Guest Karnage Report post Posted August 2, 2002 Which movies you feel deserve a Special Edition DVD? You can include movies which haven't been released on DVD yet or movies that had a DVD release but it was bare bones. Here are some of mine: Fists of Fury Chinese Connection Return Of The Dragon Game Of Death The Legend Of The Drunken Master The Bill & Ted Movies All The Wrestlemanias Good Burger Black Hawk Down Spider-Man (Well it should have deleted scenes)
Guest MDH257 Report post Posted August 2, 2002 Goodfellas, Short Cuts, and The Shawshank Redemption. They're already working on a Black Hawk Down Special Edition. There's a French movie called "Girl on the Bridge" that I wish would be released on DVD, even without bonuses (it's only a couple of years old).
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted August 2, 2002 Ed Wood and Searching For Bobby Fischer. My 2 all time favorite movies...no SE dvds...
Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted August 2, 2002 The Indiana Jones Trilogy is at the top of my list.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted August 2, 2002 Your list sucks. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA SuperMods EXPLODE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Guest TheDames7 Report post Posted August 2, 2002 Ok....laugh if you must, but I'm serious. Friday the 13th, at least the first one, needs SOME sort of SE. The one they've got out now is overpriced, and it has NOTHING on it...for a movie that spawned tons of sequels, raked in MAD dough, and became part of our pop culture, Paramount did shit with it. Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted August 2, 2002 If they could get a Goodfellas with any kind of major cast commentary it would be great. I'd like to see special editions for the Young Guns movies...I've seen both about 20 times and could watch them 20 more. Anyone know when the big Dawn of the Dead set is out? Guest areacode212 Report post Posted August 2, 2002 Ghost World & Fargo could both use SEs. I have a feeling a Fargo SE will be coming along sooner or later. And I wish The Others had a commentary track.
Guest Mattdotcom Report post Posted August 2, 2002 One of my all-time favorite films, A Face in the Crowd, only has an impossible to find video. Crimewave, Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell's bomb of a follow-up to The Evil Dead, isn't on DVD and really hard to find. Oh, I just need another Sam/Bruce commentary. Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie has deleted scenes few have ever seen. While we're at it, MORE MST3K DVDs! Like Hobgoblins... The Batman "Legacy"...I wanna hear a Joel Shoemaker commentary for B&R... Hell, I say EVERY movie needs a stellar DVD...Hobgoblins has more extras than all four Batman movies! Guest Nevermortal Report post Posted August 2, 2002 Full Metal Jacket.
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted August 2, 2002 Aliens could use a commentary. I'd love to hear Sigourney, James, Michael, and Lance talk about making the movie and the different scenes...and oh yes, the minor fuck-up involving a Pulse Rifle and a Flamethrower... Night Of The Living Dead, the 1968 version, NEEDS a commentary. There's 3 DVDs of it out, and I don't think a single one has commentary on it.
Guest Crippler15 Report post Posted August 2, 2002 The Dog Day Afternoon dvd out now is pretty horrible with the video way below par and no extras either.
Guest Strike Force! Report post Posted August 2, 2002 Ghost World & Fargo could both use SEs. I have a feeling a Fargo SE will be coming along sooner or later. And I wish The Others had a commentary track. There is a rumored Fargo SE scheduled for this year. Plus, the barebones is OOP. So, you do the math. It's a great movie, and definitely deserving of one. As for Ghost World, it's a recent release, but I can definitely see Criterion possibly doing a release for this movie eventually. Guest C.H.U.D. Report post Posted August 2, 2002 Night Of The Living Dead, the 1968 version, NEEDS a commentary. There's 3 DVDs of it out, and I don't think a single one has commentary on it. The new Millennium edition of NOTLD has multi commentaries by the cast and crew. If you like this film, you can't go wrong with that version. As for movies I'm waiting for SE's of: Blade Runner (I hear a 3 disc is coming next year) Who Framed Roger Rabbit (I hear an SE is in the works)
Guest Incandenza Report post Posted August 3, 2002 I'm use to Criterion's overpricing, but something that steams my beans is that The Seven Samurai DVD only has a commentary by some film scholar, and the goddamn disc is $35. It's a great movie, natch, but the only reason I have it is I from a Borders gift card I received last Christmas. If they wanna have the price that high, then put out a truly special edition. I'm not asking for them to exhume Akira Kurosawa's corpse or anything, but come on!
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Report post Posted August 3, 2002 Well, one of my favorites got a SE disc a while ago(AKIRA), so I would like maybe a Batman Beyond SE, Robotech SE, or probably the Indiana Jones Trilogy.
Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted August 4, 2002 I say this all the time, and I'm sure you all are tired of hearing it, but... Chopping Mall!!!! Also, they need to release the Canadian special edition of Ginger Snaps down here in the States, because the bare-bones version we have here sux0rs!

Also, they need to release the Canadian special edition of Ginger Snaps down here in the States, because the bare-bones version we have here sux0rs! I'm hoping Anchor Bay or Blue Underground will eventually release Chopping Mall assuming the rights are available. As for Ginger Snaps, you could always grab the Canadian version off eBay or order it from a Canadian online retailer. It's worth it.
Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted August 5, 2002 As for Ginger Snaps, you could always grab the Canadian version off eBay or order it from a Canadian online retailer. It's worth it. About how much should I pay for it on eBay, or what's the average price for it? Are there any Canadian online retailers you can recommend? Also, I just thought of another movie that needs a DVD release... now that Them is on DVD, there's one '50s sci-fi classic left: The Day the Earth Stood Still! Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted August 6, 2002 How about the original Godzilla in R1? To my knowledge, the only version available is Godzilla, King of the Monsters, with Raymond Burr, which I don't like at all (even though I own it anyway).

Yea, maybe they could put on that "Thundercats bloopers" audio file that's been making the rounds on the internet for years. Maybe even combine it with some pencil sketches or deleted animation (if there are any)? Hmmm... maybe not, but it'd still be funny. Yea, "Thundercats" on DVD would be pretty cool. Guest Razor Roman Report post Posted August 6, 2002 Who framed Roger Rabbit. It at least neads a cleaned up transfer (the current DVD looks like someone digitized a print that was left lying on the floor for a few months). And it has to be anamorphic. And there was such a wealth of material on the making of that damn movie. They could even throw in "the Best of Roger Rabbit" video (which was the 3 theatrical cartoon shorts) in there as bonus material. The only DVD I'll ever need. Other than WWF No Way Out 2000.
