Lemme tell ya'll... there's a secret society of the five wealthiest people in the world, known as The Pentaveret, who run everything in the world, including the newspapers, and meet triannually at a secret country mansion in Colorado, known as The Meadows.

The main problem with people conspiring to take over the world is there can only be one leader. Those with bloated egos enough to want such wouldn't share with anybody else and would take turns putting daggers into each others backs. Similar things happen to the Republicans whenever they get to much power. The purpose of power is to be able to control your own destiny. Rich people can already do that. Only a psycho sadist would want to control people for it's own sake and these types can't organize a latrine digging detail. Not to mention they have to kill anybody around them smart enough to put a dagger in their back. Leaving them with a bunch of spineless idiots to do their bidding. Nobody like that could ever gain any real power.

Two reasons:

 

1. It summed up my whole position on the subject; and

 

2. I was arguing for the non-existence of something which the author insisted was so. The burden of proof for or against a giant worldwide conspiracy controlled by fourth-dimensional aliens is on the person proposing the theory, not anyone who wishes to disbelieve said theory.

Sure. World War I was kicked off by the assassination of the Austrian archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife by a Serbian nationalist in Sarejavo in 1914. The archduke and his wife were riding in a car in a parade. This was widely regarded as a bad idea, since Austrian-Hungarian nobility were not exactly popular in that place and time. Earlier on that day, the driver of the car had already foiled an attempt to toss a bomb inside of it. Despite that incident, Ferdinand insisted on finishing the day's events instead of just going home. Later on, while slowing down to make a turn, the assassin (forgot his name) ran out with pistols in both hands, and murdered both the duke and duchess. Their murder led to the Serbs declaring war on Austria, which led to Austrian ally Germany declaring war on Serbia, which led to Serb ally Russia declaring war on Austria, which led to Germany declaring war on Russian ally France, which led to French ally Great Britian declaring war on Germany.

 

So just HOW exactly could anybody have planned all that?
