Favorite Coliseum Home Video Commercial Tape?

Recommended Posts

Guest HartFan86

...but I'm just curious in what's your personal favorite. I kinda like Supertape 2 for some reason...and I don't own/see THAT many, so I really can't make a good judgment.

I own both as well. Both are good tapes. I think Kid should of won the battle royal at the end of Wham Bam and the main event for InVasion 92 was just....eh.

As far as entertainment goes I'd pick the TNT video. Just a bunch of crap thrown together that isn't all that bad.

As far as wrestling I'd also vote for Slamfest.

WWF Monday Night Raw Prime Cuts

Jannetty/HBK, Steiners/Quebecers, Perfect/Doink, Yokozuna/Crush, a Good 20 Man Battle Royal, Ramon/Martel, Kid/Ramon

Plus the Savage/Crush summit, Raw moments including Doink dumpingwater on Heenan and the macho midget arriving, and IRS/Walker (nothing match)

Best of WWF Vol 11, Piper/Steamboat/JYD vs Savage/Race/Adonis. Slick is on color and goes off on a hilarious tangent about how "that Junkyard Dog can't read or write". ALSO: Hogan/Piper as a team, Tuxedo match, farewell tribute to Piper.

I second Prime Cuts. Best of the WWF Vol. 1 & 6 are also good.

Yeah, those were all good.

I'm partial to the Terry Funk vs. Lanny Poffo match. It was kind of sad to see Funk hook in the sleeper, the packed MSG crowd get TOTALLY behind Poffo, have poffo attept to fight out, only to have that damed Funk hook his tights and get a submission victory. Oh, that killed the crowd! But the match rocked the house! And I alwats loved how Monsoon would sort of frown upon Poffo's acrobats since it was all "a waste of energy".

I'd like to nominate Rowdy Roddy Piper's Greatest Hits for favorite CV. ***** for entertainment value indeed. Man, Piper was awesome!!! His Pit w/ Frank Williams was hysterical.

"Where are you from?"

"Columbus, OH"

"I wrestled there many times, never lost in Columbus. What about you? You ever lose a match?"

"Yeah"

"Oh, cause if I EVER lost a match it'd take all the fire, steam, adrenaline away and I'd probably have to retire!!!"

Not word-for-word, but you get the drift.

Best of the WWF 11 is one of the best editions from that serious. The 6-man tag is a classic in my eyes, and it's so cool that there it was in January and they had three Wrestlemania matches put into one match right there. Just shows how far ahead they booked most things. Slick is great on color, and it makes me wonder why he didn't do it more often.

The opening tag team match between the Can-Am Connection and The Dream Team is also real good, and I've always like the ending of that one. The Tuxedo stuff is entertaining crap to say the least, and you get Heenan and Monsoon on commentary. The tribute to Piper is also real good, and is pretty lengthy too. And on top of that, you get George Steele v. Kamala in the Battle of the Jungle! What an awful match, but what a great tape.

Another Good Tape is Canadian Fan Favorites. Its really rare but it has some great matches. It has the famous Bret-Bulldog vs. Anvil-Owen. It has 123 Kid vs. Owen. It also has a decent match w/ Yoko vs. Kid. I also liek the Undertaker vs Lawler match. Its really funny to see King get destroyed by the Undertaker

I am also a big fan of High Flyers. Even though it has only 5 matches on the tape, all are very watchable and entertaining. THe 1st match is great w/ Virgil vs. Savage and Dibease antics are great. The Jumping Bomb Angels match is really good too. THe Rockers and Stallions matches are very good and are your usual house show opener. The Blazer-Koko match is also watchable but long.

High Flyers seemed to be a jobber tape. Shadows, Young Stallions, Koko B. Ware. The works.

The Jumping Bomb Angels RULE ALL~! They're the only reason I keep the High Flyers tape. RULE!!!! ALL!!!!!

Hey! I am thinkin aboot getting the Bret Hart commercial tape, from around 97/96, it looks good but I am not sure about buying it. It has a match vs. Austin on it..is that from Survivor Series?

Yeah, I mean the kayfabed kommentary by Austin wasn't great, but it really profiled the 'peak' in his character.

The best part, in my mind, is when Austin is being dragged away by police and Monsoon says "YOU'RE OUTTA CONTROL" and Austin retorts with "YOU DAMN RIGHT~!"

On the news they did a story on the Austin walk-out based on RAW magazine.

So they would post a quote by a superstar and they'd cut to footage of Austin from Cause Stone Cold Said So going-

That's a load of BS

I also like the quick shot of Brian Pillman, and having Austin quip something to the degree of,

"Tell me this guy doesn't deserve to get his ass kicked!"

Invasion 92 has two great Flair matches.

G,G-n-G has an awesome Bret/Savage v. HBK/Flair match

Another vote for Monday Night RAW: Prime Cuts, and Invasion '92 (gotta love Flair vs. Michaels).

I haven't seen these Coliseum Video tapes in 7 years. I remember cutting class in my college freshman year to rent these (along with porn). I wonder if anyone would be willing to make copies of some of them for me.

email [email protected]

he'll send you his site as he has alot of WWF, WCW and other fed tapes. He charges 5$ per 6 hour tape, which is cheap, and 5$ shipping and handling. So you can buy 4 or 5 tapes and only pay 5$ shipping and handling.
