Worst of Coliseum Home Video

Recommended Posts

Guest HartFan86

We've done the best, how about the worse?

Luger/Tatanka on Wham Bam Bodyslam. One of the worst mathces I have ever seen.

I'll edit more...but I was just watching Luger/Tatanka and it's so fucking boring. STALLLLLLLL, stupid finish...STALLLL. Ugh.

That must be from that shitty World Tour '92 tape, eh? Really dull/bad matches didn't start popping up on CV releases until they started putting out tapes that consisted of nothing but dark matches. When they're dark matches, you can't really expect too much in any case, hell even good wrestlers put on some terrible dark matches. Of the top of my head, some of the worst CV matches I've seen are:

Warlord v. Jim Neidhart (World Tour '91)

Bushwhackers vs. Powers of Pain (Supertape)

Texas Tornado v. Mountie (World Tour '92)

Tito Santana vs. Rick Rude (Supertape; this was mainly cause it was soooo long, dull, and really a disapointment, considering how good it could have been)

Any Lex Luger v. Tatanka match (There were tons of them on CV)

The worst Coliseum Video I have seen would be Bashed In the USA. 2 hours of pure hell. The top match was **1/4 Bret Hart-Rick Martel. NEVER BUY THAT TAPE!!!

Anything that features Bobby Heenan on commentary for 2 hours can never be referred to as pure hell. The matches are god-awful yes, but Heenan helps it a bit with his commentary. For some reason, I kind of like the 40 man battle royal on there, but that's probably cause I'm a battle royal mark. If you're going to list CV's that just flat out sucked, here's a few of the top ones:

- George The Animal Steele

- Best of the WWF Volume 8

- Best of the WWF Volume 12

- Best of the WWF Volume 14

- Best of the WWF Volume 16

- Best of the WWF Volume 18

- Supertape

- World Tour

- World Tour '91

- World Tour '92

- 2nd Annual Battle of the Superstars

- Mega Matches

- Hottest Matches

- Bashed in the USA (Heenan is God, but he still can't save the tape)

- Jake the Snake (This tape has some good stuff, but considering some of the cool stuff they could have shown, this tape is a total letdown, since it's filled with his matches against fat men)

- Hulkamania Forever

- WWF Fan Favorites (89)

- Undertaker His Gravest Matches

There's plenty more, but I'm not too proud to say that despite how much the aforementioned tapes suck, I own them all.

Fan Favorites-89-isn't that bad. There are 3 watchable matches out of 6 on that tape. Both Santana-Perfect and Rooster-Brawler are decent and the Harts carry the Towers to a watchable match. THe others suck and do not need to be mentioned.

Best of the WWF vol 16 is worse then horrible. Its insulting. When I got it for the 1st time, I see that back and its got Duggan-Andre, Race-JYD, and its has Outback Jack and Frenchy Martin commentating. I think "Ok, maybe they don't tell about some of the good matches". But when I put on the tape, Jack and Frency are your HOSTSw/ Mean Gene. That means you have to sit through the whole tape with them, not one match. When you add to that the Masked Giantmatch, mean Gene walking around China, and the Bees-Barry O & Sharpe match in a tropical rainstorm, you will go crazy. I had to sit through that. I will never watch that tape again unless I review it or want to bore myself. I will not be reviewing this tape, hopefully

Yeah, it's not that bad, it's just pretty weak considering how good the tapes were that they were putting out at the time. Rooster v. Brawler really borders on being bad, so I don't really count it. The other matches are the ones that make the tape such a drag to watch, I guess.

Right you are. I think that Best of the WWF Volume 16 is sooo bad that it's almost funny. I remember never picking it up in the tape store cause it didn't really look like a wrestling video, but one day I finally realized it was and considering I hadn't seen it, I decided to rent it. Mistake that was.

For one, the matches totally blow ass except for the Rougeaus v. Dream Team. Then you have Frenchy Martin as a co-host, and lord is he annoying. Then, you have some terrible features with Gene on the streets of Japan. To top it all off, you have all of the matches in various foreign languages! Not fun, considering that in most cases of a bad match, some good commentary can save it. I believe that one match takes place in London, so you can understand that, but the rest will have your head hurting unless you speak about 10 different languages. The Bees v. Barry O and Sharpe is just funny to watch, as they try to piece together a watchable match (not easy even under normal conditions) in a huge downpour. BTW, anyone know what that's from? Was that a tour or something, cause I think I remember them touring around there in '86. Anyway, a terrible tape that should be seen just so you can realize just how bad some tapes can be.

Hercules VS Akeem. I think it was on Supertape 2.

Terrible, yes, but it was also short (at about 4:00), so I really don't consider it to be too bad. You can see it here in the rant I did on the tape a while back:

Supertape 2 Rant

Pimping your own work never gets old (well for my stuff at least).

How can you pick just one "worst match"? There were just SO MANY of them.

All that "Archived" footage and midget crap on Best of WWF Volume 2 really pissed me off! Enough is enough!

Also I forgot to mention Demolition vs. Orient Express from Supertape 2.This match doesn't look so bad on paper but it ends up being a whole pile of nothing.

Also Mega Matches is pretty bad. The whole Hillybilly Jim at home segment is enough to kill you but to top it off they give a Duggan vs. Slaughter match.

A few days ago, I finished watching Best of the WWF vol 4. Its a pretty good tape but the Killer Khan vs. Andre in a Stretcher Match is pretty bad. It's not that long though.

That bump Bundy took in the Collosal Jostile was pretty rough. Andre gave him a headbutt or a chop and Bundy ended up going through the ropes and smacking his back pretty hard on the concrete floor of MSG. That was an immediate rewind, play, rewind, play moment for me.

That whole tape was pretty weak, except for the hot MSG match with Piper against Orndorff from some time after Wrestlemania. Crap fills the rest of the tape. The strecher match ain't so bad, but it's more or less the same thing for several minutes (Andre doing the BUTT splash on Khan).

I can't believe no one mentioned this tape. Best of the WWF vol 16 is tape of the year compared to Country Boys. That tape is disgusting. I can't believe I even sat through that shit. WTF was Vince thinking when he made a tape like this. To have Hillybilly Jim, Uncle Elmer, and Cousin Junior in matches for a whole video is beyond belief. The whole Bundy-Elmer match is terrible but short. Every cousin Junior match is bad. This whole tape is insulting to wrestling.

I remember a match between the Buschwhackers and Rhythm & Blues being one of the worst I've ever seen. Also, Neidhart vs. Warlord was just pitiful. What were they thinking with that Neidhart singles push?

Whatever you do, never watch Wrestlings Country Boys. Good god that whole tape is god awful. Not a single match on there is good. A whole tape of crap from Hillbilly Jim, Uncle Elmer, and Cousin Junior. Thank god I only payed 2 bucks for that or I would have been royally pissed.

The tape's ONLY SEMI-highlight of the tape was Rene Goulet getting in Mr. T's face. Even the poor Frenchman gets his "brush with greatness"

Bloopers, Bleeps, and Bodyslams (1994). If you rate it by play by play its the best tape you'll ever see thanks to Johnny Polo. The matches are total shit for the most part.

Does anyone notice that during the early-mid 90's when CV would do tapes about one wrestler, they'd show a feud history, but then never show the blowoff if he lost. The Razor Ramon tape showed his whole history with HBK, but stopped at the RAW before he lost the IC title and didn't show the match itself, just the angle that set it up.
