Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted August 2, 2002 when you go shopping do you not wear anything that is made by a certain company because of the sweat shop issues and stuff like that. For me its Nike. I never plan on wearing Nike clothing even if they paid me 100 million dollars to wear a piece of clothing by them. Just that the people making the clothing so cheap, and that the clothing usually cheap anyways (i like wasting 150 on a pair of shoes that fall apart the next day.) Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted August 2, 2002 Well for Nike, I think it is the sweatshop factor, and the overpricing. I mean a sleveless shirt is usually around $5-$10, yet if it has a Nike symbol on it, the same shirt is around $25. I don't buy into any crap about how Nike shoes are more comfortable, because when I was really young I wore Nike so I know how their shoes feel. It sucks too that more people don't care about child labor issues, thus continue buying from these crooked companies.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted August 2, 2002 I never owned a pair of NIKE's since I saw Phil Knight's interview with Roger Moore. I instantly switched to Adidas and PUMA.
Guest mesepher Report post Posted August 2, 2002 I shall never wear anything from the GAP. I'm not really into namebrand items, the only businesses I advertise for are bands.
Guest Karnage Report post Posted August 2, 2002 I also never have bought anything from the Gap. Does brands other than Nike use sweat shops? Columbia looks like they do, I've seen some jackets made in Thailand and Sri Lanka on the tags. If someone asked what brand of clothes I buy a lot of, it would be Kappa. I wear it like I'm a Kappa whore.
Guest starvenger Report post Posted August 2, 2002 Pretty much every company uses sweatshops. Even Roots has some of their stuff (mostly in the outlet stores) made in overseas sweatshops. You'd have to look at the smaller brands to find better quality stuff, I think. I suppose the issue really isn't who has sweatshops, but how much we're charged for the apparel. And once I go back to Toronto, I'm getting me some Yellow Fellow tees. Gotta represent, or something like that...
Guest Karnage Report post Posted August 2, 2002 Your right...even Wal-Mart uses sweatshops. Anyone ever heard of Porn Star? That's some hilarious clothing.
Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted August 2, 2002 everybody that talks to me say i'm a model from adidas because pratically everything i wear is usually adidas gear when i'm working out playing sports or just for the hell of it
Guest jimmy no nose Report post Posted August 2, 2002 I don't pay attention to those sweat shop issues, really Nike is the only company that I've heard uses them, but I'm sure many other companies do too. That said, Nike clothing is far too expensive for what it is. If I was still a high school kid and everyone I know was wearing those Abercrombie shirts, I still wouldn't buy any of that. I've seen just normal shirts that you'd find for maybe $15 that say Abercrombie that sell for like $60 and sell like crazy, I have no idea why people would buy that. I know one of those "cool" teen companies, I think it was Abercrombie, was selling pre-ripped jeans for $60. This whole idea just confuses me so much. If my jeans are going to be ripped it's going to be because of over-wearing them or because of my own stupidity(like say playing tackle football on cement, not a good idea). Guest Shaved Bear Report post Posted August 3, 2002 I shall never wear anything from the GAP. I'm not really into namebrand items, the only businesses I advertise for are bands. same thing with the bands when i work out, i use shirts from thrift stores that are 5 for 20 bucks i hate Gap Abercrombie Banana Republic Old Navy (cept for the jeans)
Guest MaxPower27 Report post Posted August 3, 2002 Well, I sell shoes, so the Nike hating about "shoes falling apart the next day" is crap. Nike does use sweatshops, but so do Reebok, Wal-Mart, Target, and K-Swiss, as well as other brands. Yes, Nike's prices for shirts are high, but most come with Dri-Fit, a newer way to keep your clothes dry, so it's worth it if you are running/playing basketball, etc. I wear Nike and And 1, even though I hate basketball. Comfortable clothes, worth the dough.
Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted August 3, 2002 actually bleeds it isn't crap, it actually did happen. I sent a letter to nike and they want me to pay them the same amount that i paid for the shoes plus another 100 dollars for research on why they fell apart. once i got that letter i never bought anything from nike again. oh i like old navy khaki's
Guest MaxPower27 Report post Posted August 3, 2002 Well, baron, what'd you do to them? Nike's shoes may be made in a sweatshop, but they don't just fall apart for no reason. If you did actually send the letter to Nike, did you sned it as a consumer complaint, or what, because Nike is pretty lenient about returns and damages on their products, especially when they are damaged. I just have a hard time believing you.
Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted August 3, 2002 nope that is what they said and I still have the letter as well too. i returned them to the place i got them from and got my money back and bought myself a new pair of adidas instead (they didn't have the right size)
Guest MaxPower27 Report post Posted August 3, 2002 Bah, Adidas doesn't stack up even close to Nike with support and cushioning, but hey, to each his own.

Guest Nezbyte Report post Posted August 3, 2002 Any label shit (Gap, Navy, A&F, Aeoropostle, Hillfinger, Skaters clothes, and rap shit). I buy generic colors for shirts, and Jnco pants. I balance it out like that; Target and Gadzooks, my 2 main shopping places. Oh, and with the new Hot Topic, ill prob get my leather goods there.
Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted August 3, 2002 Even if Nike and others like them NEVER used sweatshops I still wouldn't buy their stuff unless it was a severe sale. I agree with the guy that talked about Abercrombie. I mean I know some guy at work that wears that brand every single day TO WORK and I work in a warehouse enviornment, what a joke. Hey, if you have the money for luxuries, spend it I guess, but I know a lot of people in general that struggle to pay bills, yet they MUST have the new Air Jordan's or Nike T-shirt or Abercrombie deluxe....etc...... Guest Insanityman Report post Posted August 14, 2002 I don't wear A&F, Nike, GAP, Old Navy, all those type of stores... my friends and I have even burned a A&F shirt once, so beautiful I wanted to cry. I wear crappy t-shirts and really lame one's (like "2 Cool 2 Smoke" and it has trippy patterns), also these blank shirts with just color. And my bands shirts. Guest Grenouille Report post Posted August 15, 2002 I hate Abercrombie. I am a big guy and to me their T-shirts are tight under my arm pits after I wear it like 3 times. I too dislike Abercrombie's shit. It costs them a few bucks, maybe $4 to make a shirt, then they mark it up to $30 to sell. Crippler I think the problem with the shirts is that they're all cut to be muscle shirts, and not for anyone with a meat on their bones.
