Guest starvenger Report post Posted August 5, 2002 i mentioned 4 bands...and no one really cared OK, my thoughts: Rush - actually, I'm not a big fan. I recognize them for what they've done, but their music doesn't do it for me. The Guess Who - "American Woman". I should point out that Randy Bachman begat Tal Bachman ("She's So High"), and that is unforgivable. Neil Young - "Heart Of Gold". Tea Party - Well, I've voiced my opinion on them already. >BTW Bif AWESOME sigs. Amanda is hot but god do I miss Rachel. They'll never find a VJ as hot as her ever again. Maybe they could hire Thea Andrews...
Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted August 6, 2002 As for the Guess Who in general, they're one-hit wonders, . thanks for the laugh, but Guess Who aren't one hit wonders, probably in the states, but in Canada they are probably the most influencial band that has came out of Canada at first. and no the Tea Party doesn't suck, they have probably the most talent of this generation of Canadian bands, and they are hardly mainstream at all. Jeff Burrows is one of the best drummers that I have even heard and seen, hell i rank him up to where Neal Peart and Mike Portnoy as a great drummer. Jeff Martin may sound like Jim Morrison, but he's a good guitarist. even in america, the guess who aren't one-hit wonders. they've only had one #1 single (american woman, of course) but have had close to a dozen top 40 hits inc. laughing these eyes no sugar tonight no time share the land and countless others I thought one-hit wonder referred to bands that only had one #1 hit? Anyway, sorry for not knowing any better, I'll be damned if they ever play any Guess Who songs other than "American Woman" on the radio around here, plus Guess Who is one of the few bands that neither of my parents own records for. Sorry guys, I let you down Also, as for other Canadian bands, I'll probably get laughed at again, but what about Barenaked Ladies? I always liked them and most of their songs. Guest Lord of The Curry Report post Posted August 6, 2002 The Tragically Hip- Long Time Running. The most "Canadian" song ever, can bring me to tears and evokes memories of girlfriends, beer, hockey and cottage trips. One of my favorite songs of all time. Nickelback- Old Enough. I don't really like Nickelback, but this song is cool enough. Our Lady Peace- Naveed. My #1 favorite song of all time. I can't begin to say how much that song speaks to me as a person, and the opening bass line kicks 1000 types of ass. Swollen Members- Don't have one. Bring It Home, I guess. Treble Charger- Red. Rock-ass song. Gob- Soda Sum 41- God they suck.....good god they suck.....no favorites...they suck Matthew Good Band- Prime Time Deliverance. One of the best examples of telling a story in music, the whole thing is sung like a fuckin' Tarantino movie and climaxes with a suicide.
