Guest LesnarLunatic Report post Posted August 4, 2002 G1 Climax - Block A: Hiroshi Tanahashi [4] beat Kensuke Sasaki [2] (1:40) with an inside cradle. No kidding...
Guest PlatypusFool Report post Posted August 4, 2002 Day 2 did sound like a very strange thing. Yasuda also KO'd one of the top picks for the tournament, Nakanishi, in their match, also in a very short time. The Tanahashi thing I think is ok, as he will probly lose the rest of his matches, or at least most of them. Unfortunately, his win means that Sasaki's new SWING-LOWS group, of which Tanahashi was a member, will probly now collapse, as Tanahashi said it would if he won this G1 match. This is because the group will have "accomplished it's goal", that being to elevate new stars by having them associated with Sasaki. I think this is a shame if the group does disband, as it's only been alive for a few weeks, and they were gaining steam. The Yasuda win is a crying shame, I wanted Nakanishi to look strong throughout, but Inoki-ism is starting to prevent that. Damn you Lurch, damn you! The rest of the show looked decent, not as good as yesterdays by any means, but then yesterdays was a PPV, so it's expected. GO TENZAN!
