The RAW rating drops, just as I expected...

"The ratings for Monday night are in and Raw scored a 3.7 cable rating, with a 6.1 share, according to Nielsen Media Research. The show did hours of 3.4 and 4.0.

 

The number is down from the 4.3 that they did last week. It appears now that last week's rating spike was due more to people wanting to know what happened at the Vengeance PPV than it being the first sign in a rebirth in the audience. As you will remember, until the last few months the post PPV Raw was usually good for a half point spike in the ratings. It appears that is what drove the Raw rating up last week."

 

...now before some of you go out and say such things as WWE is shutting down, Eric Bishoff will now be fired, or other such dribble, remember that last week was after a PPV. Myself, and many of you, expected last RAW to go up a bit because of the PPV, then fall a bit this week, and THEN we will begin to see a true "rise" in viewership. There is ONE wrench in all of this however...

 

...We must look at the week BEFORE the post-PPV RAW last week, which pulled in a 3.8. Now that is a .1 drop, so that confuses me. I suppose like I said above, we must wait for the future to really say. Anyhow, I just thought you might want to know all of this!

No, obviously that isn't going to happen now, just as I said above. They can however begin to rise over time, by putting out quality show after quality show, thus MAKING it "cool" again. Give it a few more months of what we've seen the past two weeks, and they will be on the rise by the end of the year.

Once school gets bakc in session, the ratings will go back up. That's how it always was and always will be.

Well, 2.5 million WCW fans is kind of a difficult thing to lose, but even when most everybody gave up on WCW (such as in 2000), WWF still had a good thing going.

 

Watching the Best of Raw tape shocks me at how jam packed these arenas are. Even the camera can barely see for signs.

 

Although, watching the Foley "you guys chanted for Austin and not me" speech makes me realize how small these arenas actually were (nosebleed seats? There ARE NO nosebleed seats!)

Back when the WWE had great ratings, was when wrestling was the "in" thing to watch. In other words, it was a fad. During that fad, the WWE gained fans, and also lost the fans that tuned in just because it was the "in" thing to watch. I can honestly say I don't think we'll see ratings jump as high as they were back then.

Beniot was over before he got hurt so don't assume that Beniot can't get over. Eddie could also get over easily IF they stopped making him be Latino Heat. If they just let Eddy be the cocky prick that he's good at being instead of being a stereotype he'd get over.

Wrestling won't reach 8.3 ratings again. That was the absolute PEAK of wrestling's popularity. It was a fad amongst High Schoolers but now Wrestling's "GAY". It's the cycle of life. Come 2008 Wrestling will reboom for my Kid's generation.

Eddie's already pretty over and Benoit, well, has had nothing in the way of character development since he's come back except for the Austin thing (and we know how that panned out) so it's still too early to pass judgment on him.
