Bad movie confessions.....

A Better Tomorrow II: the John Woo movie that nobody has seen, and the world is a poorer place for it. The first hour is some of the worst cinema I've ever seen, with incoherent storylines that pop up out of nowhere and die off into obscurity, and some REALLY bad acting, even by Woo's standards. But the last thirty minutes is incredible, with one helluva bravura death scene, and THE Best Shootout Ever.

Halloween 4: 2 was overrated, 3 didn't count, 5 was just there, and 6 was terrible, but of the original sequels Part 4 really stood out as trying to be different. It didn't help that they had a director who couldn't effectively film violence if John Carpenter had stuck his hand up his ass and controlled him like a puppet, but the rest of the film was very well done, especially the ending.

I loved A Better Tomorrow II when I was 15. I rewatched it recently and marvelled at the over the top melodrama and at times downright stunningly incomprehensible storytelling, before getting to the kick-ass finale.

I liked Halloween 4, as I felt that it actually tried to build some suspense. It didn't always work, but at times it was some really solid filmmaking.

Now some of my own:

I will admit to owning the SE DVD for Hell Comes to Frogtown. That film was hilarious. I loved Friday the 13th part 6, in a guilty pleasure way, and I'll probably get it on DVD in the near future. Infact, loads of cheap action and horror movies from the 80's can be added to my list. Assorted films with Van Damme (Bloodsport, Death Warrant) and even guys like Michael Dudikoff (American Ninja I & II, Avenging Force) would be on there.

Also add (Avenging) Disco Godfather. I don't think there have been many times when I've laughed as hard at a movie when it wasn't intended.

Oh yeah, almost forgot Remo Williams - the Adventure Begins. Chiun is my hero. Well, perhaps not, but he ruled anyway :D. If only it were available on DVD.

Some movies that for whatever reason, i can't seem to turn the channel when they come on.

3 Amigos, The Adventures of Ford Fairlane, any movie with Steven Segal or Jean Claude Van Damme, Lost in Space, Godzilla and all of Rodney Dangerfields movies.

Oh, forgot one:

The Last Dragon- "BULLETS with his TEETH! Nigga, pleeze!" God, where do you even start with this one? One of the simultaneously best and worst kung-fu movies ever made. To put it all in perspective, the last time I watched it, I realized that the villain doesn't actually do anything. No visible means of income whatsoever. He and his goons just wander around, looking for heroes to beat up for no real reason.

OMG, can't believe I forgot that, considering my friends and I were talking about it last night. I agree that while it's laughable, it's still a great karate flick (to me anyhow)

Here's a guilty pleasure I'm sure everyone will hate. I actually like Predator 2 more than Predator.
