Guest jimmy no nose Report post Posted August 2, 2002 I remember not too long ago hearing somewhere that Chris Tucker now gets $20 million per movie, the salary given to most Hollywood mega-stars. I like many of his movies(Rush Hour, Friday, Money Talks), but I can't imagine how any thing he does other than the Rush Hour series would make enough money to justify him making $20 million per movie. If I remember correctly he made something like $2-3 million for Money Talks and the first Rush Hour, then jumped way up to $20 million for Rush Hour based only on the success of Rush Hour and is also getting similar money for his future films. He got the money based on the fact that people WANTED to see him and Jackie together, but movie + Chris - Jackie = a huge paycut, IMO. I knew he was in Friday, I even included it in my first post in the part where I listed the movies I liked of his, but I just hadn't heard anything of his salary for that movie so I didn't mention it, I'd assume it was pretty low, because I'm pretty sure that Friday, like the original Rush Hour ended up being much bigger than they thought it would be(not to the same level as Rush Hour though). I totally agree with that second part, Chris Tucker is a funny guy, but people aren't going to go out in mass to see Chris Tucker without Jackie Chan. He has turned out good performances in everything I've seen, but him and Jackie just have that strange chemistry together. I'm amazed that studios think they have to pay Vin Diesel anything to get him in movies. I'd understand giving him maybe $5 million, because he's a popular young action star, but I have no idea why he'd get $20 million when his acting isn't that good. How many big movies has he been in? As far as Vin Diesel is concerned, I think Triple X looks like a shitty movie, so I am wondering why the would want to pay him huge money to make a sequel. Guest J*ingus Report post Posted August 3, 2002 In Diesel's case, I think the studios basically decided that they needed to create a new action superhero, since most of the ones we've got now are getting pretty old.
