The Truth tells The Truth...

NWA TNA superstar Ron "The Truth" Killings was the guest this week on Chairshots. The show can be heard 24/7 at http://www.chairshots.com and the host is Rod Siciliano. Here are some highlights from that interview:

-On where The Truth gimmick came from: "It came from Vince Russo. The first time he saw me he was at home watching the NWA TNA show and the first time seeing me come to the ring he just saw it and once he met me in person and got to see me visually do a show, he said there was nothing...no way he could come up with anything but The Truth."

-On Vince Russo: "I love working with Vince Russo. He is the smartest writer in the business. You saw what he did with the WWF. I feel the Rock wouldn't be who the Rock is and Stone Cold wouldn't be who he is. Vince Russo was behind all of that."

-On Low Ki`s reputation for working stiff: "Low Ki is no stiffer than anybody else. Some things are going to be stiff, some things I do may be stiff. You know what I'm saying? Certain moves you're going to do are going to have that stiff impact. If you can't take it, professional wrestling may not be your line of work."

-On how was released from the WWF: "Johnny Ace called me and said he just got a call from Jim Ross and he said he's sorry that he was the one to have to give me this message. I knew it was nothing good then. He was like I think you're a great talent. Johnny Ace even offered to give me numbers for people interested in booking me in Japan and everywhere. Like I told him, 'Johnny I never had a problem with you. You're just doing what you were told to do. You're doing your job. You can't give me information that they don't give you to give me. 'He himself could not figure it out. That's all he was told. To call me and release me."

-On whether he's ever been told by someone from WWE why he was released: "I called the office, I called Vince McMahon, I left a message for Stephanie, I left a message for Shane, I left a message for Jim Ross. Everybody I normally talk to on my cell phone. I called and nobody returned the phone call. That was a low blow to me. Losing my job wasn't a low blow because I feel like god gave me this talent and as long as I'm living and got life in my body I'm going to use my talent. I'll never stop. But when I'm a part of what's supposed to be a big family and I'm not a part of that family anymore, I deserve an explanation as to why. What did I do, say, or didn't do."

-On whether he'd go back to WWE if given the chance: "Would I go back? Hell No!"

Your thoughts?

In the WWE, K-Kwik reminded me of Elix Skipper... that's not a good thing...

K-Kwik Then was a Talented Full potential Wrestler who's short appearance in the ring impressed people with his Athletics and his balance in the ring. He was a perfectly good talented African American Crusierweight....... Vinnie Mac JR and company just forgot he was working for them. and let him go completely obvilious on the Talent that he was.

Dont be all racist on Hunter.

JR is a good ol' boy, and a cowboy, so it's semi-amusing to mock him.

Aren't Hispanics and Mexicans essentially the same thing? As in Mexicans being one group that falls under the Hispanic umbrella.

In regards to the Truth, he might well win the title on Wednesday. I have to wonder though, if winning would hurt his gimmick. I mean, if he won the title he'd be the Man....therefore he'd have no need to take it to the Man.

It might actually be better for him to lose to Shamrock via some screwy decision, so then he can keep ranting about being held down and all that.

A *wrestling* character makes you proud to be black?

Then, shit, Benoit makes me proud to be white!

No offense ment, but that statement seemed to be uber-retarded.

I feel as if a giant pit has opened in the Earth and I've fallen through it. And on the other side is Bizarro Earth.

And in this strange, new place, I'm finding that The Truth, who previously was a wrestler I didn't give two shits about, has now become one of my favorite performers.

It's weird, but I'm learning to love it.

He could talk about how he "Had to take the opportunity, they weren't going to give it to him, he had to take it". It could also be used as a reason for him cheating to win the match.

I think "The Truth" saying he wouldn't go back to the WWE is crap. He can't be getting paid that much money with NWA:TNA. I know he may feel loyal to them but if the WWE offered him a 200,000 grand base salary with incentives I highly doubt he would turn it down. In the end it all comes down to money and that has been shown many times before.

Just from a personal standpoint...

If I had as much going for me as Truth did...

WWE saddled me with a lame gimmick then released me without telling me why...

then someone else gave me a chance to show what I could do...

and I could live on the money I had...

FUCK THE WWE.

Understandable viewpoint, bps. I don't think it's far from the truth either, no pun intended. Hopefully he can make a decent living wrestling outside of the WWE so he won't have to recant his statement. But you know the WWE will try to go after him with the power of the chequebook when he makes his way to the top of the NWA:TNA totem pole, which at this point is a given barring a fold.

Did you even listen to the show?

After the way they treated him why would he want to go back? He doesn't seem like a greedy guy and if/when TNA gets a TV deal and goes big, who do you think is inline for the big money? He just needs enough he can live off of for now.

Do you think he'd EVER main event in the WWE? He'd be lucky for a Cruiser title or *possibly* IC. Can you say Jericho v.2?

In TNA he has more character control. He couldn't even release CDs in the WWE. And if he was a part of the big family the WWE is, why couldn't they at least say, "You weren't drawing enough..." or atleast something.

His promos aren't really motivated by the race card. He's never said anything referring to races. When he refers to they are holding me or you back he isn't saying that the white man is holding us black folk down.

It's basically him talking about people in charge of wrestling promotions holding down good wrestlers and in the case of his thing with the cage dancer making women do sleazy stuff.

But i can understand people mistaking what he's doing as playing the race card. Hopefully they somewhat start showing that he isn't just talking about race soon. Which they did start last show by having him talking about them holding Steamboat down.

I agree

It could be a race angle...but it could be a cleverly veiled anti-establishment angle.

The duplicity of it makes it work.

I think it's slowly changing from a black man who's being held back...to a talent who is being held back...who happens to be black.

Big difference.

If Truth wasn't so good...I don't think the angle would evolve at all...

but he is good...and every word he says is pretty much true.

Well, a thinly-vieled "this is a shoot!" dig at the WWE.....

Let's just say it Smells Like Russo.
