Guest brokentusk16 Report post Posted February 21, 2002 Assuming that the heads of both companies could come to an agreement and were able to merge the two promotions, would it work? Think about it, they'd have talent from both companies. Talent including: Jeff Jarrett Vampiro Rey Mysterio Jr. Konnan Eddy Guerrero Disco Inferno Juvi Psychosis Crowbar Norman Smiley Big Vito The Wall Simon Diamond Dawn Marie Roddy Piper The Demon Kid Kash Josh Matthews (from Tough Enough) Road Dogg Brian Christopher Nova If they could snag a timeslot with Turner (just an hour would do), then do about 3 PPV's a year, I think it could be done. We'd actually have a WWF alternative that would be entertaining to watch. What are your opinions?
Guest gangsteruwa Report post Posted February 21, 2002 I'd like to see that. In time that may happen. All the people that you named in that list are people that I have missed seeing wrestle. As long as they made the WRESTLING the show case and not acting I would definately mark out for the WWA/XWF. The only problem I have is I don't want to see Bagwell. I really hate him and I don't see how he can get any fans. Other than that they would have a pretty strong card. Oh yeah I don't want to see old people, that can't keep up, wrestling either. If I wanted to I'd buy the Legends of Wrestling tape. Keep the talent fresh. If Turner was smart he'd go for it. mmmm Dawn Marie.
Guest Stupendous Man Report post Posted February 21, 2002 That would probably be a best case sceanario for the US National Wrestling landscape. Sure, we'd have to deal with Road Dogg, Bagwell, and Konnan, but in return we get Double J, Crowbar, and Nova, who, as everyone knows, invented wrestling. And what's wrestling if the inventor isn't on a national stage?
Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted February 22, 2002 I like that idea. That talent roster is good enough to get me watching and it could be the only chance for awhile of their being a number two wrestling company in North America.
Guest suburbankid Report post Posted February 22, 2002 Not to rain on your parade but why merge the two when you know their is some other money man who could come along and pick up the best of both crews. The merging of these companies would be the same if the current American Wresting Association company were to merge with NWA as a whole. Realisticly how many hardcore fans even know that the brand name AWA is still around. I dont think their is any loyalty or faith in the guys in either company. I mean we have seen guys quickly pack their bags and head to vince in heartbeat. Secondly you are discussing merging essentially two paper companies. Neither group has even managed to convince their wrestlers they are legit. Which is demonstrated in their quitting to join vince and the fact most of their guys are working spots for other small promoters. Furthermore Promoting overseas tours does not make you a credible company in my eyes or most wrestlers. Promoting succesfully overseas with exmainstream stars used to be very common, i.e. the NWL that promoted shows on military bases in the early 1990s to shows in India or even spot European shows booked by Carmen Despirito. The XWF and the WWA are really just barnstorming indy tours comparable to the nostalgia acts you see hit the county fairs in the summer. Neither company has been able to convince the real power brokers in wrestling, TV execs. Finally the thing that must be needed to break through is the ability the WWF has to mainstream their crew. You can put down the WWF but they have the ability to put out a product that appears current as opposed to what the either company has to offer. As I stated earlier the XWF and WWA come across as nostaglia acts in Piper, almost weres in K-Dogg and never will be's in The Wall. Not to detract from any of the guys who are fine for spot shows but will Joe Sixpack plunk down 25-50 dollars to watch them, the answer has been no and examples would be the XFL for the almost weres and never willbes and the Senoir Professional Baseball League which was made up of retired major leaguers. Guest Risk Report post Posted February 22, 2002 Jeff Jarrett Vampiro Rey Mysterio Jr. Eddy Guerrero Juvi Psychosis Crowbar Big Vito The Wall Simon Diamond Dawn Marie Roddy Piper-NO WRESTLING! Kid Kash Josh Matthews (from Tough Enough) Road Dogg Brian Lawler Nova Only hire those, then recruit indy stars. Turner could back at Vince so that McMahon would have to split up the WWF. It might even bring back WCW.
