Woohoo, this sure is bring back great memories. I also loved the commercial which was about an anti-car-f*ck alarm. Do you remember what I'm talking about? Also, I remember a skit where Martin Short was doing something on Seseme Street, and he was drunk, and it ended in him grabbing Miss Piggy and simulating sex with her. Yes, those I remember made me laugh. One more...

...an episode where that guy from Frasier hosted. It was him, Farley, and a few other guys. They are sitting outside, acting all "oh golly gee, I best get home to work on my studies. They all begin to fall into the water, and then the Devil comes and we all learn a great leason, never promise five minutes alone with Satan in a shed, GOOD GOD! In that skit, Farley just cracked me the hell up, even now as I write this.

By the way, I wonder how one goes about getting into that business. Are there schools for it? Do you just try to start up with some local stage group, or what?

Also, as I think about this, we could basicly do an entire thread on your favorite characters by Carvey and Hartman. :D :D :D

Martin Short played Jackie Rogers, Jr. In 96-97 they reaired that clip when JRJ went on Barbera Walters.

That would be David Hyde Pierce. That skit was pretty damn funny

Most people come to SNL via the Groundlings or Second City. Amy Poehler was in UCB.

So being in Groundlings or Second City is your best shot. You don't seek them, they have to find you

Just remember two of my favorites...

...Orgasm Man was damn funny for a while, and then we have Massive Headwound Harry. That dog, that goo, equals some damn find comedy.

Yeah, yeah, I know you don't seek SNL, But how would you go about getting in one of those groups. If you don't know, no worries, I'll seek the answer elsewhere. :D :D :D

I always liked the Dark Side With Nat X and I'm Chillin. I',m not a big Chris Rock fan, but I loved those skits. My favorite commercials are the car for insane people, the dog lawyer commercial, and of course, KCF Shredders. "Get the shred in your head".

Has anyone mentioned the Land Shark yet?

Still the funniest thing ever.

Massive Headwound Harry. God damn Carvey was the man

Downhome- I believe the Groundlings, Second City and UCB all have classes to teach you improv and stuff. I would love to do something like that for a living- make people laugh

Land Shark is on my Best of 75 tape and bps- it's classic.

The Land Shark even ate Tina!~

Nat X is hilarious, I'm Chilling was alright. Chris Rock never did too much on SNL, that's a shame

But it wasn't funny...I mean at all...why was it on a comedy show?

I just don't think Fallon is funny in anything he does

Nat X was the man...I don't mark out for your average "Angry black man" skit...but the Dark side was classic

*To Latoya Jackson* "Scoot yo wishin I was Janet ass down!"

Anyone else like the Chris Walken "Continental" skits?

My favorite non-Land Shark sketch was when Walter Mondale was on SNL after losing his bid to become president.

Bill Murray took him golfing in NY...which consisted of hitting a golf ball all over the city.

Classic dialogue that went something like this:

Murray: " I hear you ran for president or something"

Mondale: "yes"

Murray: "oh" (hits his ball into the city) "D'you win?"

I really enjoy them (ummm Y-n-A- we agree on something). They're sad to watch now with Phil Hartman doing the announcing but Walken is over the top- he makes it great

Wow, thanks a lot, I'll check all of that out right now. By the way...

...I hated that 3-Legged Jeans commercial (I know no one brought it up, but I just wanted to say I hated it) and another skit that I LOVED, was the skit where he would come on, and promote his new "childrens products". I'm sure you know what I'm talking about, as it was that damn great.

Ok...this one just came to me

When Carvey is doing his Peter Jennings bit...he wants to take off for the summer so they have him tape a bunch of news bits reporting Georald (sp) Ford's death in case he died while he was on vacation

After a handful of kind of funny ones...

CARVEY: "Gerold Ford was eaten by wolves today...and he was delicious"

That had me spitting pop everywhere the first time I saw it

(ummm Y-n-A- we agree on something).

No way...there must be a glitch in the matrix

Actually Carvey was doing Brokaw but that was a hilarious skit.

There's one he's about to read and he goes:

C'mon- is this one really necessary.

Fuck- I gotta see that new movie

Wow, I thought I was the only one who cared for the Continental skits. Besides that, I loved Walken's psychic skits! "You will eat icecream, and it will give you a headache, right here, and it will hurt, very, very bad!".

I found a transcript of the Dana-Gerald Ford skit-

Tom Brokaw: Okay, who are we up to?

Voice of Producer: Uh.. we're still on Presidents. Gerald Ford.

Tom Brokaw: Gerald Ford? Well, he's in good shape..

Voice of Producer: Just covering our bases, Tom. You never know..

Tom Brokaw: Alright, alright.. [ graphic of Gerald Ford, "1913-1996" appears over Tom's left shoulder ] "Gerald Ford dead today at the age of 83."

Voice of Producer: Okay, good. Annd, one for next year.

Tom Brokaw: Alright.. [ graphic of Gerald Ford, "1913-1997" ] "Gerald Ford dead today, at age 84."

Voice of Producer: Uh.. a little sadder.

Tom Brokaw: Alright. [ sad ] "Gerald Ford dead today.. at age 84.."

Voice of Producer: That was good. Good.

Tom Brokaw: Okay, what now?

Voice of Producer: Now let's do one for if he's shot.

Tom Brokaw: Well, what are the chances of that?

Voice of Producer: We're just covering contingencies.

Tom Brokaw: I mean, it just seems that Gerald Ford..

Voice of Producer: Look - you're the one who wants to spend the whole winter in Barbados, okay? Now, we gotta be ready with something, just in case. Alright, Tom?

Tom Brokaw: Alright, alright.. [ graphic of Gerald Ford, "1913-1996" ] "Gerald Ford shot dead today, at age 83."

Voice of Producer: Uh.. add the word "senseless".

Tom Brokaw: Alright. "Gerald Ford shot dead today, at the senseless age of 83."

Voice of Producer: Um.. uh..

Tom Brokaw: Alright, alright.. "Gerald Ford shot senselessly dead, at the age of 83."

Voice of Producer: Good, good.. Okay, now suicide.

Tom Brokaw: What?!

Voice of Producer: Just read it!

Tom Brokaw: Alright. "Gerald Ford dead today, after jupming out of an office building, senselessly."

Voice of Producer: That's a nice touch. Okay, moving on.

Tom Brokaw: Okay. "Gerald Ford dead today, from an overdose of crack cocaine."

Voice of Producer: Good, good.. Next.

Tom Brokaw: Alright. [ graphic of Gerald Ford and a commuter plane ] "Stunning news from Michigan, as former President Gerald Ford was chopped into little bits by the propeller of a commuter plane."

Voice of Producer: Good. One take.

Tom Brokaw: Alright, we got it?

Voice of Producer: No. We've got "eaten by wolves".

Tom Brokaw: What? Now, come on!

Voice of Producer: Just read it!

Tom Brokaw: Gerald Ford isn't gonna be eaten by wolves!

Voice of Producer: Taft was.

Tom Brokaw: Really? Taft?

Voice of Producer: Uh.. yeah.

Tom Brokaw: Alright, alright.. [ graphic of Ford surrounded by a pair of wolves ] "Tragedy today, as former President Gerald Ford was eaten by wolves. He was delicious." Now.. now, that's just superfluous, you know?

Voice of Producer: It's a former President, Tom. What do you say - he's not delicious?

Tom Brokaw: Alright, fine.. what's next?

Voice of Producer: The double story.

Tom Brokaw: Alright. [ graphic of Ford and map of France ] "A fireball destroyed France today, and Gerald Ford is dead." Now, what are the odds of that?

Voice of Producer: Fine. We'll get Stone Phillips to do it. You know, I'm sure Stone Phillips would be thrilled to break a story like that!

Tom Brokaw: Alright. Let's keep moving.. [ graphic of Ford and the corpse of Richard Nixon ] "Stunning news from Yorba Linda today, as Richard Nixon's corpse climbed out of his grave and strangled Gerald For to death."

Voice of Producer: Excellent.

Tom Brokaw: Alright. [ graphic of Ford and circus lion ] "Gerald Ford was mauled senselessly by a circus lion in a convenience store."

Voice of Producer: Good. Next.

Tom Brokaw: Alright. "Gerald Ford is dead today, and I'm gay." Now, wait a minute!

Voice of Producer: What? That'd be a huge story - Ford dying, and you coming out!

Tom Brokaw: But I'm not gay!

Voice of Producer: Today you're not gay, you know.. but then one day you wake up, you like men, and Gerald Ford dies, and we're screwed. Everyone's hearing about it from Dan Rather!

Tom Brokaw: Alright, alright.. what's this for?

[ graphic of Gerald Ford and the Zimbabwee flag appears ]

Voice of Producer: Alright, this one's for if we're invaded by Zimbabwee.

Tom Brokaw: Would I still be the anchor if Zimbabwee invaded us?

Voice of Producer: Yeah.. if you break the Gerald Ford story, you will..

Tom Brokaw: Alright. "Hola bambe, hungala dimba Gerald Ford.. *click* *click* *click* *click* ..hola bambe, allah bumba bubba hulla humba hey."

Voice of Producer: Very nice. Very nice. A little sadder, please.

Tom Brokaw: Alright, alright.. [ sadly ] "Hola bambe, hungala dimba Gerald Ford.. *click* *click* ..hola bambe.."

Walken was just great all around.

The one where they were doing the pople count deal...censos (my spelling blows)

"How many people live here, sir?"

WALKEN: "I dunno...*thinks* uh 50...me, my wife...the plants"

Ding, ding, ding, you got it. That is classic, just plain out classic. I also love The Dog Show skit, where they do an intervention for that one dog, that was great. DOG SHOW!

I'll totally ignore Downhome liking Dog Show.

The Census is just classic Walken-

Census-Taker: Listen, don't worry about it. I'm gonna put you down as the Primary Resident, okay? Now, are you currently employed?

Mr. Leonard: Yeah.. part of the time.

Census-Taker: Well, you work part-time. How many days of the week?

Mr. Leonard: Every day.. but just part of the day. From 9 to 5.

Census-Taker: So, you work a full day?

Mr. Leonard: I wouldn't say that. There are huge chunks of time.. at night.. where I'm just asleep. For hours. It's ridiculous

LMAO, I didn't say I liked them all, just that ONE. I think what did it was the line by Will Ferrell about eating latino boys. :o :o :o

Blah, frag those critics, they're just mad they aren't turtley enough for the turtle club. I'm going to see it regardless. =)

Whoever brought up Walken (too lazy to scroll back) shame on me for leaving the genius that is Christopher Walken out. And for the record, the Continental owns.

I got in trouble back when I was in school. Me and my best friend did the school news show on our channel everyday and one day when the teacher was gone, we flat out ripped off "Generalissimo Francisco Franco is still dead" with the help of the headmaster of the Hamilton Heights school for the hard of hearing, me. Teacher was PISSED the next day.
