Guest razazteca Report post Posted February 21, 2002 What is there to say about Chucky Palumbo, I believe that the guy is overrated. What exactly has he done to deserve the big push? Is it because be weights about 250? Is it the perm? What do the promoters see in this freak? I also remember watching Chucky on the "Mutha Ship" as Dusty Rhodes would say "En Public, if I will" Saturday Night, and would wonder whats up with this rookie running to the ring wearing the tiger pantys. I would watch in awe why, him? i would watch him change goofy gimmick to goofy gimmick from the Jungle Boy look to being Lex Luger's mark calling himself "the real total package" always carrying the Lex Grip exercise gymrat toy to becoming the Natural Born Thrillers. The NBT was ok, but they was so green that it was hard to believe why they became tag champ in WCW, back then I think the tag division mainly consisted of the Jersey Triad, Kidman&Rey, the Revolution, nWo guys, Raven&Saturn, Yung Dragons, 3 Count, MIA (GI Bro lol), Filthy Animals. Chucky&OHaire were put on PPVs defending the titles against the usual heavyweights which meant boring 5 minute punch and kick fest then maybe a Superkick. His feud against Jinjrak,Ohaire, Meat was the best reason to change the channel or call Pizza Hut for another Stuff Crust Pizza, or check what Austin was doing on Raw. When WCW folded I thought that Chucky would be on the indy scene or be on NWA shows. Then during the Invasion angle Chuck and his then partner started doing run ins on RAW and Smackdown. Chucky was part of the invasion, why? was it the WCW title? was it the hair? it had to be the perm?! Well he did not last long as tag champ losing it to somebody, don't remember if it was Taker&Kane or Paige&Kanyon but it does not matter, the performance was lame. Then Chucky faded away to Heat/Jakked/Metal programing. Then all of a sudden Chucky came out of the closet as the ambigously gay duo with Billy. And once again Chucky is put in a tag title race beating Tazz&Spike. Even though the teams of the Hardys, Christian&Storm, Dudleys got a bigger pop at No Way Out tag team turmoil match. The big question is can the APA make Chucky look good or is the tag team division as dead as the Lightweight division and this is the best Stephanie could write. The WWF has no clue what to do with Billy since the Choosen One gimmick failed, even giving him Chyna failed. So they gave Billy this rookie with bad hair hoping that maybe they can recendle the "greatness" of DX. Sense Roaddog was able to carry boring Mr ASS!! I'd say that qualifies them as a "real" team. The same can't be said for the ex-champs. I'll admit I'm a Chuck mark. I've been enjoying the team (despite the presence of Billy Gunn), they've been pretty funny out of the ring, and OK in the ring. Guest Kinetic Report post Posted February 22, 2002 I would say that after three years of teaming, being seen exclusively with each other in backstage vignettes, and wearing identical tights the APA are a real team. MOST tag teams are just singles wrestlers thrown together for no real reason. The APA were recruited by Jackyl because they had no obvious direction, as far as the storyline goes. The New Age Outlaws, one of the most successful teams in WWF history, were just tossed together out of nowhere. The failed gimmicks those two had prior to that are legendary, but they clicked together and it all worked out. I sense the same thing for Chuck and Billy. Neither of them are particularly good wrestlers, but they have chemistry and are slowly developing some heel heat. Give them a few more months and real feud to work with. What is a Real Tag Team? - Matching Tights... - Nope Steiners Only on occasion Wore them. - Only ever teaming with one Partner... - Again Steiners are a good Example to Null this one. Rick had several Partners Before and During his time with his Brother - Four Horsemen are another good example. Arn has had what Four Partners in his Prime; and they were all Considered real Tag Teams. -------------------------------- Chemistry is what makes a tag team real - Hardyz, Dudleyz, APA, Storm&Christain - they all have a Chemestry together that makes them a Believable. - Chuck & Billy - Have that Chemistry going for them to.
