I don't know about you guys, but that giant picture of Mike that says "INNOCENT" should've ended the argument yesterday.

LexLugerRules: Wow you hate Mike Tyson?

And do i give a shit?

Two pages later, it's obvious he does.

"Jason Kidd beat the shit out of his wife, yet you all praise him like god."

I've never once praised Jason Kidd, so don't generalize me into that group. Of course, no one tried to rationalize Kidd's behavior by claiming he was only playing a character, so it's a poor comparison to begin with.

"Sugar Ray Leonard also beat his wife"

There's another man I wanted to see pounded like a bitch in the middle of the ring.

"Counseling is just plain bullshit, why hire someone to tell them somthing about you that you already know?"

Believe me, I hold a dim view of psychiatry and many of those who practice it, but counseling has helped some people. It would also show thay Tyson is making an effort to turn his life around instead of carrying on with more of the same.

"And how the hell you know Tyson hasent taken counseling?"

Because he loves the spotlight too much to not have something like that reported.

"I met THE REAL Mike Tyson, and he is far from a psychopath."

I'm sure he makes a habit of acting like a lunatic around high-school kids. Ted Bundy didn't kill and eat everyone he met, either. Besides, I'm sure it's not possible at all that your obvious pro-Tyson bias would affect your opinion...

Tyson is a nice guy and he's also a generous one. My best friend's brother is a bartender at a bar that Tyson has frequented and he says that Tyson is a very generous guy. Early in his career, Tyson was a stand up guy. He tried to be polite with the media, and he was humble as well. He was trying so hard to be a nice guy, that he would try to help people up after he knocked them out. When he was the nice guy, people didn't care about that. They decided to make fun of his voice and make portray him as a moron.

That's really ashame.

While you were bitching about his personal problems, I was marking the fuck out for his fights.

It's ashame you never enjoyed a Leonard fight.

Yeah they helped like the 30% of their patents. While the other 60% commit suidice, or become more crazy than they ever was.

I am sure your con-Tyson bias hasent affected you.

"While you were bitching about his personal problems, I was marking the fuck out for his fights."

I never took an interest in Leonard's personal problems. I disliked him because he was ridiculously arrogant (not just cocky, which is ok), and because he retired and un-retired about 5000 times. If you're going to retire, fucking stay retired. If you're addicted to the spotlight, don't retire in the first place. It's not difficult.

"Yeah they helped like the 30% of their patents. While the other 60% commit suidice, or become more crazy than they ever was."

That's only 90%. :P

Besides, the mortality rate for people in therapy isn't nearly that high. Those who benefit from it actually benefit from a knowledgeable person who just listens to them and asks them questions about the right things at the right times. But Tyson has chosen to surround himself with yes-men (a common failure among athletes) instead of even trying to get help for his problems. Someone who doesn't even make an effort to help himself is deserving of scorn, not pity.

"I am sure your con-Tyson bias hasent affected you."

See, I have an anti-Tyson bias BECAUSE of the things he's done. When he started out, I thought he was tremendous. Then it became obvious he had some serious issues, and when he chose to ignore them instead of work his way thru them, I said the hell with him. I have NO pity for people who bring their problems on themselves, and no pity for those unwilling to help themselves when they have a problem. Tyson supporters seem to like him because they see him as some wrongly-persecuted symbol of lost innocence. I'm afraid I just can't buy into that load of hooey.

I'll agree that his 1997 comeback was stupid as hell, but why should he have stayed retired in the 80's? He still had talent, and was a HUGE draw. Look how well he did againest one of the top 10 pound 4 pound boxers, Marvin Hagler.

That's only 90%.

Mike Tyson hasent choosen to hang around with yes-man. He needed Don King to become succesful. Don King, although is the biggest asshole ever, is the greatest boxer promoter ever. Look at Ali's biggest fight, Rumble In The Jungle for example.

I am a Tyson Supporter because I GREW UP A TYSON a supporter.

Even before the whole rape bullshit, I was a Tyson mark.

And I doubt Tyson ignored his problems, its kinda hard to ignore your problems, when the MEDIA is on your jock 24/7.

Although im not a huge Tyson fan, i would agree to some extent. Although alot of Tyson's problems were caused by Tyson himself, he has had no real father figure, and he has been used by people who see him as a meal ticket.

Either way, he should retire now. Any Tyson fan who thinks he would beat Lewis are kidding themselves.
