Guest HBK16 Report post Posted August 1, 2002 I keep on hearing this talk about Hayabusa being in a backyard wrestling movie. Did he really appear in it? What is this movie called? I heard it was outragously stupid but a a big fan of Hayabusa should I check it out anyways?

Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted August 2, 2002 Backyard Dogs. It's about two backyard wrestlers that compete for different backyard feds across America, and it's just incredibly stupid. I mean, it tries to make us think that a 40-year-old biker backyard wrestles, and that the mafia has backyard wrestling rings. It also tries to say that backyard wrestling is nothing but DDTs, punching, and weak weapon shots (I think viewing any clip from those "Best of" tapes shows that DDTs are actually rarely used, punching is used a whole lot, and they'll hit each other with anything that will cause pain). I'd see the movie, but make sure you have weed and/or alcohol nearby...and LOTS OF IT.

Guest HBK16 Report post Posted August 2, 2002 Am I gonna be able to find this at Blockbuster or do I need to go somewhere else special or someting?
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted August 2, 2002 Best bet would be a Hollywood Video. Blockbuster doesn't usually cater to wrestling tapes, or indy films.
Guest HBK16 Report post Posted August 2, 2002 Damn! The two nearest Hollywood Video stores near my house closed down. I shall travel far now.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted August 2, 2002 If it wasn't for Ready to Rumble, I would peg Backyard Dogs as the WORST MOVIE EVER! I mean, it had all the factors of being the greatest movie ever; Hayabusa, Backyard Wrestling, and MOTHERFUCKING ZACK THE BLACK AS NIGHT RANGER FROM THE POWER FUCKIN RANGERS!!!! yet it couldn't deliver. It was trying to make a statement like Ready To Rumble was, but it was lost in the filmakers (incredibly flawed) concept of what pro wrestling is. Nothing but lowest common denominator trash that is more fitting to the kayfabulous world of the 80s where maybe 5% of the population thought the same way about wrestling... The only reason R2R is worse is because of the scale involved.
Guest Nezbyte Report post Posted August 2, 2002 Dont get Backyard Dogs, wait a while til "The Backyard" comes out. Ive got some of my pals in it.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted August 2, 2002 It COULD be classified as 'so bad it's good', but if you actually like wrestling it's rather insulting.

Ermmm, I don't know what kind of Blockbuster you go to, but the ones in my part of the Country (South-East), have PLENTY of wrestling tapes, actually it more like a hell of a lot of them, lol. As for Indy Films, wow, just wow. The Blockbusters around here, they are stock full of em, we have TONS of Indy and Foriegn films.

As a hardcore film buff who will drive great distances to find the only copy of Eraserhead or Don't Look Now within a 50-mile radius, I've gained quite a few insights on Blockbuster, or at least how they operate in middle Tennessee. -SOME Blockbusters have lots of wrestling tapes. Problem is, over the past year or so the vast majority of the stores around here sold off their old wrestling tapes, presumably to make room for DVDs. Also, some Blockbusters don't carry wrestling at all, mostly ones located in rich neighborhoods. -Indy and Foreign films, same thing. In a poor black neighborhood, good luck at even having a Foreign section at all. In upper-class areas, they've got tons of obscure movies.
Guest HBK16 Report post Posted August 2, 2002 My blockbyster had a lot of old wrestling videos from the 80's and early 90s but they got rid of all of them. The only video they have now is Wrestlemania 2000
