Guest Angle2004 Report post Posted August 4, 2002 I decided to book NWA TNA instead of WWE. I might continue WWE later on but TNA is really intriguing to me right now. Tell me what you guys think. NWA TNA – August 7, 2002 LIVE from Nashville, Tennesee -The show opens with Chris Harris/James Storm vs. Slash/Tempest vs. The Dupps vs. Elvises in a tag team elimination match with the winner getting a shot at the tag team titles next week. Father Mitchell accompanies Slash/Tempest. This one goes 15 minutes. Slash/Tempest get the win and a shot at Lynn/Styles next week. Elvises are eliminated first when Sonny Siaki gets them DQ’d after attacking Slash and Tempest. The Dupps are next when Chris Harris pins Stan Dupp. Slash/Tempest then eliminate Storm/Harris after Slash pins Storm. -The TNA girls dance as the announcer hype tonight’s card. -Backstage, Scott Hall meets with Ricky Steamboat. Hall is pissed about Steamboat’s role in the main event last week. Steamboat apologizes for last week and says that he was only trying to keep the match fair. Hall says that he’s pissed off and he wants Jarret in a rematch tonight. Steamboat says that JJ is already booked but he will book him against a guy who’s been looking for some action ever since week 1… Steve Corino. Hall still says that he has a lot of frustration after next week and tonight he’s gonna take it out on Corino. -Next up is Chris Daniels taking on Amazing Red for the #1 contendership of the NWA X title. These guys blow the roof off in a tremendous 13-minute match. Red ends up taking the clean win with a spinning moonsault off the top rope. He gets the X-title shot next week. -AJ Styles comes out for an interview. AJ says that last week Jerry Lynn got exactly what was coming to him last week. He says that Jerry Lynn is a 37 years old man and the only thing he has to show for being a pro wrestler is his scarred-up body. Styles says that being around Lynn diminished his own skills. AJ says that he had no choice but to turn on Lynn. Styles says that he needed to stop Lynn from brainwashing him about “traditional wrestling” because Styles would have ended up just like Lynn – an old hack that has busted his ass for 14-years and hasn’t accomplished a damn thing. I want to make it seem like Styles seriously thinks that if he would have stuck with Lynn his career would have went down the drain. He almost seems paranoid about it. Jerry Lynn then interrupts. Jerry calls Styles and ungrateful little shit. He says that if there’s one thing he’ll accomplish is kicking Styles’ punk-ass all over the Nashville Fairgrounds. He runs to the ring and they brawl. Lynn gets the best of it and hits a piledriver on Styles. Lynn goes to the outside and sets up a table right next to the apron. He goes back in but AJ low blows him out of nowhere. AJ throws Lynn to the ropes and hits a spinning-heel kick. AJ then takes Lynn to the apron. He hooks him in and hits the cradle-piledriver on Lynn down through the table and to the floor. The announcers pimp how this is insult to injury as AJ nailed Lynn with his own move. AJ walks off as the announcers wonder if Lynn will be able to compete in the 3-way X-title match later tonight. -Backstage, Goldylocks catches up with The Flying Elvises. Estrada and Yang are pissed at Siaki for costing them the match. Siaki says that it’s not about them… it’s about Sonny Siaki. He promises to make his fellow Elvises proud tonight. He then walks off as Goldy wonders what he’s talking about. -Jeff Jarret is out with a microphone. He brags about beating Scott Hall last week. He says that he will keep destroying TNA superstars until he gets a shot at the NWA title. Jarret promises that no one can stop him and says that the NWA front office can kiss his ass. He then tells Monty Brown to come out here and get what’s coming to him. The Alpha Male makes his way out but all of a sudden the Truth runs up behind him and nails him with that metal belt. Jarret joins Killings on the stage and they stomp away at Brown. Head of security, Don Harris runs out and drags The Truth off of Brown. Harris then drags Truth to the back -Jeff Jarret vs. Monty Brown goes a good 10 minutes. Tons of action in this one. Brown looks like he has the advantage but Jarret quickly reverses things and hits the Stroke for the clean win. -Backstage, Disco is talking to Ricky Steamboat. Steamboat tells Disco the NWA front office has decided to cancel Jive Talkin’. Disco gets a pissed off look on his face as Steamboat walks away. Just then, Paulina walks by. She’s mad at Disco because he promised her a job as “Miss Jive Talking” but now she’s screwed. She slaps Disco and walks away. -Scott Hall vs. “Old School” Steve Corino is next. This one goes 11 minutes and is really competitive. Hall looks like he’s got the win but Corino hits a low blow and gets himself disqualified. Corino takes out a pair of brass knuckles out of his trunks and beats the hell out of Hall with them. Hall is bleeding from the nose and Corino then kicks him out of the ring. Officials arrive to help Hall to the back. -Corino then grabs a microphone. He says that his match with Scott Hall wasn’t randomly booked. He went to Ricky Steamboat and demanded the match. He says that Hall is represents everything that’s wrong with wrestling. He gives pro wrestling a black eye. Corino talks about how Hall has been hired and fired something like 100 times. He says that Hall robs the wrestling fans every time he takes up TV time because he stinks up the place. Hall hasn’t been motivated in years and he’s trying to mooch off the hard work of others. Corino says that NWA TNA is an alternative to wrestling fans and a good place to work for wrestlers who choose to not sell out to Vince McMahon. He says that guys like Scott Hall will put TNA out of business. Corino says that his campaign to rid NWA TNA of dead weight has begun. And it has begun with Scott Hall. Corino says that he will protect TNA from cancers like Scott Hall and promises to preserve Old School Wrestling. -Backstage, Don Harris is shown getting ready for the Blood Match against Malice later on. Suddenly, Sonny Siaki runs up and nails Don over the head with a lead pipe. The announcers speculate on why the hell he would do that. -Backstage, Goldy interviews The Truth. He says that tonight he finally gets a shot at a World Title. He says that all he ever wanted was an opportunity. And tonight he will win the NWA title. Suddenly, Monty Brown runs up and brawls with Truth. Security arrives to pull him off, which allows Truth to get in a cheap shot in. -Up next is a good 12-minute match between The Hot Shots and the Rainbow Express. Lenny wrestles most of the match while Bruce is too busy playing with his crown from the Miss TNA match last week. Lenny tries to make a tag but Bruce is too busy showing off his crown to the crowd. This allows Cassidy O’Reilly to hit a sit-down powerbomb on Lenny for the pin. After the match, Lenny argues with Bruce. Lenny then grabs the crown and knocks Bruce’s head off with it. Gertner tries to talk some sense into him but he nails Gertner as well. Lenny walks off as Gertner checks on Bruce. -We get a recap of the AJ Styles/Jerry Lynn storyline capped off with AJ turning on Jerry Lynn last week. -The 3-way NWA X title match is next. It starts out with Lo Ki vs. AJ Styles. The announcers say that Jerry Lynn is still to injured to compete. The match goes 18 minutes and the crowd is really into it. Towards the end, Jerry Lynn limps out and joins the match. The announcers make a big deal of Jerry’s will to compete. Lynn goes right after Styles, which allows Lo Ki time to rest. Ki then surprises Lynn with the Tidal Wave kick, which knocks Lynn out of the ring. Ki then hits the Ki Crusher 99 on Styles and gets the win and the NWA X Championship! Lynn and Styles then brawl to the back. -Goldy interviews NWA Champion, Ken Shamrock in the back. He talks about how he’s answered all challenges to the NWA title and has come out on top. Whether it be sending Omori back to Japan or making Malice tap, he hasn’t backed down from anyone. He says that it will be no different with The Truth. He promises to defeat him tonight and then he’s going to go after one man that he’s wanted from day 1 and that’s Jeff Jarret. -Father Jim Mitchell leads his Disciples of the New Church to the ring. Mitchell says that he is a misunderstood man. The New Church is a family not some type of cult. He says guys like Malice, Slash, and Tempest have been tortured all of their life because they were “different.” They chose to live their lives on the “dark side” and society has rejected them for it. When Mitchell found out that Slash, Tempest, and Malice were in the NWA he knew that the NWA would treat them like animals just like society has. So he felt that it was his duty to take these men under his wing. And now, Mitchell has assembled an army. He says that the NWA TNA will pay for what these men have been put through. Mitchell says that the blood of all the NWA TNA superstars will be on the hands of the New Church. He promises that the New Church will continue to expand. He announces that from now on, all of Malice’s matches will be contested under “First Blood” rules. Mitchell says that last week was just the beginning and the horror will continue this week. HE then tells Don Harris to get his ass out here and “bring his blood.” -It’s not Don Harris that comes out but what we get is Sonny Siaki. Siaki gets a mike and says that the New Church have started something that they cannot finish. They put their hands on Sonny Siaki last week. Siaki calls them a bunch of freaks. He says that earlier tonight he took out Don Harris just so he could get a another piece of Malice and that’s exactly what he’ll do… right now! Siaki runs in and the match is underway. It goes 9-minutes before Malice gets the win after busting Siaki open with a chair. The Disciples then swarm the ring and beat on Siaki. The announcers note that the Elvises aren’t coming out here to help Siaki and Tenay says that it serves him right. Slash and Tempest tie Siaki in the ropes. Mitchell and Malice rip at Siaki’s wound and get his blood all over their hands. Suddenly, Apollo runs out with a chair and clears the ring. The announcers note that the Disciples beat up Apollo last week. The Disciples back up the ramp, yelling curses at Apollo. -The announcers hype next week’s card. Don West does his Home Shopping Network role. HE hypes Amazing Red vs. Lo Ki going at it for the X-division Championship. He also pimps up Slash/Tempest vs. Lynn/Styles for the tag titles but wonders how Lynn/Styles can possibly team together after what happened last week and what’s gone down tonight, including Styles’ comments. West also says that Scott Hall has promised to confront Steve Corino next week. -Up next is the anticipated main event for the NWA Championship between Ron “The Truth” Killings vs. Ken Shamrock. The match goes 10 minutes with Killings holding his own throughout the match. In the end, Shamrock hits two belly to belly suplexes and gets the pin. One problem though: Killings’ foot was under the rope. The announcers make note of this with Ferrara saying that The Truth has been screwed over again. Shamrock poses with the belt but all of a sudden Jeff Jarret runs out and attacks him. Shamrock and Jarret brawl up the ramp and to the back. The cameras follow them as they brawl throughout the backstage area. We then switch back to the arena where The Truth is arguing with the referee about his foot on the ropes. The referee denies it and Truth nails him with a punch out of nowhere. Truth beats the hell out of the referee. More officials run in but Truth beats up all of them. Truth then jumps out and picks a fight with a front-row fan (a plant). Truth pulls him over the railing and starts kicking the hell out of him. TNA goes off the air with the Truth going nuts and continuing beating on the fan.
