Guest Black Tiger Report post Posted August 4, 2002 This time I beat Platypus Fool to the punch. 1. Blue Wolf beat Toru Yano (5:24) with a Mongolian slam. 2. Masayuki Naruse beat Wataru Inoue (6:20) with a sleeper hold. 3. Jushin Thunder Liger, Minoru Tanaka & Masahito Kakihara beat Koji Kanemoto, Jado & Gedo (14:54) when Kakihara used the Kaki Cutter on Kanemoto. Kakihara vs Kanemoto? I thought Kakihara was going to be a heavyweight. 4. G1 Climax - Block A: Shiro Koshinaka [2] beat Yutaka Yoshie [0] (10:54) with a cradle. This match was probably very hard on the eyes. 5. G1 Climax - Block B: Yuji Nagata [4] beat Kenzo Suzuki [2] (14:51) with the Nagata Lock II. Probably wasn't too bad since Nagata carried it. It says a lot that Chono is willing to give younger guys chances for great matches, and sometimes victories, speaking of big wins... 6. G1 Climax - Block A: Hiroshi Tanahashi [4] beat Kensuke Sasaki [2] (1:40) with an inside cradle. HO LY SHIT, I was NOT expecting that one. Maybe Chono will push his own version of the 3 Muskateers and Tanahashi will be one of them. 7. G1 Climax - Block B: Tadao Yasuda [2] beat Manabu Nakanishi [1] (2:15) with a straight right punch. Damn, I hate Yasuda. 8. G1 Climax - Block B: Osamu Nishimura [2] vs. Masahiro Chono [1] went to a draw (30:00) when the time limit expired. 2 Draws for Nishimura, its nice to try to give an old school feel, but considering the styles clash here it must have felt more like 30 hours. 9. G1 Climax - Block A: Yoshihiro Takayama [2] beat Hiroyoshi Tenzan [2] (13:18) with a German suplex hold. Takayama is now my pick for Block A, his only competiton left is Tanahashi, Koshinaka, and Yoshie. Current Standings Block A: 1. Hiroshi Tanahashi [4] (who would have thought?) 2. Kensuke Sasaki [2] 3. Yoshihiro Takayama [2] 4. Hiroyoshi Tenzan [2] 5. Shiro Koshinaka [2] 6. Yutaka Yoshie [0] Block B: 1. Yuji Nagata [4] 2. Kenzo Suzuki [2] 3. Tadao Yasuda [2] (too bad this pile is ahead of Chono) 4. Manabu Nakanishi [1] 5. Osamu Nishimura [1] 6. Masahiro Chono [1]
Guest BigPoppaKev Report post Posted August 4, 2002 The Tanahashi upset is real big news. When a still young wrester beats a proven main-event calibur wrestler like Sasuke it is a big deal. I think Tanahashi may go on a losing streak though after this hot start because I can't see him in the Semi-Finals, Finals. I like him and all but I still think he is too young to be headlining some of the biggest shows of the year. Also so far the G-1 has looked really good as far as wrestling goes and I can't wait to get my hand on a copy of the first G-1 show. It looks really good.
