to the semifinals. Marty Jannetty is on the outside to prevent Hennig’s new manager, Bobby Heenan, from interfering. This is an amazing match as you would expect, with Hennig using the Perfect-Plex for the win to advance.

Tito Santana pinned Rick Martel in 10:45 to advance to the semifinals. Tito gets his revenge here from his Wrestlemania loss. This is another solid match, just like at Mania. The finish comes when Martel goes for a superplex, but Santana shifts his weight and lands on top for the pin to advance.

Randy Savage pinned Bret Hart in 14:34 to advance to the semifinals. Hart is one half of the tag team champions at this time. As in the Hennig/Michaels match, Hart has his partner Jim Neidhart at ringside to prevent Sensational Sherri from interfering. This match is a classic, and beats out Hennig/Michaels for match of the night. The crowd is SO hot for Bret, as he gets several near falls towards the end. However, Savage pushes Hart off the top rope to the mat during a Hart superplex attempt, and hits the flying elbow to advance to the semifinals.

Brutus Beefcake pinned Arn Anderson in 9:20 to advance to the semifinals. This match is probably the worst of the quarterfinal round, but not bad. The finish comes when Beefcake goes to attack Bobby Heenan on the apron, but Anderson comes from behind with a knee to the back. He follows with a belly to back suplex with a bridge, but Beefcake gets his shoulder up at the last second, and Anderson’s are pinned down. Heenan protests and gets put to sleep. His hair is almost cut, but Anderson saves him.

Curt Hennig pinned Tito Santana in 9:46. This is yet another solid match. The fans REALLY want Tito to win here. He gets his ass kicked for the majority of the match, but makes the comeback. He hits the flying forearm, but Bobby Heenan distracts him and Hennig uses the Perfect-Plex to advance to the finals.

Brutus Beefcake pinned Randy Savage in 8:35. I guess this could be considered an upset win for the Barber. This is an okay match, but nothing more than you would expect from these two. Heel miscommunication with Savage and Sherri leads to a quick schoolboy for the win for Beefcake.

Curt Hennig pinned Brutus Beefcake in 7:28. Hennig attacks Brutus immediately after he finishes his match with Savage, and the Barber never recovers. He makes the comeback, but Hennig makes it to the ropes while in the sleeperhold. Brutus misses a blind charge into the corner and goes shoulder-first into the ring post. The Perfect-Plex finishes and Hennig has a shot at Jake Roberts’ IC strap at Summerslam.

The Legion of Doom beat The Bolsheviks in 1:10. This was the LOD’s debut, and the crowd is going crazy. They dominate the heels and hit the Doomsday Device on Boris for the win. Demolition comes out and stares down LOD. No fighting occurs, and referees hit the ring to break them up before a brawl starts.

World Champion The Ultimate Warrior pinned Ted DiBiase in 11:45. Nothing you wouldn’t expect here. The Warrior breaks the Million Dollar Dream, and finishes with the usual. He poses afterwards with the World title belt and the Million Dollar belt. Virgil sneaks in and steals back the Million Dollar belt. He throws it to DiBiase before getting his ass kicked by Warrior.

Hulk Hogan & Andre the Giant beat The Barbarian & Haku in 9:13. This is Andre’s retirement match. The match itself sucks, but Hogan & Andre teaming together again is classic. Hogan plays Ricky Morton, but gets the hot tag to Andre who cleans house. Hogan comes back. He gets the big boot and legdrop on Haku, but lets Andre finish Haku with a BUTT splash for the win. Earthquake tries to get to the ring to attack Hogan after the match, but is held back by Greg Valentine, Dino Bravo, and Jimmy Hart. Hogan and Andre pose and hug as the show goes off the air.

Let me know if there is any demand for Summerslam :)

Good Thing This is Fantasy, cause some thinks just aint right. Brain Busters still around?I thought they were sacked about 8-9 weeks before RR. And Andre wrestling after WM just don't mix.IF And when you do SSeries, don't put too many non elimanation matches, otherwise it breaks away from the concept of the show "SURVIVOR series".

First off, Andre DID wrestle after WMVI if my memory serves me... just a few small appearances in Japan. He was not in the ring at all until the end of the tag match at KOTR, and it was just to have him and Hogan team in his last match. Brainbusters were gone a few months before the Rumble, but they were one of the best teams ever and I decided to have them stay throughout '90. So yes, it is good that it is FANTASY booking.

The Untelevised KOTR's didnt occur in 1990 or 1992. But its Fantasy, so I guess it doesnt matter.

Give him a break. Come on. It's great fantasy booking. The Brainbusters thing was unneccessary but everything else could've happened. Why do you read in the fantasy booking forum if you want recaps of what really happened, axel smash?

Your Olympic Hero: The good thing about this is that you don't write 200 words about each match. Play by play in fantasy booking is boring. Tell us the matches and the plots and keep up the good work. We have yet to see someone cover a longer period but I hope you will.

If I wanted to drain all factual occurences in booking I'd have Ric Flair vs. Giant Baba vs. Jushin Liger as a main event at WWF Wrestlemania CDII. ok thats a little exagerated. lol.

I know but there has to be SOME truth to it. The fact that the rosters were the same and stuff. Oh great, I've been backed in the corner on this. (throws in a white flag)
