Guest Respect The 'Taker Posted August 3, 2002 Report Posted August 3, 2002 They're both pretty damn good if you ask me, which will only heighten the expectations of the next one they do. Personally, im going for Hitman-HBK just because i love Bret Hart more than Rock,HHH or HBK, and Bret really shines in parts of this match. This has been the Taker Mark
Guest The Ruthless Aggressor Posted August 3, 2002 Report Posted August 3, 2002 I think I'll have to go with the more recent HHH VS Rock, since the match wasn't just 40 minutes of restholds with a hot finish. It was a great match, it would of been ***** if your hero Taker' hadn't ruined it.

Well thank fucking god MICHAEL COLE wasn't commentating or NO-ONE would of even bought the damn Pay-Per View 'Taker rules This has been the one, and seemingly only, Taker Mark
Guest The Ruthless Aggressor Posted August 3, 2002 Report Posted August 3, 2002 Just like no one bought the last three pay-per-views which 'Taker main evented.
Guest Respect The 'Taker Posted August 3, 2002 Report Posted August 3, 2002 Just like no one bought the last three pay-per-views which 'Taker main evented. Cole was on those one's too mate Taker-Mark
Guest The Ruthless Aggressor Posted August 3, 2002 Report Posted August 3, 2002 Maybe in two of the interview segments. I don't think him shilling the Smackdown matches hurt the buyrate that much.
Guest kingkamala Posted August 3, 2002 Report Posted August 3, 2002 Fellas fellas please we all know that Michael Cole is a little goatee wearing Bi atch and Undertaker hasn't been that much of a draw since 1998 but I love them both(Well not Cole but I've always really liked the Undertaker)
Guest The Ruthless Aggressor Posted August 3, 2002 Report Posted August 3, 2002 Us Cole Marks are few and far between, but at least there is another one on the board!
Guest Respect The 'Taker Posted August 3, 2002 Report Posted August 3, 2002 SOMEONE's gotta mark for Taker
Guest The Ruthless Aggressor Posted August 3, 2002 Report Posted August 3, 2002 I used to mark for Taker back in the day, but you need to get with the times, and leave your love for him in the past. Just about everybody liked the Undertaker at one point, but he's just been so dull lately. The Biker gimmick is dreadfully boring, and his ringwork has been terrible. He should really be retiring soon, hopefully at the next Survivor Series.
Guest BionicRedneck Posted August 3, 2002 Report Posted August 3, 2002 HBK/Hart is better for actual wrestling
Guest Respect The 'Taker Posted August 3, 2002 Report Posted August 3, 2002 I really don't think you should be advising me on my tastes, everyone has their own. Taker has ALWAYS been my favourite wrestler, from the time i began watching wrestling till now, he's ALWAYS been my main reason for watching the WWF/E. I'll be the first to admit he ain't what he used to be, but the Taker is still over with most of the fans, plus he has stuck with Vince through practically everything...and proven he is not only loyal, but a team player as well. If anything , NOW, the Undertaker is reaping the benefits from all the hard work he put into keeping the WWF alive when it was almost certain that Death was about to pay a visit. Not that this has ANYTHING to do with the topic of this post... So to make it relevant i propose ANOTHER iron man match - Michael Cole vs The Undertaker. Ohhh..sounds bikerific, hey Aggressor? Taker-Man - Be one with the power of the motor-vehicle
Guest The Ruthless Aggressor Posted August 3, 2002 Report Posted August 3, 2002 If Taker left for WCW he wouldn't be able to use The Undertaker gimmick and he would be useless, and if anything, he owes Vince, without The undertaker gimmick he would of been just another big man.
Guest BionicRedneck Posted August 3, 2002 Report Posted August 3, 2002 Taker was a hell of a big man worker in 96-98, but injuries have definately took there toll.
Guest bob_barron Posted August 3, 2002 Report Posted August 3, 2002 Bret Hart v. HBK is booooooooring and the 0-0 was really gay. HHH v. Rock is exciting and one of my all time faves
Guest BionicRedneck Posted August 3, 2002 Report Posted August 3, 2002 OK, serious question... How old were you when you watched it first?, and have you watched it since? Im not being a dick, the first time i watched it I was about 12-13 and i was bored. But, since i stopped being a mark and actually enjoyed the wrestling side of the sport, i re-watched it and enjoyed it much more. I suppose if your a Sports Entertainment fan Rock/HHH is better, tho.
Guest The Ruthless Aggressor Posted August 3, 2002 Report Posted August 3, 2002 I actually enjoyed the match more as a mark. It was exciting since it was my first Wrestlemania, and it was hyped as such a huge match and all.
Guest bob_barron Posted August 3, 2002 Report Posted August 3, 2002 I've only seen the Ironman match and it was in March. While there are some parts that kick ass it is very dull at times
Guest razazteca Posted August 3, 2002 Report Posted August 3, 2002 wrestlemania 12 finish was so good that they did it again in the Survivor Series.
Guest bob_barron Posted August 3, 2002 Report Posted August 3, 2002 Bret getting screwed out of the title?
Guest BionicRedneck Posted August 3, 2002 Report Posted August 3, 2002 The funny/sad thing about it is, after Bret catches HBK in the sharpshooter, and the time runs out, and Bret walks away with the title, i turn it off. Then i'm all like "Oh well, Bret retained the title"
Guest The Ruthless Aggressor Posted August 3, 2002 Report Posted August 3, 2002 I hated the overtime, it really cheapend the finish, I mean would it off killed Bret to job cleanly? And would it off killed them to lose some falls to each other? I agree with Barron that the 0-0 was lame.
Guest bob_barron Posted August 3, 2002 Report Posted August 3, 2002 They stole that ending from Clash 1
Guest razazteca Posted August 3, 2002 Report Posted August 3, 2002 you know if its a good ending it must be repeated at least 5 times no Clash 1 had a time limit draw that went to the judges.....Jason Hervey the Wonder Years kid!!!!!
Guest godthedog Posted August 3, 2002 Report Posted August 3, 2002 this is really depressing...i've spent months pimping the bret/flair iron man match every way i can (ALWAYS mention it in anything relating to iron man matches, best bret matches, best flair matches, best matches PERIOD...even did a rant on it, which i never do), and when this topic comes up the match isn't even on the poll. nor is it mentioned in the 23 replies. either i'm not paying my job or nobody's paying attention. let me say once again: bret hart v. ric flair from the boston garden house show is the single greatest iron man match of all time, and one of the greatest matches of all time period. it easily beats bret/hbk and rock/trips in workrate, psychology, drama, and especially pacing. other forgotten iron man matches: bret/owen from the summer of 94 & steamboat/rude from 92 (although i haven't seen it). of the choices...after i see it once, rock/trips loses a lot of replay value because there's lots of pointless brawling inbetween those falls, & after half an hour both guys seem burned out so the match...slows...down...so...much. bret/hbk i can watch over & over again and study because they do actual wrestling & for the most part it looks great. hbk has enough mini-comebacks & crazy bumps to keep me interested the whole time.
Guest bob_barron Posted August 3, 2002 Report Posted August 3, 2002 HBK v. Bret is just flat out boring. Rock v. HHH builds- the fact that there were so many falls towards the end is pschycology at its finest
Guest godthedog Posted August 3, 2002 Report Posted August 3, 2002 HBK v. Bret is just flat out boring. Rock v. HHH builds- the fact that there were so many falls towards the end is pschycology at its finest the last half hour of rock/trips bores me. all that outside brawling is just endless. i've heard so much praise for that sleeper spot, but it's obviously just an excuse for both of them to rest because it goes on forever. the actual wrestling is a little sloppy, especially the piledriver and the botched ddt. all the falls are great booking trying to cover for bad pacing. bret & shawn actually picked up the pace of their match as it went on longer (especially shawn's offensive flurry during the last few minutes).
Guest BionicRedneck Posted August 3, 2002 Report Posted August 3, 2002 HBK/Bret didnt have as much resting as HHH/Rock HBK/Hart had build, whereas in the middle of HHH/Rock they literally just stop and HHH has the sleeper on for ages. Oh, and the reason i didnt mention any other iron man match was because it wasn't in the poll, so i didnt see the point.
Guest TheDames7 Posted August 3, 2002 Report Posted August 3, 2002 The reason the HHH sleeper spot is so revered, even though its a rest hold is because it actually factored into a fall finish. All of the times HHH puts the sleeper on makes sense....None of the Bret/HBK restholds really factored into the finish. Dames
